Attending graduate school was never a goal of mine. I thought of it as a way to find myself deeper in student loan debt and growing grays in my twenties. I have done extensive research and found that my assumptions were just foolish assumptions. Graduate school is an opportunity to expand on the previous knowledge and to improve career prospects. Although I may grow gray hairs the end result will be worth it. Through my work and academic experience, I have learned the importance of working with a team and the key components of the retail industry. I am now looking to advance my professional skills. Having carefully considered my options at this time, I have decided to pursue a master’s degree in Luxury and Fashion Management in order to cultivate the proficiency and capabilities that I will need to begin a fulfilling and fruitful career as a luxury …show more content…
I started as an intern for their store management program in summer 2015. I returned to Nordstrom as a Manager Trainee for my internship class in March 2016. Nordstrom is where I got a taste of working with high-end designers in the designer handbags department. I shadowed my mentor manager in managers meeting, buyer conferences, and regional visits. I learned about how to be the liaison between the buyer, the store, and the customer. I learned all of my store operational skills in this role. Moreover, while working for Nordstrom my mentor manager was recruited by Saks Fifth Avenue and she asked me to come over to Saks with her as a Fashion Advisor. At Saks, there will be designer product knowledge meetings almost every day. By grand opening, the store presented me with the opportunity to meet the corporate merchandising team. While working for Saks I styled a few celebrities and worked with a couple of celebrity stylist. Saks rewarded me with the chance to develop my brand recognition and product knowledge for not only designer handbags but for every
I am very interested in becoming a part of Nordstrom’s team through its retail management internship. As I finish my junior year at the College of William and Mary, I am proud of my academic work, my positions in diverse organizations on campus, and my overall work experience. I believe that these experiences, paired with my creativity and work ethic, make me a great candidate for Nordstrom. This summer I will be able to contribute to Nordstrom’s commitment to providing customers with the best shopping experience.

Working in a retail store in the mall has taught me many things. I also learned a lot of new
The question I want to ask and research about is “Is going to college worth it?” By worth it, I mean does the experience of college and a college degree worth the money and time spent on it? There are tons of evidences suggest that it is a right choice to go to college, but there are also some evidences counter that idea, suggesting that going to college may not be the best choice. I agree with the former idea, and I believe that not only going to college is important, but also going to graduate school is preferable. From my experience, I think that a college degree is overall better than a high school degree, and a graduate school degree is better than a college degree. There are different kinds of returns that a college degree could offer
Whether you recently graduated from college or are going back to school after being in the workforce, graduate school represents a new step up in terms of your life, your knowledge, and your ability to get paid more in the future.
I decided to go to college because I believe that education is an important part of life and that being educated has many advantages. Like many, one of the biggest reasons for deciding to attend college is to create a better future for myself. Being a first-generation college student my parents have implanted on me the importance of college education, as it is something they wish they would have done themselves. As the first of four children to go to college, I feel that it is my responsibility to be a good example to my younger siblings, and show them that it is important to have goals in life and to better yourself as a person through education. I understand that an university education may not be for everyone, but it felt like the right choice for me. What I hope to get out of college is a life-changing experience, not only to get a better education, but to find something I am truly passionate about. I think it is important when choosing a career or a major to find something your heart truly wants and not just a career that will make you able to afford expensive things. I also hope that somewhere along the path to graduation and adulthood, I find myself as a person and develop ideas, opinions, and to be able to approach the world with an
My opp would be continuing my education in ptming so I can help drive sales and reduce a-markdowns while maintaining a well-organized and easy-to shop area for our guest during changes, such as back to school. As far as this year’s internship and last years internship, I see changes made from last years feedback. I think me transferring to the Chattanooga area has worked out well. Honestly I would tell anyone if they could go to a different store for their advance internship do it! Each store is very unique and there are many things to learn and take away from each of them. Since I am at a different store that has a different volume all while learning a new ETL role I feel like I will be more prepared to be an ETL since I have now been at two different stores and different angles, I would suggest it to anyone! I also love the fact we are taking the time this year to do a team building day as I think everyone can grow from it and take something away from it to go back to there store and apply. My mentor Peter is great and I do not think I could brag on him
This expansion demonstrates how the luxury industry is now run by massive corporations whose focus is only on growth, visibility, brand awareness, advertising, and most importantly, PROFITS! With growth and expansion, has come a decrease in quality and rarity. The luxury garments produced are mostly not handmade but are even outsourced to large factories in places such as China and Turkey. Also, to meet quarterly turnover projections, “designers churn(ed) out increasingly trendy collections of clothes, handbags, and shoes.” (Thomas, Pg. 246) With hundreds of new stores around the globe the surplus of designer labeled merchandise is immense hence, the proliferation of outlet malls.
Also, I have been a volunteer in the community and have worked with people from all walks of life. I am certain this has played a role in my educational path as well as my course of study. I know that my purpose in life is to help others and that purpose has been transferred to my educational route. The graduate degree program will be beneficial to me to fulfill my purpose to change people’s lives. I want to be a positive addition to my future career choice, and with this opportunity to further and better myself I will be able to achieve my

Being a an international brand, there is a level of dependence on Italian markets with 90% of the stores situated in Italy and the equalisation crosswise over America, Paris and distribution over different countries of Asia, Europe, Canada and others.
