Observation Experience:
Comments: If you are not familiar with Greene Town center, start reading from the Background section otherwise skip to the Observation section.
I had two hypotheses: first hypothesis, people come to the Greene Town Center for shopping and entertainment which is almost correct. The second hypothesis, many kids are wearing Halloween costumes since my observation in the Halloween weekend. Unfortunately, there are no kids were wearing Halloween costumes.
Observation group dynamics and interaction among people in groups are interesting to me. I like to analyze people’s behavior and interactions with others.
Background: Many people in Dayton city or its neighbors like to go to Greene Town Center (called The Greene) especially in the summer session or nice weather days. The Greene is a mixed-use development center, which its main advantage is an outdoor center. The Greene has more than one hundred shops and restaurants as well as luxury living apartments and several services such as nail salon, spa, and a hair salon. The Greene is a civic center that has weekly events such as music bands for kids and adults. The Greene is great for shopping, dining, and entertainment, also for the family gathering or business meeting.
The Assignment: I observed people’s behaviors in the Greene Town Center on Friday when people started their weekend. I chose this day because I expected that there are diverse groups in the Greene that I can observe. In
In my visit I saw the Police Department, the new Baseball Field "Dunkin Donuts" that is not in use yet, and many parking lots almost full. I did appreciate many office buildings and hotels, and also saw the Capital Community College's building. I saw High school Students walking in uniform, also students from the College, and people well dress probably from offices and having lunch at that time. The area is more work related, looks clean and has many fast food places and restaurants around. There was a bus stop full of people awaiting and boarding the public transportation. The area is work and business related and it counts with several
(City-Data., 2015)What ethnicity or race is most common?According to the city data statistics it is predominately Caucasian. What is the general appearance of those you observed? Do they appear healthy? Do you notice any obvious disabilities, such as those with walkers or wheelchairs, or those with mental or emotional disabilities? Where do they live? From my observations they all appear healthy. I did not notice anyone with a walker, wheelchair or cane. No one appeared to be with mental or emotional disabilities at this time. I do not know where they live. Do you notice residents who are well nourished or malnourished, thin or obese, vigorous or frail, unkempt or scantily dressed, or well dressed and clean? All appeared nourished. One of the adult males sitting on a picnic table by the playground was slightly obese but was able to ambulate and function on the playground with his children and did not appear to be struggling. All appeared to be dressed appropriately but it was hard to tell as they were all wearing coats. The joggers were wearing workout clothes and tennis shoes. Do you notice tourists or visitors to the community?I did not observe anyone who appeared to be visiting at this time. Do you observe any people who appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol?I did not observe anyone who
In Nightingale Square, a small run down ‘mom & pop’ grocery store, a newly updated/built Downtown Store. I noticed many vehicles parked on the streets and residents walking the streets.
In order to study human development and perform naturalistic observation I went to the mall. I selected a 9-year-old white girl as the subject for my observation. I observed the subject for 30 minutes. During my observation the subject was not interrupted and was not aware of my study.
Which author or institution is associated with coining the phrase, “the apartheid of schooling in America.”
It is a clean and stylish residential area ideal for families, with an ongoing economic growth and a friendly neighborhood vibe. It has excellent sporting facilities, two golf courses, bowling clubs, playing fields, a skate park, boutique
The kinds of groups that Interactionist study are diverse. They can differ between teenage gangs and older people, teachers and students and patients and visitors on hospital wards. They study how these groups respond to each other to see if our behaviour is a result of how we interpret situations within smaller groups.
Getting to Know the Sabin Neighborhood: Schools, Home Values, Parks, Dining, Walk Score and More
The people are very visible in the community. They were observed running, jogging, walking, skate boarding, sitting on park benches, congregating in the front of convenient store smoking and drinking beers what I believed to be beers because the containers are in a paper bag.
It takes a lot to rip apart a town. It takes a lot to ravage a community, particularly one as tightly-knit as Ridgway, Pennsylvania. Nestled snugly at the southeastern edge of Allegheny National Forest, Ridgway’s population has dipped to just below four thousand in recent years, though in its 191 years of settlement, it’s never once been called home by more than roughly six thousand people at once. Its proximity to the forest attracts huntsmen and hikers alike, but unless one were actively looking for the town—the square mileage of which comes in at just over two and a half miles, total—it would be remarkably easy for Ridgway to not make a blip on someone’s radar at all. It’s small, out of the way, and most of all, quiet—a recipe for insignificance.
Investigate: Their is lots of trees and greenery and a big building. There are circle grass areas
The reason for this is because of the Halloween parade. Through the enitre month of October you can and will see people building floats in prep for the parade. The kids in Tomsriver actually have to trick or treat the day before Halloween because its such a big event. The Tomsriver Halloween parade has been going for 88 years and is now the 3rd largest Halloween parade in the world. People use to line up chairs up and down main street so they could get a good seat. I was in the parade twice actually. Both times it was a great experience if not a little embarssing. I was in the parade because of boy scouts. I remember walking down the street with my silly uniform on trying to be cool to impress the girls on the side that were watching. ( some things never change) I live about a block from mainstreet so the day of the parade is always crazy by me. Cars are lined up and down my street a few times Ive thought about charging people to park in front of my house , trust me I would have made a killing. Halloween day in Tomsriver has such a great atmosthphere its like everyone is town comes together for one night. Though it may be crazy and kind of annyoing to see all the cars honking and parked on my street i wouldnt want it any other
This paper is going to describe the behavioral and cognitive traits that can be inferred from that behavior of a two year old child that I observed in the park as she was playing with her mother. The child that I observed is a girl, has blonde hair and is physically well-developed for her age. She is around two, weighs approximately twenty (20) pounds and is about two (2) feet tall.
When Willy and Linda purchased their home in Brooklyn, it seemed far removed form the city. Willy was young and strong and he believed he had a future full of success. He and his sons cut the tree limbs that threatened his home and put up a hammock that he would enjoy with his children. The green fields
Hayden Park was an interesting place for a Freeze-Frame assignment. For those who have not heard of a Freeze-Frame, it is simply sitting in one spot for 15 to 20 minutes observing ones surroundings. So to continue, at first glance, Hayden Park is a typical Valley of the Sun type park. Most of these typical parks have grass, picnic tables, some trees, and usually some sort of sports availability such as a basketball court or soccer field, or both. In addition, the parks also have pleasant surroundings. But Hayden Park is located in South Phoenix, so automatically the typical standard for parks is altered.
