There is a huge debate about how the world was created and who was first. It can also be questioned if god created mankind or if mankind created god. There are many different beliefs to how mankind was created but they are all connected in some way. It can be said that god came first because there needed to be one person that then realized more people were needed on Earth as mentioned in the creation myths for Venezuela, Bolivia, and Nigeria. These all talk about different ways that god decided how mankind should be created. The creation myth for Venezuela starts off with the creator of Earth and Sky, Wanadi. He then decided that he could not rule the Earth and the Sky so he made a copy of himself to rule the Earth. When Wanadi II was on …show more content…
He created these people and gave them traits that have now become societal norms. Women are the ones who have children and have long hair. Men were the head of the household and had short hair. In addition, he made people different by creating a variety of ethnicities and languages. Not everyone was like him because they all have different traits that make them unique. This shows that there had to be a god first that would be able to create all the different people in the world.
The Nigeria creation myth talks about how Obatala created land on the ground and also created people because he got bored by himself. As he created the people out of clay, he got drunk and caused the people to have deformities. But, he took ownership of his mistakes and now protects the people that have deformities.
Since Obatala made a mistake that affected a lot of people it shows that a god had to have created mankind because he is the reasoning behind people's deformities. The Yoruba people have the belief that he protects anyone that has a deformity. Without the mistake of the god, the people on earth would not have deformities. This is connected to the modern world because not everyone looks the same and some people are born with deformities. People with deformities turn out to be strong and other people do not question why some people have these deformities. The Yoruba people do not all look the same therefore, god had to have come first so there could be differences in
When people first started to think about how the Earth was created, there were many different theories and stories that varied greatly from place to place. The Native American Tribes, for example, all had very different views and opinions on how everything began. The Onondaga Tribe was a polytheistic group located in present-day central New York State, and they had very different views compared to the Christians, who have a monotheistic religion. The Christian religion was centered mostly in Europe, where it had a large amount of followers. The Native Americans and the Europeans lived a great distance from each other and didn’t even know of each other’s existence until the late 1400s. Though the two have
Who made who? Did God create humans or did humans create god? At first thought one
Creation myths are fundamental in each myth universe because ancient men needed to answer some elementary questions, such as why they were created, what is their purpose, and what are their tasks. Like all the other creation myths, “The Creation of Ulligara and Zalgarra” was narrated to answer these questions within Sumerian society. Consequently, it defines the men’s role in the creation process by implicating the idea that the humans are created as servants to the gods. Likewise, Scott Leonard argues that this myth explains the human being’s place in the cosmos by saying that the gods needed someone to do the daily labor of tending fields, raising livestock, and ensuring that the gods’ rightful offerings are made (Leonard 76). In other words, mankind was created because Sumerian gods needed creatures (other than gods) to complete some
Genesis places God in the center of the human identity. “So God created man, male and female, in His own image and it was very good (Gen 1:27; 31 emphasis added). Hindson reminds us, “People are created with a God awareness, even lost people with cry out to God when they are in dire trouble.” The human identity was created with God’s heart and character at its core. Genesis 1 distinctly points out that man is part of the original creation not an angel or god that descended from a heavenly domain to populate the
The Lord God created man in his own image. He used the dust from the ground and molded it to create the first ever human, Adam. The
In Genesis one and 2, it provides a full understanding of God’s creations and wisdom of human nature because it is free from evil. God created everything from nothing; to be perfect from his perspective. Human nature is revealed from Genesis one with God creating the Earth and the Heavens and creating the man of his likeness. The Bible explains how God created the man named Adam from the dust and was placed in the Eden’s Garden (Genesis 2:7). Adam helped God to take care of the land and all his creation. The Bible explains, Humanity was created to work and serve, keep the garden (Genesis 2:15). Subsequently, Eve was created; “God had created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him: male and female he created them” (Genesis 1:27). Adam and Eve would help God because He wanted them to multiply the Earth by taking care of his creations (Hiles & Smith, 2014). God is the sovereign ruler which he created humanity as how he should have wanted. The Bible explains about human nature that God created everything to be distinct from animals and all His creation. Humankind is able to show on our nature because we are capable of reasoning. God created all differently and we were all born naked and pure as Adam and Eve were. God created in his own image that why we all look different; we are unique in His eyes. Also, God created us to be good because we are born innocent of all evil and loving God.
Every culture, religion, and beliefs have their own ideology on how the earth was created and the story of how the first person was formed. Many beliefs come from science and religion however there is also myths that have been passed down from generation to generation. So, who is right? How did the earth form? I believe that there is no right answer and that every myth gives a person something to believe in. If you take an in depth look at these myths, you will become mesmerized at some of the stories. Today we are going to dive into two myths from two different cultures.
The humans were created through trial and error. The gods began their experimentation in creating humans. The first humans they created were made from mud. This left the gods without their creations since the humans kept falling apart. The human faces were lopsided and they would dissolve when they came in contact with water. This
Also in this chapter, man alone was created first, then animals, and then woman – an ordering that goes against that of Genesis I. Also, instead of creating man and woman together, man was created first, from the “dust of the ground” after which God “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.” Then, while Adam was sleeping, God took from Adam one of his ribs and created Eve, or woman.

Humans were made by God just like all the other matter in the universe, but people specifically were made by God in His image. Being made in God’s image is a blessing that He gave us. People have independent thoughts, can communicate, and have dominion over the Earth. When America joined World War I, they were knowingly giving up some of the lives of God’s children, not knowing that there would be as many casualties
God created man in His own image. Some traces of God 's characteristics can be seen in mankind such as love, kindness, compassion and justice.
In the beginning there was nothing, except God. God made everything out of nothing. He made the heavens, earth, and all things. It took him 6 days and on the seventh day he rested.
The Drama of Scripture written by Bartholomew and Goheen takes the reader on a journey through the entire Bible in six short “acts.” The first Act discusses creation and the establishment of God’s Kingdom. In the beginning was complete darkness. Then, God created light and divided the heavens and the earth. He then split the waters and the seas, creating dry ground on which the rest of creation could walk. He proceeded to make plants and flowers and the sun, moon, and stars. He created days and seasons and animals of all shapes and sizes. And then, to add the finishing touch, God created men and women, male and female, He created them. The book states that “the Genesis story is given so that we might have a true understanding of the world in which we live, its divine author, and our own place in it” (Bartholomew, 29). Genesis 1-3, the story of Creation, is prevalent because it introduces the author of creation, humanity, and the creation upon which humanity’s drama unfolds.
When the Babylonian gods decided to create man, he was created solely to be a servant to the gods. This was an important concept to the Babylonian society because one class of society worked as servants to a royal class. A people who believed that men were originally created to be subordinate would be less likely to question the authority of kings.
