Osama Bin Laden was the most wanted man in the world, after the attacks of September 11. On September 11 2001 two planes crashed in to the Twin Tower, another plane crashed in to the pentagon, and another crashed into a field on rout to the nation’s capital, killing three thousand people mainly civilians. (Benson) Hours after the attacks the CIA and FBI stared a search to find who was responsible for the attack; with in the day they found that the terrorism group al-Qaeda was the brains behind the operation. With extensive research American FBI came to the understanding that Osama Bin Laden was the leader of an anti-American terrorism group al-Qaeda group and ordered for the attack. (Benson) After the Bush declared to war on terror (the war to end terrorism) in September 2001 he appointed the CIA and FBI to start the search for Bin Laden, the search started October 2001. (Benson) Shortly after Obama was elected in to office in 2008 he made finding Bin Laden the top of the priority list (Obama). The search for al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden took ten years after extensive CIA research and the brave efforts of seal team six.

On May 2nd, 2011, the people of the United States awoke to some of the best news they would hear for many years to come; Osama bin Laden had been killed. President Barack Obama delivered the message at 7:30AM and the country was buzzing about it for weeks after. Osama bin Laden was a name that every American man, woman, and child knew. On 9-11-01, four planes were hijacked by terrorists and crashed into strategic locations to sow chaos, confusion, death, and destruction into the American people. 2,977 innocent Americans died on that fateful day, and the man who decided they should die and be subject to terror was Osama bin Laden. Since that fateful day, America has donated massive amounts of time and money to find Osama, and bring him to justice. However, time and time again he evaded capture and kept us chasing him.

In 1988, bin Laden created a new group of anti-american semites called al Qaida, that would focus on acts of terrorism instead of trying to start military campaigns. After the Soviets withdrew from Afghanistan in 1989, bin Laden saw this as a golden option so he returned to Saudi Arabia to step up fundraising for this new and more complicated project. After al Qaeda started to really blossom, Osama decided it was time to better protect himself and his family from arrest, or death, and win even more recruits to al Qaeda's mission, bin Laden moved from Sudan to Afghanistan in 1996. During the movement of bin Laden, the scale of al Qaeda's attacks continued to increase. Osama and his forces began to ramp up their attacks. Now bin Laden was conducting large scale raids, attacks, and incersions, such as the attacks on two United States Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar-es-Salaam,

What really started to move him towards retribution was the bombardment of 1982 where America allowed the Israelis to invade Lebanon. He described how he could never forget the scene of children screaming and homes being destroyed. Also, while all of this happened, the whole world was witness to it but did not say or do anything. This ended up resulting in his conclusion to punish the oppressors. He wanted America to taste what it felt like to have the same thing done to them. Osama bin Laden communicated with his organization and the world through several different methods. Before 9/11 bin Laden was already a well-known terrorist. His communication skills and ability to lead an organization were comparable to that of a CEO of a company. (Hoffman, 2003) He was able to easily relay what he wanted done and it got carried out. His methods of communication include: emails, couriers, word of mouth and violence. Each of these proved useful in bin Laden’s quest.

Seal Team Six was sent into his bunker and put an end to his life and his 10-year hide out after the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center. Osama has been the leader of Al-Qaeda since 1988 and since then has committed numerous amounts of terror attacks on all parts of the world. Osama bin Laden has developed over time as a leader of Al-Qaeda, and through his beliefs of Muslim brotherhood, he developed into an extreme Islamic terrorist.
