The country that my group and I our doing is North Korea, in Asia. In my part I am going to cover religion. In North Korea, there is a religion called Juche. This is the only region that is accepted. Juche also known as "Kimilsungism" after Kim llsung, is a religious, political, social and economic ideology of North Korea (The Juche Idea). Juche is a nonmaterial element. The idea was first introduced by Kim llsung in 1955 to distance North Korea from the Soviet Union, which at the time was undoing many of the Stalinist policies that Kim llsung liked. Overtime, Juche evolved borrowing from Marxism, Leninism, Stalinism, Maoism, and Confucianism. Whatever Kimllsung and Kim Jongil wanted, as well as their won ideas, and in 1972 replaced Marxism-Leninism
North Korea’s Propaganda has been ongoing for years now. Propaganda is information, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to publicize a particular political case. (Webster) So, North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un uses propaganda to brainwash his citizens. Before Kim Jong Un II died, propaganda posters were created and posted around the country. Inn majority of the posters, Americans and America are depicted as terrible. In the first photo, it shows that the U.S. started the Korean war. In reality, the U.S. joined the ongoing war to aid South Korea. The second photo depicts an American soldier throwing a Korean baby down a well which once again is used as a brainwashing tactic to make Americans seem like
Family traditions are passed on from generation to generation, however they are not always static rules. Tradition is like a living organism that adapts to change over time. In order to understand modern North Korea’s family customs, it is important to consider the tradition of the past. Before North Korea’s liberation from Japan in 1945, North Korean families operated differently than they do today. Their ideology was founded on Confucius’s principles of family, including “only a country where family life was harmonious could be peaceful and prosperous” (Asia Society). The family is an integral part of society the same way a cell is important to a body (Suzy, 264). The government is even considered “one family” that everyone is a part of (Monday). Every individual in a family has a role and every family has a role in society. The ideal family is modeled from Kim Il Sung’s nuclear family (Suzy, 268). It is clear that family is a fundamental priority in North Korean society.
The announcement of Kim-Il Sung’s death in 1994 put the whole country at grief. Everyone in the country gathered by the statues of Kim-Il Sung to pay their respects. It was this ceremony at which many citizens realized the faults of the leader and soon after began noticing the issues of the regime and leadership. As an act of rebellion, people would watch forbidden Korean shows and read Western novels. Soon, many experiences a shift in how they viewed the outside world and North Korea. However many believers grieved the death of Kim-Il Sung as much as the death of their relatives. Most North Koreans couldn’t believe that the invincible, God like leader has died. More extreme nationalists willingly starved to death becuase living without the leader was unthinkable.
Basically, “Juche (Self-Reliance) is the official ideology of the regime - conceived, they say, by the eternal president to meet the needs of the masses and fill the gaps in Marxism-Leninism and Maoism” (Delisle 72). Many of the explanations present in the book and North Korean society contain flashy wording and suggest a prospective future, but do not mean much in actuality. A word to describe this policy put forth by Kim Jong-Il is brainwashing, because of the unnaturally quick following, despite the empty nature of the plan. In fact, even the measurement of years used by North Korea are based upon Juche, “which means that instead of 2003 it’s Juche 92!” (Delisle 73).
Juche is a Communist led and sponsored religion in North Korea made up of a mixture of ideology, philosophy, and religion for over 22,000,000 people, most of which are North Koreans, as stated by John Chin of the Religion-Info website (Chin). Juche is practiced, mandatorily, in North Korea by their government leader Kim Jong-Il, and is more of a social ideology instead of an actual religion. Although, the only way this ideology is promoted as a religion is by the way that Juche adopted some of the Confucius ideas. John Chin also states the ideas of Juche following only one “Great Leader”, and secondly that the Korean Worker's Party revolution belongs to the people (Chin). Then later the idea of self-reliance
The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, better known as North Korea, is a country in east Asia. North Korea officially describes itself as a socialist state, but it is widely recognized as a dictatorship. Kim ll-sung is the first supreme leader of North Korea, and the grandfather of the current leader, Kim Jong Un. Under the regime of the Kims, North Korea isolated itself away from the rest of the world. It is a perfect archetype of a “closed society”. Since the beginning of the rule of the Kims, the condition in North Korea have worsened, where citizens have little to no civil rights.
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
Although a secular state, North Korea’s constitution guarantees the right of its people to practice “freedom of religious belief”. This is believed to be a lie. Although, there is no official religion, North Korea is known for various beliefs in Buddhism, Confucianism, and some Christian and syncretic “Chondogyo”. Although there seems to be no sign of any actual religion being openly practiced in North Korea. A diplomatic religious group does exist that is believed to only exist for publicity

Put into rough and, for the moment, relatively simple terms, the key stakeholders in this situation reflect a triangulation of the three major theories reflected above. The liberalism ideology has been the dominant theory in America, as the postwar unified order – expressed through the dominance of the United Nations and its attempts to build a global peace. However, the contemporary global tide of isolationist nationalism propelled Mr. Trump to power, and has also led to the development of many nationalist parties in Europe, which have signaled a breaking away from the postwar, globalized peace that reflects liberalist philosophy.
Understanding how North Korea as a country defines itself in a changing world. Where do they derive their customs and practices, political standings and military power? Define North Korea’s history leading into the modern age and define its culture and characteristics and how they interact with the world today. Understanding a subject as broad as the term culture begins where the culture began with the birth of civilization and the people that influenced it. There are many factors that play a role in the shaping of a nation none so much as turmoil and conflict and the Korean peninsula saw its fair share for the better part of a millennia. A complete statistical breakdown of North Korea shows a struggling nation that strongly depends on
North Korea (NK) is the greatest Hybrid Threat (HT) to the United States (US) because of NK’s capability of employing missiles, cyber-attacks, criminal elements, Special Operations Forces (SOF), and conventional forces (CF) to create scalable challenges at the strategic, operational and tactical levels. Training Circular 7-100 defines HT as, “the diverse and dynamic combination of regular, irregular, and terrorist forces, criminal elements, or a combination of those forces and elements all unified to achieve mutually benefitting effects.” NK can create strategic diversions, challenges, and deterrence through the threat of development and/or use of its WMD/missile program.
This article deals with the United States and its attempts to deal with the dangerous matters of North Korea. Some of the problems that were brought up in this article were North Korea’s plan to restart a plutonium based nuclear program at Yongbyon, North Korea’s plan to build a new highly enriched uranium (HEU) nuclear program, and the tension that emerged between the United States and South Korea. Even though many problems were occurring, there were some positive things that were happening at the time. The United States began negotiating with North Korea and South Korea about establishing railroad links, demining portions of the demilitarized zone, allowing athletes to compete in the Asian games, and allowing abductees to visit Japan.
Kim Il Sung created this “dangerous belief system” so that North Koreans would always obey him. Before Dictatorship North Korea was an independent nation, it was a colony full of Christians. Kim Il Sung noticed how Christians worshipped the Japanese ruler who ruled Korea. When North Korea declared as a country, Kim Il Sung changed the form of Christianity and he declared himself as a God so that North Korea will always praise and pray him. Christians revolted against this, so Kim Il Sung annihilated most of them because he did not want his own people suspecting him of Juche and put lots of people in concentration camps and they still reside there. (Juche Religion) Juche originated from Marxism-Leninism. Marxism-Leninism was created by Karl Marx, some of the main points in this ideology are that a communist party should be able to perform and play major roles in society. Some other beliefs in Marxism-Leninism are that modern capitalism should turn into imperialism. (Piskunov) North Korea gained inspiration from Marxism-Leninism, which is why this ideology is one of the main ideologies that Juche originated. Some other ideologies that Juche originated were Confucianism. Confucianism was developed in China by a man named Kong Qiu (Confucius). Kong Qiu travelled across the country to spread his teachings, but at that time his beliefs was not popular and some of his beliefs were how to do the right things in life. He
The Korean peninsula is home to a number of different religions but historically Buddhism was the dominant religion. Since the 19th Century, Christianity has made tremendous inroads into Korean society. Most religious believers in South Korea today identify themselves as either Protestants, of different denominations, or Catholics (Kim & Zhong, 2010). Unlike the government ruled atheism in North Korea, there is no state religion in South Korea and no government-established requirements for religious recognition.
