Nearing the end of their arduous journey, the mutual dependence was slowly dwindling as Elie began to have to take care of his father. One example of this is when his father was sick and in the camp infirmary and had not been fed so Elie “gave him what was left of [his] soup. But [his] heart was heavy. [He] was aware that [he] was doing it grudgingly,’ (107). In the book Night by Elie Wiesel there are many instances where his use of imagery helps establish tone and purpose. For example Elie Wiesel used fire (sight) to represent just that. The fire helps prove that the tone is serious and mature. In no way did Wiesel try to lighten up the story about the concentration camps or the Nazis. In the book Night written by Elie Wiesel was mainly about how a young boy had to suffer the traumatic experience of existence and fatality at Nazis concentration camps. In the book, Elie Wiesel was the character “Eliezer Wiesel”. Eliezer was a young boy at the age of fourteen who lived in Sighet, Transylvania. During the lead of World War II, Eliezer was an extremely earnest young boy who desired to examine and practice Jewish theology. He also occasionally spent a great deal of time and passion on the Talmud, the gathering of Jewish decrees and ways of life that included the Mishnah and the Gemara. Eliezer’s father, who was a protuberant head of the Jewish neighborhood, strongly believed that Weisel was not of the right age to try and go forward with the doings. Still, Eliezer begins examining and practicing the cabbala with an instructor by the name of Moshe the Beadle.

In Night by Elie Weisel, his father fails to give an account of what he heard at the council meeting so therefore nobody knows what’s going on. Secondly, the sighet residents aren’t listening to Moishe the Beadle who has already experienced a concentration camp. All the Jews are relying on Elie’s Father to give them information because they think what Moishe said was false.Once everyone steps of the train, they find out that what Moishe said wasn’t false. It’s ironic that people believed Elie’s father instead of Moishe the Beadle because Elie’s father was a respected leader of the community and Moishe was not a prominent figure in the town of sighet.

A little over 70 years ago, Elie Wiesel survived a situation that many people could not even fathom. In 1944, Elie and his family were brought to Auschwitz where he nearly experienced death many times.

During Elie Wiesel’s book there seemed to be many mixed emotions throughout the situation of being in the camp and the separation of their family, and along with the relationship between him and his father. In the beginning of the book Elie thought that his father could care less about him and what he does since he always seemed to be busy and had no time for his wife or his children. “My father was a cultured man, rather unsentimental, He rarely displayed his feelings, not even within his family, and was more involved with the welfare of others than with that of his own kin” (Wiesel, 4). In the middle of the book things started to change, the both of them tried their hardest to stay together and to never be separated apart no matter what circumstances stood by “We’ll take turns. I’ll watch over you and you’ll watch over me” (Wiesel, 89).

It illustrates all the sufferings and troubles the teenager, Elie passed through while with his father at their homeland and after being taken by the German soldiers to work in the camps. The once happy loving family of four children is separated by the World war and Elie chooses to remain with his father throughout the cruelties. In the book ‘Night’, Elie Wiesel uses foreshadowing, imagery, and tone to illustrate all of the horrors that he encountered while his time at the concentration camps.

Elie Wiesel is the author of Night, in Elie’s memoir, he explains how the Jews were dehumanized throughout the time they spent suffering in the Labor Camps. Dehumanization is the act of depriving a person or group of positive human qualities, while the Jews were forced to live in the concentration camps they were treated as anything but humans. In the memoir Elie explains the observations the fellow Jews made during their time of suffering. During the Holocaust Jews, as a race were treated as nothing more than an object. Within the camps babies had no significant value as they were shot with no remorse. Nazis urge to kill off the Jewish population increased, the Jews in the camps lived discouraged lives as they were reduced to being treated with little to no standards.

All of these examples showcase the struggle teens and young children faced during their time in ghettos and camps. Elie Wiesel in his memoir titled, Night informs the readers that the Jews were forced to leave their homes, beaten and killed by the S.S, treated like animals, starved to death and gassed in chambers and supports his claim through giving examples of his own personal experiences as a victim in Auschwitz. Wiesel’s purpose is to convince the reader to see that the Nazis were monsters who did horrible things that scared people in order to make sure that what happened is unforgettable no matter how hard others try to forget it so his horrendous past doesn't become others future. The intended audience is the entire world and the author uses his own authority and experience in the camp as giving information of his past and hardships that he endured through the concentration camps to support his claims.The author writes in a dark, somber tone and asserts a justifiable bias against the Nazi S.S and Hungarian police for the horrible acts they performed such as the beatings, taking the Jews from their homes, sending the Jews to the crematorium, and so many more unimaginable horrific things.

Determination is an important foundation in human lives. Each time an individual or society faces great adversity, one tends to develop an aspect of their identity that showcases a strong link to the significance of determination in people’s lives. Determination is a trait that each individual possesses. However, the degree of this characteristic varies for each individual and depends on the person’s capabilities and willingness to attain a goal.
