Obesity have been increasing over the last 30 years, with high rates globally, and among all economic levels. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures: Obesity, a common and costly health issue that increases risk for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and cancer, affects more than one-third of adults and 17 percent of youth in the United States. By the numbers, 78 million adults and 12 million children are obese—figures many regard as an epidemic (“Obesity Statistics in the United States”, 2014). The increased prevalence of obesity through the last years is not an unexpected number, the world has change in personal, social and economic aspects, an inactive life in front of tablets, television, or phones, increase daily, accompanied of lifestyles changes, unhealthy diet habits, and scarce motivation for exercise. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), release significant adult obesity facts: Non-Hispanic blacks have the highest age-adjusted rates of obesity (47.8%) followed by Hispanics (42.5%), non-Hispanic whites (32.6%), and non-Hispanic Asians (10.8%). Obesity is higher among middle age adults, 40-59 years old (39.5%) than among younger adults, age 20-39 (30.3%) or adults over 60 or above (35.4%) adults (“Adult Obesity Facts”, 2015).
