Old Smeller It was Lilian’s big day. Dr. and Mrs. Vandertramp were thrilled that Lillian was so happy on her 9th birthday. Her smile was so bright when she went down(Desendre) the stairs that day. They were throwing her a party with all of her friends coming. The party didn’t start till 1:30 so she still had plenty of time to get ready. She wore a big pink dress with a plump pink bow on the back. She went out(Sortir) the back door to the backyard and all her friends were there. She looked on the present table and was so excited to see all the big packages. She had no idea what could be in any of them. Her parents had said that she couldn’t open them until they had some fun and ate cake. So Lilian had some fun playing games and eating the awesome …show more content…
She couldn’t believe what she saw. It was a big ugly old dog that smelled. She asked her parents what it was. Dr. and Mrs. Vandertramp explained to her that they thought that instead of getting her an older shelter dog that had no home would be nice. She was furious! When they asked her what she was going to name him she said “Well he’s old and stinky so I’ll call him…Old Smeller!”. And after saying that she went up(Monter) the stairs to her room. As she went up she told Old Smeller to stay(Rester) right where he was. She didn’t want him to enter(Entrer) her room and make it all stinky. Once she was upstairs she put her pajamas on and went to bed. The next morning, she woke up to Old Smeller licking her face. She was laughing until she remembered that she had hated the dog last night. So she pushed him off the bed and got ready for school. When she came back home Old Smeller was waiting at the door for her. She found herself smiling at the sight of the old dog trotting around by the door. Lilian thought that maybe he wouldn’t stink so much if she gave him a bath so she washed him off outside and then took him on a walk to dry him off. So once he didn’t smell as gross and the dirt in his fur was washed off he didn’t …show more content…
When he went to get back up from eating he fell(Tomber) over and it looked like he hit his head really hard on the tiled floor. Lilian ran over to him to see if he was okay, but he didn’t look so good, he couldn’t even stand back up. So Dr. and Mrs. Vandertramp decided to take him to the vet. When they arrived(Arriver) at the vet they took Old Smeller out of the car and took him to the doctor in the vet’s office. They waited in the waiting room while the doctor checked on their dog. When the doctor returned(Retourner) to the waiting room with Old Smeller she told then that Old Smeller he became(Devenir) sick and he couldn’t stand back up right away because he was getting old and that there was nothing they could do. She told them that the best thing to do was to take him home and make sure he was comfortable in his last moment with them. Lilian was feeling surprisingly sad to hear about the end of her new dog’s life being so close. She had only had him for about a week but she had spent so much time with him. So they went back(Revenir) home and made sure Old Smeller was in his soft doggy bed, and Lilian even let him lay on her favorite blanket. Lilian was about to go(Aller) get Old Smeller some water until she noticed it just looked like he
As they take the dog on a leash down to the E-room, it wags its tail and trembles in fear. Its excited for the attention, but at the same time is in fear of what he's being led to. All the dogs stop barking as they lead him down the isle. They know what's going on. One of their fellow friends is going to die, and they may be next. They place the dog on an old blanket on the concrete floor and shave off a patch of fur on his leg. The dog starts to tremble more. A tourniquet is wrapped slowly around his leg and a syringe of cool blue liquid death enters his body making his eyelids grow heavy and eventually falling limp in the arms of the employee. His heartbeat slowly dissapates and then stops. This, unfortunately, is a regular occurence in animal shelters today.
One night a young girl named Lily Foster is left alone for the night in her very large country house, while her parents drove out of town for a party. This was fine with Lily especially since she had her faithful dog, Scout, and her cell phone. Finally, her parents said, ‘’Be safe and don’t go outside.’’ Lily gave them a hug and said, ‘’Of course and have fun!’’ Once her parents drove off in their car, she made herself something to eat and sat down at the kitchen table.
The room was musty and dimly lit. A heavy curtain was drawn across the only window, allowing only a slight and pathetic slant of balmy sunlight to slip in. Faintly, the air tasted of dog urine and stray fur—a fusty undertone hovering beneath ghostly.
The welfare machine went by her house in the middle of the night to check on her. It was then that she explained the situation with her cat, and how very lonely she was. The welfare machine recommended to her that she could remove one of her feet and transform it to be like a piglet. The old

Jeannette Walls was in a taxi wondering if she had been overdressed for the evening. She was stuck in traffic when she saw her mother Rose 15 feet away. The others had all dashed away to the woods but there was still Lennie, who couldn’t find a good hiding place to stay in. He finally heard George say “come out, come out, wherever you are!” Lennie panicked until he saw a brown, beat up, little shack in the corner of his eye and began to flee to the direction of it. To Lennie’s luck, there was no presence of life in the room. He slightly peeked in, looking into the dark-filled room. As Lennie opened the door, it made a big “screeching sound” and heard George call “who’s there?” He quickly went inside and closed the door, falling onto his knees. Lennie had always been scared of the dark. Especially when no one was there. The room began to smell like burned bark with mold going across the room. Lennie had to squat down in order to fit perfectly without touching anything that would drop and him give up his hiding spot. There was no noise made now. The light visible through the crack in the roof began to fade. The sound of a whisper now seemed like a scream. After the countless hours staying inside the shack, his neck began to cramp up and no one seemed to notice that he was in this small house. He wanted someone to notice him in this beat-up shack. Lennie scrutinized if he should just sneak out of the shack and be better off with the other kids rather than be left alone in the dark, spooky house. He also wondered if all the other kids were tagged and captured and he was left alone to be

An hour after the moving van parked in the driveway of 406 Clybourne street in Clybourne Park the younger family waved at the van when it slowly moved away and they went inside when the van was out of view. The family worked together to put away their belongings and they stood hand and hand and they took a breath of fresh air. Beneatha went first to her room to put away her stuff then Ruth and Walter went next and Travis left to go hunt for his new room. They all left until Mama was left there alone looking out the big window. Mama gingerly stepped to the window and put her plant down smiling in thought. When the door bell rung she jumped and went to the door. At the door was a white woman and when the door opened and saw mama she flinched and said “Hello, I’m your neighbor it’s nice to meet you.” She said “I’m Susan it’s nice to meet you.” She said this slowly, deliberately like she’s talking to a foreign person and Susan put out her hand and mama did not reach for it her face was just a blank stare. Then after a while mama stammered “h-hello I’m Lena Younger its very nice to meet you.” And she reached out and shook Susan’s hand and Susan quickly took it away. Then she said “Well I just came to say,” Susan took mama’s shirt and pulled her face so close to mama’s that their noses were touching. “stay out of our way, we will stay out of your way if you stay out of ours.” She shoved mama into their brand new house and slammed the door so hard that
Sizzle Sizzle. “What is that Glorious Smell” says Kevin. He rushes out of his bed following the smell like a dog chasing a bone. “ This smells great” says Kevin as he walked into the kitchen to see his wife cooking breakfast. He chows down the food so fast that he gets a stomach cramp as he gets up. As Kevin walks back to his room, he remembers what had happened to him a few weeks earlier. Kevin and his team had lost in the conference finals of the NBA Playoffs. The whole nation had hope they would win the NBA Championship, but that standard didn’t last for long. Kevin wiped away the memory and got dressed for basketball camp that they had for the Oklahoma Thunder. Then a thought came to his mind, the Golden State Warriors had just won the NBA championship, Kevin had never won a NBA championship, this could be his chance but he didn’t have time to think about it any longer or he would be late.
