Although she started out as a telekinetic who supported her twin brother Captain Britain, Psylocke eventually stepped out of his shadow when she was merged with a Japanese martial arts expert. To play Betsy, Munn underwent martial arts training and learned how to fight with a sword.

Everything we do is connected and is a part of who we are. “We are nothing more than a sum of our memories and our experiences”, this is a line from Michael Scott’s The Sorceress but this also shows how we are our experiences. My future goals are a direct result from the life I have experienced and the memories I have. Some of the earliest memories I have are in the cancer wing of the local hospital. Luckily, I was never the one who was sick, my mom was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer that spread to her lymph nodes. She died when I was three, the only memories I have with her are memories of me playing in the hospital waiting room and of her being bedridden.

There’s no point in creating a leading role model for young girls, if it’s overshadowed by the constant over-sexualization of her image. The result of over-sexualizing women can bring dangers to them especially when integrated in current culture. Throughout the history of comics, it is evident that they slowly came to have a huge influence on the youth since they come with the power to morph boys' and girls' minds, they present a huge difference between how men and women are portrayed and tend to be very sexist at times and problematic.
Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) was originally created as a character in FOX’s Batman: The Animated Series to be a humorous sidekick for the Joker. In Harley’s origin story, she began as a psychologist at Arkham Asylum who was assigned to treat the Joker. Eventually, Harley became infatuated with her client and willingly gave up her career in order to be the Joker’s partner in crime. As the animated series and future comics progressed, Harley was reduced to an extremely sexualized female villain for fans to ogle at and a woman who felt a complete loss of identity whenever the Joker was absent.
The "Tomb Raider" reboot release date isn't until two years from now, but it's safe to say that it looks like the film is shaping up to be a good one. The latest news surrounding hte upcoming Alicia Vikander movie is that they've found the actor to play the villain.
Did anyone actually believe she could beat up grown men? I don't. She was very slow and it was almost like the guy was letting her kick his ass. I don't want his character to make it look easy. I know she is pretty much a trained killer but even a trained killer would have a challenge. I don't lack an imagination but things like this (and characters like MODOK) is where it gets to unbelievable for me. I want to be able to be convinced she can kick ass so I can buy her playing Scarlet Witch. But, Scarlet Witch is also very powerful and in early stages with her powers, they fluctuate on her at times which can makes things a bit conflicting which is
The film ‘Valkyrie’ is the most popularised interpretation of the July 20th 1944 bomb plot. As with any dramatisation it is possible for facts to be changed or only certain events to be shown to make it more viewable and exciting. However, the film is largely considered accurate since they consulted many credible historians, their main source being Peter Hofmann. He saw the war first hand, but only as a child, and was therefore unable to truly grasp the events at the time. Later, however, he became fascinated by the July 20th plot and would use it for his doctoral studies in Munich, West Germany. This intellectual background would make his views considerably traditionalist and he is still considered to belong to this school of history. Some more modern historians may claim that this could make his views unreliable since he was subject to the Nazi war propaganda and the post-war emphasis on redeeming the population of Germany from blame by focussing research on the Nazi terror state, instead of the actual part that the average German had in the regime and claiming that the large proportion of them, were moral and democratic. This is a common criticism from many revisionist historians since post-war Germany had many potential motives against freedom of thought on both sides of the wall. The western allies had learned from Versailles and were encouraging a cultural and social shift towards their ideologies while the Russians were doing the same with communism. This split,
The boldest statement off Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman comes not from Ariri, but from Nicki Minaj: “I'm the queen of rap, young Ariana run pop”. While Nicki’s status as the head woman of modern rap is pretty solid, it does tell a lot about Ariana Grande’s ambitions for her third album. Many ex-teen pop idols tried to break their image through shock tactics in the past (see; Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Miley Cyrus). Meanwhile, Ariana’s evolution has been more subtle since leaving the Nickelodeon powerhouse. 2014’s My Everything made a point to make her look like a serious, grown-up artist and if Dangerous Woman is her attempt at becoming a sex-symbol, it is done in a very classy way.
Children always looking for a positive role model to have, and many end up choosing superheroes they see in their favorite comic books or ones they have seen in the media. Since children are so easily affected by things they see in their childhood, having discriminatory elements in these influential characters may be problematic. “The Wonder Woman Precedent: Female (Super) Heroism on Trial” written by Julie D. O’Reilly, was published in the Journal of American Culture in 2005. O’Reilly is a professor of communication and women and gender at Heidelberg University. In “The Wonder Woman Precedent”, she writes about the hardships that female superheroes in the media must face that male superheroes do not go
Israa Mahmoud 2.x -2015 Film review. An analysis of the cinematography of Birdman by Alejandro G. Iñárritu Birdman is one of the latest works by Alejandro G. Iñárritu as a director, writer and producer, where a combination of several actors including Michael Keaton and Edward Norton create a disturbing thriller with a great script. A wonderful cast of Michael Keaton as Riggan Thomson exploits the topic of stardom and uncovers a hidden sight of the inner lives of celebrities. Riggan is a Hollywood actor who plays the superhero Birdman, while he is anguished by a mocking inner voice of Birdman.
Despite many well known names (such as Ian Mckellen) appearing in X-Men all the actors fail to make this film exciting. Hugh Jackman, who has recently starred in the film 'Australia', returns as Wolverine again. Compared to his performance in Australia, X-Men was pretty rubbish. However in my opinion I think Hugh Jackman puts 101% effort into this role. He brings emotion to the character and makes it believable. Especially towards the end of the film when he is faced with a decision on whether or not he should kill Jean to save everyone. He does an outstanding job and makes the whole scene believable. It captures the audience's attention and keeps them on their toes.
