The book 'Tales of a Midwife' has inspired me to choose a career as a nurse. This book has given me the idea of the nursing life and the responsibilities nurses have to take in order to be a successful nurse. While visiting the hospital to see my baby cousin who was under special support as he was a premature baby, I felt involved emotionally. Afterwards, it made me eager to know the reason behind his medical condition and how to overcome it. While noticing the nurse at the ward as she approaches her patient I observed her actions towards the baby and how she monitored well to get results as she cannot communicate verbally. This is another reason for my career choice as a child nurse.
The research and practical skills I have gained from studying BTEC Applied Science have helped me to produce a high standard of work within tight deadlines. I am ready to use skills and the independence I have gained from applied science into higher education. I enjoyed

I enjoyed the day testing blood pressure on staff and individuals; I also experienced using a stethoscope to check for the heartbeats of a patient simulator. I am a fully certified first aid trainer which was with St Johns Ambulance; this will help me to take responsibility in an emergency situation. The whole experience was full of learning opportunities which were exciting and rewarded. During the course, I had a chance to communicate and build a good relationship with the trainees and a diverse range of individuals. I have volunteered at Fara charity shop during the holidays to develop my communication skills and experience of working with customers. I currently work part-time at McDonald's, whereby I have experienced many challenging situations such as vulnerable customers, therefore, I resolved this in a calming polite manner to diffuse the
My inspiration to pursue a lifelong career in nursing derived from witnessing a close individual succumb to a painful and chronic disease when I was the tender age of 6. I pondered and researched endlessly on the symptoms and damage caused by that disease until I comprehended its origin and everlasting effects. The memory of witnessing that individual die will continue to plague my memories and serve as a reminder of why I continue to strive for my goals today. From that point on, I knew exactly the person I aspired to be in the future—a nurse. I was fascinated with acquiring knowledge about the human body and diseases. In high school, I applied to a local hospital to become a candystriper to gain more insight about the medical field and nursing. I was placed into the endoscopy department and it was there where I truly established my determination to take on the challenge of becoming a nurse. I witnessed and experienced a myriad of things during my time there. I grasped how to become more compassionate and to prioritize one’s life and safety above everything. The hospital became my personified version of Utopia.
In the corner of the small hospital room stood a shy little girl. “You shouldn't be in here, honey”, my mother said as she nudged me out of the room where my grandfather lay dying. At the time, I couldn't understand the enormity of the situation. Ignorant to what was happening around me, my innocent mind fled with curiosity. The beeping of the machines and the soft quick steps of nurses captivated my attention. I was fascinated with this strange new world. This is the moment that sparked my desire to become someone great; a nurse.
Given the goals of WRITE, please state why you should participate in the next class of students. Growing up in rural Wyoming instilled within me a desire to work toward improving access to medical care in rural areas, and I feel my participation in WRITE would equip me with the skills and tools necessary to pursue this goal. I possess a unique perspective into rural communities and will be able to share this with physicians and patients while deepening my understanding of health care challenges in rural areas. I enjoy immersing myself in novel situations in order to learn about cultures, practices, people, and worldviews which differ from my own. I strongly believe in a holistic view of medicine: empowering patients to become partners in
I wish to be considered for the Los Angeles City College Registered Nursing Program, because I believe that this program will provide me with the techniques and knowledge to excel in patient care and become a successful nurse. I always knew that I wanted to make a difference in people’s lives; after taking a few perquisites for nursing, I found that the science aspect of it piqued my interest. Studying about the functions of the human body, and how the environment, medicine, and genetics affect homeostasis, caused me to develop a passion for nursing. Therefore, I exposed myself to the hospital environment by volunteering in the ICU at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center. My experience in the ICU was motivational and inspiring. I loved walking

Vivian Onyechi Statement of Purpose Health care has been at the forefront of my life. Growing up I always knew that I wanted to be in the Health field, but I did not know what direction I would go. You see I come from a country where we didn't take healthcare seriously until you had to go to a hospital. One would think that going to a hospital would reassure you that everything would be alright but that is not the case. The system is designed to make health professionals think of themselves and how they can profit off your misery while incompetence is the order of the day.

Having stood beside my husband for nine months as he struggled through a massive brain injury gave me a firsthand perspective of the power of nurses. Although I had been a new nurse at the time, this experience completely changed my viewpoint. Their compassion, empathy, knowledge, and trust was unprecedented and helped me through many painful days. Devastatingly, after a courageous fight, my husband passed away. This was undoubtedly the most heartbreaking experience in my life.
Why do you want to pursue a graduate degree in your chosen field of study and why do you want to pursue a graduate degree at Clemson University?
My interest in nursing started unexpectedly when I became the main caregiver for my family. I had the responsibilities of helping my father who was diagnosed with cancer and raising my daughter as a single-teenaged parent. After pursuing my dreams and working several years as a nurse, I have been introduced to different aspects of nursing. I fell in love with the field of orthopedics because I was amazed at how orthopedic surgeons could remodel bones and help patients with serious injuries regain their strength and mobility. This inspired me to become an advanced practiced nurse in the field of orthopedics.
I joined the U.S. Army in 2004 and served in Operation Enduring Freedom. During a deployment, I was willing to volunteer for mortuary and humanitarian missions and awarded certificates of appreciation for those missions in Afghanistan. The experiences were priceless and more valuable than any awards or accolades that I could have ever gotten. It also allowed me to learn more about human life and how precious it really is. All of this experience with humaritan efforts ultimately led me to choose nursing as a professional career to help others and to make changes in their lives.
I had known of my passion for the nursing industry from a young age, choosing Florence Nightingale as a character for my Year 2 play. As I grew older, I turned to my aunts, two of which are specialist midwives, for guidance. They provided me with knowledge on situations midwives face, such as the hardships surrounding stillborn babies and other possible birth complications. While in America, I had the opportunity to visit a university, where discussions on various careers were taking place - including midwifery. The midwives discussed their jobs within the hospital, including connections with the patients, the work environment and the working hours.
My calling to nursing started when my father got diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2015. I watched him suffering through radiation and chemotherapy, but what got him through those hard times was the help of some great loving and caring nurses. As I became more involved in taking care of him, my passion for nursing had greatly increased. Now, for nine years, I have maintained a commitment to caring for others in the field of Nursing. Being a registered nurse (RN), I have taken care of one patient at a time, which I have been involved in the amelioration of lives, and have only been left wanting to give and do more. Pursuing a master of science in nursing (MSN) is more than just a logical or natural progression for my career. It is a life choice, one that is backed by highly refined clinical judgments and in-depth exposure to an array of set-ups, and levels of care. In this personal statement, I will deeper highlight an explanation of my career goals, the reasons for my choice of Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) specialization, and lastly the reason for pursuing an advanced degree in nursing.
All throughout high school, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I grew up as far as majoring and what career I wanted but I knew for a fact that I wanted to be in the medical field. The reason I came up with this idea is helping people is a personal trait about myself. I take pride and passion about along with the amazement my mind undergoes of the anatomy and physiology of the human body so I continue to look forward furthering my knowledge about it. My senior year in high school, I took Health Science II the first semester then Nursing Fundamentals the second semester; after realizing how much I enjoyed the clinical hours helping people with the activities of daily living, keeping themselves clean, and bonding with them showed me nursing is the pathway for me.
