I have been a registered nurse for over a decade and currently practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner at an academic institution clinically focused in addiction psychiatry. I have worked in multiple areas of nursing over my career prior to mental health that include medical-surgical nursing, respiratory nursing, hospice nursing, home care pedicatric nursing, and nursing education.

All assignments are due on the assigned dates that are scheduled in class. Assignments are considered late if they are not turned in on the time that was designated to be handed in. All assignments turned in by next class period will be subjected to a non-negotiable 75% penalty. If it is handed in two days after the designated date, there will be a non-negotiable 50% penalty. Late work will not be accepted nor evaluated if turned in three or more class periods after the assignment was due.

The course material is difficult to understand and the course is moving at an extremely fast pace. Professor McQueen is an excellent instructor. His syllabus goes into great detail about what expectations students should have for the course, including timelines and requirements. Professor McQueen responds promptly and professionally to all email questions and concerns. There is never a delay on the posting of assignments; and when turned in, assignments are graded in a timely manner. He also gives useful feedback concerning the submission and areas for improvement. In the Unit 2 Seminar we discussed three main points: finding the KU library, points on how to conduct research, and using APA. Instructions on how to access the Kaplan University library were explained and addressed. The details of how to contact the librarian via email or chat and points on how to search the database were given. We were encouraged to visit the site and check out the different components to familiarize ourselves with using the site. We were told that there were also instructions posted in the doc sharing tab on “Finding the KU Library Databases” to assist us in our discussion board assignment.
