VB NSW Cup Wrap: Round 17 It was a shortened fixture in the VB NSW Cup last weekend, with only three games going ahead due to six teams having the bye. North Sydney Bears and Mounties drew for the second time this season, this time with the final score being 34-all. Mounties trailed by 12 with five minutes remaining, but two late tries and a Mitch Cornish sideline conversion secured that both teams shared the points. Kirisome Auva’a returned for the Bears with a try and two try assists. Illawarra Cutters survived a late Wentworthville Magpies surge to come away with a 30-22 victory. The Cutters led 20-0 after just 24 minutes, but the Magpies fought back to trail by two before letting the game slip away from them in the final eight minutes.
The Gents played a closer game then they are used to in the series finale, but the Maroon and White never trailed in the series as Centenary (16-3, 3-0 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference) swept a doubleheader with a 12-0 win (seven innings) in game one and 9-6 in game two.
The Boxers’ extended the lead to 29-7 on a 30-yard touchdown pass from Summerfield to Williams on the first drive of the second half for the home team. Despite the 22-point deficit, Puget Sound cut the Boxers to lead to 29-14 when Branham caught his first of two touchdown passes with 8:31 to go in the third
Facing a two-run deficit, Haley Kodama had a two out, RBI double in the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-6. Then, the Wildcats added to their lead with two more runs in its half of the sixth inning for 9-6. In the seventh, Miller hit a two-run home run to make it a one-run game with none out. A fly out, strike out and line out ended the comeback
The next game was a little closer at a score of 12-6 win over the York B team
The stands were filled with spectators waiting to see the outcome of the homecoming game versus Pacifica. Dana and Pacifica had both lost their past two games and it was unclear who would come out on top. With a final score of 31-49, it was the most thrilling match the Dana fans had seen this season.
The 11-play,65-yard drive ended with a 2-yard touchdown run by, Chapman. The point after kick by,Nathan Liesen was good, making this a,20-7 game, with 43.6 left in the half.
Into the third quarter, Linebacker Lang Evans came up with the biggest play of the game, an interception leaving Turpin at the Redskin six yard line. On the next snap, Turpin’s Nathan Hooper scores a 6 yd run touchdown, breaking the tie. With a successful Turpin field goal from kicker Harry Sand and unsuccessful kick from Anderson, 3rd quarter ended in 31-21.

Mounties led 10-6 after 25 minutes and had been the dominant side, but they would concede 16 points before they would next touch the ball.
A 43-10 victory over the Warriors last week gave Mounties the week off into the preliminary finals, and that was largely thanks to a two-try effort from Lynch.
Point by point, the teams battled it out. With three kills in a row by the Illini, the Lions called another timeout. The teams went head to head, until the Lions pushed ahead 24-21. Illini would not back down and fought back to win the game 26-24.
Yesterday afternoon at Nelson Field in Bellaire, Ohio in the wind and cold the hometown Bellaire Big Reds dominated a Caldwell Redskins teams, by the count of 35-6. The game was never in doubt as the Big Reds defense allowed only a total of 114 yards for the entire contest, while its offense totaled 447 yards.
The Wyong Roos missed out on the minor premiership by one for and against point, and consequently have to take on the Penrith Panthers in a qualifying final this weekend at Pepper Stadium.
