I believe each younger generation is the current generation future so we should teach our children right and watch them grow. We should support our children to the highest standard and let them know to never be afraid to want to know more. We should encourage our children to do their best and try their best at all times. I say this because our children need us they need us to let them know they are safe and that we will not harm them in any way. I want to know why and how some people could ever harm a child. Unfortunately somethings cannot be explained or figured out sometimes we just have to live without knowing. Before, during, and after trauma we are supposed to be there to shelter our child. Support groups is a form of a therapeutic tool to comfort the families through any tough times. Being a foster or adoptive parent is not always easy you’re dealing with someone else child that could be a child that has been through a traumatic situation. Even with treatment of, the family and children may not be able to remain in the home. Out-of-home care can be foster care or some type of group or residential setting. Ideally, if substitute care becomes necessary. There can be problems with foster care “often the court orders that children be placed in foster care for their protection and the parents are forced to comply.” (Understanding child abuse and Neglect pg.316). There can be alternatives to foster care if for any reason there should be. Sometimes foster care is a last resort for protective work, then the agency has to figure out what those alternatives can be. Fining a placement for children takes a lot of work agencies can’t just place a child anywhere there has to certain procedures. Like background checks of those who are foster parents. In some situations, foster placement is inevitable. According to DCS worker Eric Fikes DCS always offer plenty other options before and after a temporary or permit removal of a child (s) that has gone through or still dealing with trauma. Depending on what type of trauma the child has suffered; sexual abuse, physical abuse, and or neglect. There can be temporary/permeant removal of child (s). With sexual abuse if the abuser is no longer in the home there is no need for removal. With physical abuse there are options for both the parent and the child. Parenting classes and safety plans to stop future physical abuse. With any kind of neglect there are always other ways to assist trauma children. “DCS number one goal is to reunify the child back with the parents.” (DCS worker Eric Fike).
