As a gateway community to Texas Hill Country and Lake Travis, Lake Pointe is in an ideal location. Just 12 miles west of all the employers, entertainment, and cultural opportunities of downtown Austin, Lake Pointe is a carefully planned community that has just been built in the past 10 years or so. Located at 37.3366° north and 119.5794° west you will find Bass Lake California. Willow creek found at the north end of the lake and Yosemite national Park east of the lake town can give you physical examples of the area, when you enter the town you drive down a mountain into town that is easily identifiable once in Bass Lake if looking west. Bass Lake covers an area of 2.493 miles the lake's temperature changes throughout the year getting up to 89 degrees F in July and as low as 28 degrees F and December. Oak Woodland and grassland make up much of Bass Lakes terrain. The Lake itself is a beautiful feature of the area but you can also find pine trees along the willow creek the leads into the river or travel 17 miles of the road and find Half Dome inside Yosemite National Park.

One of Barry Counties most visited and largest lakes is none other than Gun Lake. The lakefront is home to a deep Indian history that reflects the extensive development of the surrounding area over the years. The lake is a key area in Barry County for recreation and tourism, but its rich history is its most important aspect.

The city of Gem Lake, Minnesota shares much of its history with the larger, surrounding cities of White Bear Lake and Little Canada. Originally a wooded land covered with lakes, the area now known today as Gem Lake remained uncolonized until the 1840s. As early as 1843, French explorer Jean Nicollet drew a map depicting “Bear’s Lake.” This was the first record of the present day area, and it would signify the impending colonization.

With it's many coves and tributaries, boaters can find a private spot on Lake Travis to ski, wakeboard or just get away from the crowds. Other boaters head to Devil's Cove on the weekends to tether boats together and create a big floating party. Other party spots include Carlos and Charlie's and The Iguana Grill. The Oasis offers a more subdued atmosphere and boasts the best setting for a famous Lake Travis

This summer one scientific thing I did was use a water mat on Lake Winnipesaukee. A water mat is a giant raft that floats on the surface of the water. It's constructed from the same styrofoam type material that a pool noodle is made out of. It is extremely versatile and can be used in many different ways. The way that I enjoyed using it the most was to jump from our pontoon boat onto the mat. I would make my way to the edge of the boat, steady myself, and leap, landing directly on top of the green float. The impact of the jump made my feet feel sore for a few seconds. When I was ready, I would hurdle myself off the mat and climb back onto the boat. While this activity does require a lot of skill, it requires a lot of science as well.

Set high in the Adirondack Mountains range, Lake Placid, a sizeable freshwater lake, lends its name to the village which lies on its shores. Ripe with history, Lake Placid has flourished as an Olympic Village since its settlement in the nineteenth century. Over the course of these last two-hundred years, residents have built and rebuilt Lake Placid Homes which have experienced history in the making firsthand.

There is a rugged trail that follows the stream bed to the Painter–Leetonia Road, above, that entails scrambling past several waterfalls. Many pools of water have fish in them.

Other people ski and tube, but I don’t. I have seen what’s in the water! I like the challenge of fishing in the bayou. It contains largemouth bass, small mouth bass, catfish, grass carp, different species of gar, blue gill, bream, and white perch. It’s challenging because, first, I have to decide what I want to fish for. What I am fishing for determines how and where I fish. If I want to fish for bass, which I like to do mostly, I fish down the banks. Bass usually hang out near stumps and trees. If I want to fish for bream, I go to shallow areas near clusters of trees. Catfish are fun to fish for because I can “tight-line” from my house. I set up a pole and cast it into the channel and just wait—right in my back yard. I never run out things to fish for in the

The many local lakes such as crab orchard, little grassy, cedar, and Glendale lake provide the many actives from fishing, boating, and camping that the many local and even travelers from out of state enjoy. Being in the birding business, one typically is pumped to explore a new park with the anticipation of what avian species may be lurking there. Today’s park survey is not one of those instances; we will instead take a leisurely stroll around the former quarry pit known as Coe Lake, which is located in Berea, Ohio with no expectations other than a relaxing hike.

We all get to see a glimpse of it every day, as many Oregonians have it as their license plate. That little picture on the license plate of course being Crater Lake; the ninth deepest lake in the United States (Reichemann). Crater Lake formed thousands of years ago due to a mountain erupting. Throughout the National Park we could see remains of rocks and minerals from the explosion. Crater Lake is one of the nicest and monumental lakes throughout the Pacific North West.
