Through his story he looks at human nature in the areas of men’s friendship, loneliness, and meanness or bullying. In the book, Of Mice and Men, Lennie is killed by his friend, George, because Lennie killed Curley’s Wife. This is not mercy killing since George doesn't want anyone else to hurt or kill Lennie, so he kills him because then he won't have to live with the pain that someone else killed him. When Candy says “I ought to if shot that dog myself, George. I shouldn't ought to let no stranger shoot my dog.” (Steinbeck 61), he means that he rather of shot his own dog rather than Carlson.

Jealousy is described as someone who is feeling or showing envy of someone because of their achievements and advantages. Jealousy plays a major role in Shakespeare’s play Othello. There are many instances throughout the play that show jealousy between the characters. Throughout the play, jealousy is used for destructive purposes only.
