Most people ask the question, "Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?" to determine what you see as your future goals. Before, I would answer this question with the most outlandish responses but as time has gone by, I have grown. I have come to the realization of where I truly envision myself. I see myself aspiring to accomplish my career goal of becoming a Nurse Anesthetist. Now, it may seem ridiculous that I have gone from seeing things such as becoming famous, to actually determining a career for myself. However, I had to transition my process of thinking. I had taken the time to really evaluate my life. I looked back at all the courses I had taken over the course of my undergraduate degree and the trials and tribulations from being …show more content…
A goal that one day I will be someone's Nurse Anesthetist, administering anesthesia and saving lives. Although, becoming a regular Registered Nurse had crossed my mind but I wanted something more. I wanted to take my career a bit further. Doing something that would change an individual's life in a more impactful way that was life or death and "I" was "their" life. With that being said, I have led my educational journey in a way that steered me toward that nursing goal. However, I was unable to obtain a BSN from my school due to information not being provided to me about our new program. Therefore, my hand was forced. I had to reapply to schools in order to get my goals on track and unfortunately that called for a break between my education. Now, I can sit here and say I enjoyed my break but that would be me being facetious. Instead, it was a time of confusion and a loss of hope, in a sense. However, everything happens for a reason in my opinion and the reason for me saying that is because I was able to have the opportunity to speak with an individual in my same shoes. I was working at a clothing store and was conversing with a coworker who happened to be in my EXACT
My career goal is to become an Occupational Therapist and specialize in pediatrics. I want to specialize in pediatrics because I have always loved to be around children and be able to help them in whatever they need. Also, pediatrics is important to me because kids are our future and if I can help kids for their future I will be glad to do so. Helping kids become more independent on their activities of daily living makes me happy because I am helping them to become more independent and make them feel like they can accomplish anything. In order to be able to do this I have to get a Master Degree and I plan on getting this degree from Loma Linda University. In five years I see myself working in the Occupational Therapy setting and working with kids. I see myself, making others
My short term goal is to work endlessly towards obtaining my Bachelor's degree in Nursing. I put in more efforts, more time towards achieving my dreams and pursuing my passion. I feel like it was always meant for me to help people because when I was younger, I helped people when they were sick, had cuts and bruises, and etc.…
Completing my bachelor’s degree in Nursing has been a personal goal of mine since I graduated with my associate’s degree in nursing. Having my BSN degree is essential for my career and personal development. Initially after graduating with my ASN, I enrolled in a BSN program and started my first class, when life happened. I was a single mother raising my 5 year old daughter, working the night shifts at Miami Children’s Hospital. I was dating my now husband and became pregnant with my second child. I ended up having to quit my job as a pediatric nurse which was my goal, to be a pediatric nurse, get my BSN and climb the ladder there. After the birth of my daughter my personal goals changed, and my academic and career goals were put on hold.
My life is a bit of a rollercoaster. I knew what I wanted to do since a young age; however, different paths and decisions brought me to my goal in a roundabout way. After high school I decided to take time off before going to college because I was fortunate enough to have a successful career in retail management. Around the nine year mark I decided that I wanted to return to my goal of entering the medical field, which I was already in the process of doing by attending Northeastern and working towards my BS in Biological Sciences. My ultimate goal being to achieve an MS as a physician assistant. When moving into health care I started in the Urgent Care Department which was closely related to one of the fields I am interested in when practicing
With all of the different specialties in healthcare, some get overlooked or may be under the radar. An uncommon and often disregarded career choice in healthcare is that of a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice. Although not many people know about these healthcare careers, they play a vital role within the healthcare team. This field is growing rapidly and the likelihood of coming into contact with a nurse anesthetist during a hospital stay is on the rise. Knowing the history, education, responsibilities, and career outlook for a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist or a Doctorate of Nurse Anesthesia Practice can aide in understanding their very specific role in the care of patients.
There are many things I hope to accomplish in my lifetime, but the most important is having a positive impact on others. I grew up knowing I wanted to make a difference and eventually found my calling through nursing. Nursing has taught me to be selfless and has challenged me in more ways than I could have ever imagined. Although the two and a half years of working as a bedside nurse has fulfilled my expectations, I feel am now ready to begin pursuing my goal of becoming a nurse anesthetist. I was first introduced to this area of nursing after having surgery to repair my torn ACL.
The career I plan on pursuing will be Nurse Assistant. Some people may wonder why I decided to choose Nursing Assistant so now I want to tell you why. Ever since I was a little girl I loved watching nurses do their job like in hospitals in other places. I never really actually realized how much I really wanted to end up being a Certified Nurse Assistant until I witnessed some death right in front me. I watched that person get hit and just laid there and was just dying and I was just wishing I could’ve done something to help that innocent man. And while I use to sit at the hospital with my mother I had seen how caring and proficient they were to her. All the things I’ve witnessed and being through made me open my eyes and realize the Nursing was for me and I
To begin with, I am currently going to East Valley Institute of Technology to become a certified medical assistant. After my senior year I will continue my schooling in order to go into the health care. I will do this by continuing to go to Mesa Community College were I will finish to get my associates in applied science of nurse. When I have finished that I will transfer to the university of Arizona to become part of their nursing program, at the same time work on getting my bachelor's and master's degree. This will help be to become an RN. My ultimate goal is to become a registered nurse working in the emergency room, as well as hopefully travel around the world as a missionary nurse to help others in
Even at a young age, people begin to ask you what you want to be when you grow up. Children’s answers will range anywhere from ballerina, to firefighter, to President of the United States. However, as you get older, the question becomes more serious. As a high schooler, you feel as if you need to know exactly where you will end up thirty years into the future. Since senior year began, I have tried my best to understand my strengths and goals in life so that I can prepare for my future.
Advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs), whether they are nurse practitioners (NP), clinical nurse specialists (CNS), certified nurse anesthetists (CRNA), or nurse midwife (CNM), play a pivotal role in health care (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2015). APNs are quite often providing primary, preventative, chronic, and routine care to patients. According to BMJ Open (Kanda et al., 2015) nurses are on the frontline and continue to be the largest profession in the world. APRNs obtain at least a Master’s degree, have an expert knowledge base, possess superlative clinical skills and demonstrate complex decision making skills often time utilizing the interdisciplinary team approach. As Indicated by the Journal of Pediatric Health Care,
I have a lot of dreams. Dreams to change the world and do great things. My first dream is to receive my Bachelor of Science in Nursing, followed by working as a nurse for a few years to gain hands-on experience. Second, I intend to further my education by obtaining a Master’s degree and working on improving my skills, knowledge, and understandings of the nursing field. I want to be a nurse anesthetist. They administer anesthesia to patients. When I eventually retire, I intend on giving back to future generations of nurses by becoming a Nursing Instructor, educating them and watching them grow and develop into the best-equipped nurses they can be. As a result of my experiences in life, I am more mature, grounded, and I realize that even when
My educational intentions and goals are to attend the University of Arizona and earn my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I then plan on gaining experience in nursing at a local hospital before applying to the Doctor of Nursing Practice program to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist. I plan on becoming a nurse anesthetist to serve those in pain and relieve patients of their pain. I have many life goals because I strive for many opportunities. A few of my life goals are to serve in college preparatory programs as a tutor or a program specialist, give a university commencement address, write a best-selling book, create a high school curriculum guide for students interested in becoming a CRNA, Earn my Bachelor’s and then a Master’s degree, travel, and most importantly advocate educating patients on how to treat their diseases and illnesses for the well-being of patients and care for others.
Setting goals is what drives people to growth and change within themselves. If one fails to dream and sets goals, it is unlikely the will grow or change (Scott, 2014). Allowing myself to set goals is a personal commitment and a drive to make change. Growing, educating and knowledge with time allows one to feel safe to dream and thrive to make better and larger goals. My first goal after obtaining my BSN in April 2017 is to work on myself and my family. In my career, my goal will be to work on my clinical ladder and seek ways to improve myself and my facility. There are many committees I would like to join and be a part of at work. I know I will have reached my goal when I have moved up several levels on the clinical ladder. My plans for professional development in the next three to 10 - 15 years will still be working at the bedside spreading my knowledge to others who are willing to learn. If financially I am able I would like to pursue my MSN. Being a leader is something that inspires me and I wish to be knowledgeable enough to help and teach others later in life. The final goal would be to not retire, but to cut down to part time and remain at the bedside. I would love to travel and volunteer my time to others in need of healthcare outside of the US. I will know I have reached this goal when I am at peace
My Future Goal of Becoming a Registered Nurse From a very young age, I was fascinated by hospitals and everything that went on in them. I remember when I was little, visiting my Grandpa in the hospital and just being amazed by all the commotion in the halls, the beeps of the machines and the compassion my Grandpa’s nurse had while caring for him. It was then that I knew, I would become a nurse. 3 years ago, I had the privilege of attending the birth of my nephew.
When I think of my future, I can’t see myself in any other field besides medical. More specifically, I can not picture myself being anything other than a nurse. Many of my life experiences have began to prepare me to enter into the nursing field.
