I am very interested in becoming a part of Nordstrom’s team through its retail management internship. As I finish my junior year at the College of William and Mary, I am proud of my academic work, my positions in diverse organizations on campus, and my overall work experience. I believe that these experiences, paired with my creativity and work ethic, make me a great candidate for Nordstrom. This summer I will be able to contribute to Nordstrom’s commitment to providing customers with the best shopping experience.

Nordstrom, Inc. was founded in 1901 by John W. Nordstrom. Today, the company is known as a fashion specialty retailer, offering apparel for women, men and children. They offer other products such as shoes, gifts, cosmetics, handbags, jewelry, accessories, and fragrances (Company Profile Nordstrom, Inc., 2016). At the time when the store was opened, in 1901 in Seattle, it was just a shoe store. The question I want to ask and research about is “Is going to college worth it?” By worth it, I mean does the experience of college and a college degree worth the money and time spent on it? There are tons of evidences suggest that it is a right choice to go to college, but there are also some evidences counter that idea, suggesting that going to college may not be the best choice. I agree with the former idea, and I believe that not only going to college is important, but also going to graduate school is preferable. My opp would be continuing my education in ptming so I can help drive sales and reduce a-markdowns while maintaining a well-organized and easy-to shop area for our guest during changes, such as back to school. As far as this year’s internship and last years internship, I see changes made from last years feedback. I think me transferring to the Chattanooga area has worked out well. Honestly I would tell anyone if they could go to a different store for their advance internship do it! Each store is very unique and there are many things to learn and take away from each of them. Since I am at a different store that has a different volume all while learning a new ETL role I feel like I will be more prepared to be an ETL since I have now been at two different stores and different angles, I would suggest it to anyone! I also love the fact we are taking the time this year to do a team building day as I think everyone can grow from it and take something away from it to go back to there store and apply.
