Oprah Winfrey is a Hero

A hero is someone who is admired and valued for their courage, outstanding achievements, and noble qualities. A hero to one person may not be a hero to another. I strongly agree with this definition for a hero to a person is not always a hero to others. In saying this, my hero is Isabelle Bruce Reid because she was the first female to qualify in Australia as a veterinarian. To me, Isabelle Reid was a name in history who changed the world, is valued and is a great role model.

A hero is a person who is admired for his/her qualities or achievements. Heroes are brave and influential figures who perform selfless deeds to others. These role models give everything and expect nothing in return. An extraordinary/courageous hero named Jackie Robinson is an important individual/leader who has left a positive effect on the world.

Heroes have different backgrounds, personalities, and journeys. A hero is someone who is willing to make sacrifices for others, making their lives a little better. Heroes are there for people; it’s what they do. A very big hero in my life is my mother.

What is a hero? According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the word hero is defined as “a person admired for achievements and noble qualities”. People would typically think about the superheroes in fictional stories if they were to be asked the question, but what about the heroes in real life? Who has the “achievements and noble qualities” that would make them admirable? Perhaps one has those attainments: they would be bold, courageous, and would impact people’s lives; but yet, people would not admire them and call them a hero because everyone has their own perspective and ideas.

What is a hero? You may think a hero is someone who saves the world like Superman or Batman, but a hero is a lot more then that. People like Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, and Martin Luther King Jr. are the real heroes, that we should look up to, not the superheroes that we see on movies. They're the ones who made the world a better place to live on.

A hero to me is somebody that helps people out when they are in trouble. A hero is somebody who gives people strength to go on from life’s difficulties. A hero is also Somebody who saves people's lives when they hit rock bottom. A hero is somebody who will put food on the table, somebody who works hard to pay bills make everybody happy. I also think a hero can be someone who gave up his or her life so another could live. Somebody that helps their kids to become a better person and to make them happy and laugh. A hero, as defined in Webster’s Online Dictionary, is a person who “a person admired for achievements or noble qualities” or “one who shows great courage.” However, a hero is not just a person with outstanding achievements. A hero is a person who is philanthropic, generous, and kind. Heros fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, and do not judge those who they are fighting for. They are charitable in ways other than donating money, they give their time and effort in order to make the lives of others more pleasant. Heros display bravery, as they are willing to go into a dangerous situation to help others that have been aggrieved. Social pressures and judgements do not affect a hero’s willingness to help others, and they are willing to push through what others say

“A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Campbell 1). When we think of heroes most of us think of movie stars or professional athletes, but it’s not always about your popularity or talent it can also be about how you help society. What I think make a great hero is someone who is able to overcome his or her obstacles in life, is highly motivated, and has plenty of bravery.

For me a hero is someone who touches our lives in a personal way and does not do it for themselves.
