Imagine living in a nursing home. You would be stuck inside most of the day, and wouldn’t be able to take care of yourself. You’ll have people helping you with simple tasks, but you won’t have anyone to talk and interact with you much. You have some family that can visit you, but they won’t be able to visit everyday. Sometimes your family might not have the emotional strength to come everyday due to how bad your health conditions might be. If your family doesn’t visit, who else will? I believe in volunteering at nursing homes because someone needs to accompany the abandoned residents. I volunteered at two nursing homes in Denver, Colorado. The lady that organized all the activities we did with the residents said that they didn’t get many visitors because they couldn’t recognize their own family, so their family didn’t visit often because it is challenging on them to see their relative in that condition. The residents I worked with had Alzheimer's and dementia. That made me realize living at a nursing home could get lonely. I talked and interacted with the residents. …show more content…
The coordinator had us get to know the resident, then we would do other activities, such as; singing, dancing, and coloring. Shirley got distracted a lot but she did sing and dance. I thought it was intriguing getting to know her because she traveled to a lot of interesting places. I saw how excited she was talking about what she remembered doing in the past. It made me realize how one conversation with someone in a nursing home can impact their day. Now I try to use all my words in a beneficial way, to help benefit me or someone else. The next nursing home was a complete different experience for
Three years ago, I had the pleasure of spending quality time with senior citizens in my local community at Sunrise Assisted Living. During my visits I read aloud to residents, listened to their life experiences, baked cookies and played board games with the residents.
“The Palace” is located in the heart of the gables. It is one of the top notch awarded nursing home facilities for seniors stated by many families. Currently being an employee at this facility, I am learning the frightful stories of senior living. Even the Palace one of the most expensive, awarded senior living is actually a terrible place for the elderly. Especially, working at the Front Desk as the receptionist, I have seen firsthand how these poor seniors are forced into these haunted “luxurious” homes. The marble of the building has been often a misleading reason for placing their parent or grandparent in such terrible care. Most humans tend to judge by the appearance of the nursing homes rather than further investigating any violations that the facilities may have. From my own experience with my grandmother, I know it can be very difficult to take care of a senior citizen, especially when they suffer from various conditions and are just not safe in their home. Once adults become seniors, they require a lot of attention and assistance, which is hard when running a whole household and a career. But placing your loved one in one of these facilities can just shorten the amount of time they have to live. Also, it can be very expensive. Lastly, nursing home makes seniors feel the lack of freedom.
The delivery of Healthcare is a high touch enterprise that calls for interaction among every stakeholder within the healthcare sphere. Communication, whether interpersonal or intrapersonal, is a crucial part of these dealings and may be transformed by the intellectual use of communication tools. Information is the means of support of healthcare. Therefore, communication systems are the backbone that supports the whole idea. Care of patients in the nursing homes now almost unavoidably entails many different people, all with the need to share patient information and talk about their organization. As a result
Long-Term Care is the retirement crisis that no one is talking about. There is an increasing demand for long-term care services because Americans are living longer with chronic health conditions. For Example, Veterans may live with family or alone and need services that their caregiver can no longer provide or may outlive their primary caregiver. Nursing home placement seems like the only option.

I believe each younger generation is the current generation future so we should teach our children right and watch them grow. We should support our children to the highest standard and let them know to never be afraid to want to know more. We should encourage our children to do their best and try their best at all times. I say this because our children need us they need us to let them know they are safe and that we will not harm them in any way. I want to know why and how some people could ever harm a child. Unfortunately somethings cannot be explained or figured out sometimes we just have to live without knowing. Before, during, and after trauma we are supposed to be there to shelter our child. There needs to be a better protection service
What would it mean to stay in a stranger's house and take care of someone's daily needs that he/she requests help with? Could some random high schooler go and do some form of action like this without a high level of nursing requirements? These qualities perfectly describe a home health aide. A home health aide is someone who takes care of elderly people in a senior citizen's home and assists with cleaning, cooking, and even helping senior citizens bathe, as well as completing their everyday tasks. Home health aides can become emotionally involved in their work as well. Some of the most important things to keep in mind when becoming a home health aide are educational requirements, job opportunities, and salary range, not to mention the professional duties, job benefits, and the job drawbacks. Becoming a home health aide is not
Many seniors live in areas where cold weather is a way of life, especially in winter. These are not the chilly breezes that come off the water in Florida, these are freezing temperatures that can cause severe hardships, loss of power and electricity, frozen pipes, and loss of services. In-home care personnel can help your senior loved ones prepare for the cold weather.
Growing up with your grandparents has its benefits. I remember waking up to freshly baked biscuits and fried sliced ham on Saturday mornings just before cartoons. Riding to the pharmacy with my grandfather to pick up his medicine was one of my favorite trips. We would always stop for ice cream before we returned home. Soaking in the knowledge that streamed from the lips of your elders can go unappreciated until you are an adult. Watching people age gives you an understanding of what is important to seniors as they transition to retirement and lonIg-term care. Seniors value the ability to live and enjoy a life that includes independence, family, and home. In today's economy, there is a shortage of health care professionals. Home healthcare services are vital due to the aging US population and need for increased continuum of care.
