World War II is one of the most recognized battles in the history of the world. The battle originated with Germany’s invasion of Poland. This sparked the beginning of the war, though the United States was not yet involved. The U.S. came into the picture after the attack on Pearl Harbor on the morning of December 7, 1941. Though Japan was the more “direct opponent”, the United States Army Rangers, Marine Corps., and every other branch of military took on Japan and Germany.

Soon after the invasions were ending and Germany and the rest of the axis powers were starting to battle, America was trying its best to stay as far away from war as it could get. Japan had other plans though, on December 7th, 1941. The first US blood was sheded in WWII. The attack on Pearl Harbor was the first fighting on American soil since the Civil War. Thousands of Americans were killed that day, trying to defend themselves against the japanese suprise attack. Not long after the attack ended America declared war on Japan. The United States as a population had been tricked into believing in the, at times, fabricated conditions of its history that had been presented to people as some beautiful stories and myths where nations are viewed as being first-rate in union and morality. These so-called myths were created out of several factors. Because of Hollywood, the vast amounts of government propaganda, and far-reaching economic prosperity, Americans were, for the most part, hidden from the real truth of The Second World War. In this period of time, even, the generation of the Second World War is seen as being top-notch in morality and unity. There was a popular misconception held that there were no problems in terms of ethnicity or gender; it seemed that families were living contented lives and children excelled in school and read all kinds of books (115).
