Research paper: Nursing “Nurses dispense comfort, compassion, and caring without even a prescription” (Val Saintsbury 2010). This quote is only one, of among thousands of quotes that represent nursing. There are thousands of definition of what a nurse is but there is not one simple definition that we can use to determine the meaning of a nurse. Nursing is one of the most competitive fields in college. With that being said, nursing has a variety of positions that requires a heart, and a head of determination to accomplish such a goal. Being a nurse is not something small, it reflects your personality and who you are. I picked the career of nursing because its my passion to become one. Being a nurse comes with education requirements that is very difficult. Sue Smith, executive chief nurse at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust, started as a healthcare support worker in 1987. Sue Smith was interviewed and she was asked what made her become a nurse and her response was “it was one profession where I can make a difference every day”. (Smith 2015). Her response was very truthful and inspiring to others who want to become a nurse. There are several requirements that you must have in order to become a nurse (registered nurse). You need to start off with getting a high school diploma. After you graduate, enroll yourself in a college where they offer a BSN (bachelors degree in nursing). It seems so easy but that is just the beginning of a long, challenging plan!
