Nuclear Fission, the Energy of the Future
Nuclear fission and just nuclear power in general is a hot topic, with tons and tons of people debating about about whether nuclear power is good or bad. When you discover that nuclear power is not a horrible atomic weapon, you can really see the good in it. Nuclear fission energy is a great alternative energy, because it is efficient and safe in all standards. Process of Nuclear Fission According to U.S Energy Information Administration, nuclear energy comes from splitting uranium atoms. Atoms contain protons, neutrons and electrons. The neutrons contain a lot of energy. The energy can be released from the neutrons by breaking something called bonds. When the fission happens a neutron that came

For example, France has 80% of their entire energy production powered by Nuclear power. Nuclear power also powers 20% of America, if it can power that much, it could power the whole U.S.A. Nuclear energy is also a good choice because, it can run in any weather, even in droughts, night time, and when it is not windy, unlike wind, hydro, and solar power, as said in www.conserve-energy-future.com. Nuclear power is also very safe in most cases, and can still be efficient, unlike fossil fuels. First off, (As said in www.vittana.org) Nuclear workers have safer careers than most physical labor jobs. Nuclear energy also is environmental friendly, with being a lot more cleaner than any fossil fuels, who put greenhouse gases into environment.
Even though accidents have occured, they are VERY rare, and nature could still recover. Nuclear energy is also safe in environmental cases, (As said in the same article as before from www.ic.galegroup.com) with low pollution and while being the source of 70% of the U.S’s clean energy
Nuclear energy is gathered by the process of splitting uranium atoms. By splitting these atoms, there is some mass loss, and this mass can then be used as energy. This process is called fission. The heat from this fission is used to turn water into steam, and this steam turns the turbine generator in a reactor, which produces energy. Nuclear power plants have many advantages when compared to other renewable energy sources.
Firstly, the usage of nuclear power is consistent and plentiful. As we know, the reaction of nuclear can emit a great power of energy, it can support vast of families’ and enormous plants’ working. In addition, unlike solar energy and wind power, which depend on external factors, nuclear power is consistent generate at anytime and anywhere. Secondly, since the nuclear power is easy to produce and it also can generate a huge amount of power, it is much cheaper to use it. What’s more, like Hill’s saying, “with the cost of natural gas and oil soaring”, the nuclear plants have return back to work and produce massive energy. Lastly, nuclear power benefits to environment: not only because it does not produce the carbon emissions, which can alleviates the global warming; but also it reduces the noxious byproducts, like sulfur dioxide, which is main reason of air pollution. Therefore, using the nuclear power is an ideal energy resource for human
Nuclear power is a much greener option than others, and can help prevent the devastating effects of fossil fuels on the environment. Burning fossil fuels releases thousands of tons of GHGs (greenhouse gasses) into the air that cause a variety of serious environmental problems. The emissions cause global warming which leads to the melting of polar ice caps and the raising of oceans. This also causes acid rain and air pollution which pollutes water sources, accelerates erosion and damages ecosystems (Pacific
The advantage of of Nuclear Power is that it doesn’t depend on fossil fuels and is not affected by the erratic oil and gas prices. Coal and natural gas in other power plants emit carbon dioxide, whereas nuclear power plants emit minimal carbon dioxide. Nuclear fission produces a million times more energy per unit weight than fossil fuel alternatives.
It is also can cause fatal consequences. One of the main disadvantages of nuclear power plants is the severe consequences of accidents.
In a nuclear power reactor, the energy released is used as heat to make steam to generate electricity .All matter is composed of elements. The important elements for our discussion of nuclear energy are uranium, plutonium, carbon and hydrogen. Uranium and plutonium are involved in nuclear energy production, and carbon and hydrogen are the main elements in conventional fuels like coal, oil and natural gas. You can find nuclear energy in the United States has more than 100 reactors, although it creates most of its electricity from fossil fuels and hydroelectric energy. Nations such as Lithuania, France, and Slovakia create almost all of their electricity from nuclear power plants. Uranium is the fuel most widely used to produce nuclear energy. There is two kinds of nuclear power plants Fission reactors can be divided roughly into two classes, depending on the energy of the neutrons that sustain the fission chain reaction: Thermal reactors the most common type of nuclear reactor use slowed or thermal neutrons to keep up the fission of their fuel. In my opinion i think Nuclear power plants are safer and a lot more beneficial than any other energy
This type of energy (in reference to nuclear energy) is released in large amounts in processes that affect the nuclei of atoms through nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. Nuclear fusion combines the reactants (the atoms involved in the nuclear reaction) to form one single atom which leads to the “extra energy” being used as a resource. On the other hand, fission is a nuclear reaction (as well as a natural radioactive decay process) where one atom splits into lighter nuclei, and the energy released is used for power. Both forms of nuclear energy are much less harmful to the environment
The way that nuclear energy is able to produce power is that since atoms make up everything and the denser the nucleus of an atom is the stronger the atom is. The energy that is inside of the nucleus is Nuclear Energy. So when we use a process to split the atoms, the energy within those atoms is released. This produces more energy than our more commonly used fossil fuels because it's nucleus is denser so when it is split the energy is much greater.
Nuclear Energy has many supporters around the world. The benefit of Nuclear Energy are clear to many. People who are for Nuclear Energy, support it for many reasons. The outcome of produced power can be changed, all you do is change the fuel entering the chain reactor (Page 11). One main factor that puts nuclear energy on top is it lets out little air pollutants, greenhouse gases, smog, slows global warming, and helps limit acid rain (Sally
Nuclear Power is widely regarded as a viable choice in enabling sustainable development, especially when renewable energy sources remain in their growing stage of development and distribution. Nuclear Power has many benefits compared to f of However, nuclear power also remains one of the most controversial sources of energy. The debates on it are mainly based along the lines of environmental, safety and security.
Unlike fossil fuels, nuclear energy has the lowest impact on the environment since it does not release any gases like carbon dioxide, methane which are largely responsible for
Pollution is another topic with both pros and cons. Fossil fuels release harmful pollutants into the air such as carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide. Nuclear power does not release any of those toxins into the atmosphere. However, a pollution problem with nuclear energy is thermal pollution, where a plant’s “hot effluents” are put into a nearby body of water, and raise the temperature by a small amount but enough to cause a disturbance in the ecosystem of the lake or reservoir. Nevertheless, this could easily be solved by cooling the effluents before releasing them into the water. The other problem facing nuclear energy is waste disposal. Nuclear waste is radioactive and very dangerous. Therefore, it must be kept buried and sealed up for a long period of time until the radioactivity dies [Plasma-Material]. One positive fact about nuclear energy that is not disputed is its abundance.
With any large energy producing facility there are risks. The truth is that accidents do happen at nuclear power plants and at other facilities all the time. An example of this was the accident at Three Mile Island in Pennsylvania where there was a partial meltdown in March 1979. More recently was the worst nuclear accident at Chernobyl. Statistical data for 1995, released by the International Atomic Energy Agency early in 1996, indicated that there were a total of 437 operational nuclear power stations in 31 countries with years of experience. Chernobyl was the only plant that injured the public. Thus, judging by the data, that is a good record for a source of energy.
Nuclear power has been around for decades and can be easily utilized to help meet America’s energy needs. With energy
Nuclear energy is an alternative source of energy that holds great amounts of energy and is one of the future sources of energy for this world. “Nuclear energy is energy in the nucleus (core) of an atom. There is enormous energy in the bonds that hold the nucleus together. Energy is released when those bonds are broken” (Uranium). Unlike a chemical reaction with fossil fuels, nuclear reactions create an even greater amount of energy than fossil fuels. “Nuclear energy can be used to make electricity, but first it must be released it can be released from atoms in two ways: nuclear fusion and nuclear fission” (Uranium). Nuclear energy already provides 1/5 of all the energy in the U.S.,
