As early as 70,000 years ago, humans and their ancestors have felt the need to expand. Scientific evidence supports the Out of Africa theory, which suggests that all humans have common ancestors from Africa who migrated to other continents over thousands of years. The necessity to expand continues to this day, with a mission to send humans to Mars underway. Human movement (an act of changing physical location) has influenced the development of civilizations (the stage of human social development and organization that is considered most advanced) studied this semester. Religious, political, and economic development of civilizations were influenced by the migration of humans. Numerous religious impacts occurred as a result of human expansion.
Africa, like many other continents, was a very tremendous and a very diverse civilization that is very complicated to introduce due to all its wonderful but also diverse features and beliefs. From the differences between its society and language to its religion and politics, Africa always had the reputation that its empires, cities, and kingdoms never progressed in the developments and achievements for their civilization. Many people believed that the Europeans were actually the cause of Africa’s achievements and advanced developments for their civilizations. However, this is further than the whole truth. Before the arrival of the Europeans between the 15th and 16th century, African kingdoms, empires, and cities had many achievements and accomplishments
Because of its size, surface features, climate, resources, and strategic importance, Africa became a prime candidate for conquest by ambitious European empires. Although Africa is physically remote from the power centers of Europe, North America, and Asia, it is surrounded by water and can therefore be reached easily from the other continents. This meant that the Europeans needed to establish rules for dealing with one another if they were to avoid constant bloodshed and competition for African resources. The Berlin Conference established those ground rules.
The proles were subjected to do a mandatory exercise in the morning in front of a party member on a telescreen. The living conditions of the people were controlled and there were hidden microphones that assisted in psychological manipulation. In Oceania the people were brainwashed, the party controlled their language, historical records , and thought. The proles worked in cubicles changing the words in the newspaper so it would be in favor of big brother. The party also commands that all loyalty must be given to big brother. The people are not even allowed to believe in god, if they do so they will be placed in jail to be be tortured or they will be killed. The party also killed people for any type of betrayal towards big brother even thoughts
“Before the war, I had a very simple childhood…..and that changed very quickly” (Ishmael Beah-Child Soldier). Imagine the life of an American child, then think, what was life like for a child in Sierra Leone in 1991?... Abuse and torture, leaving you breathless. A child soldier who thereafter, lives with the emotional effects of war looking for a pathway to humanity. If he survives, the flashbacks will haunt him, yet he journeys on. Welcome to childhood... in Sierra Leone.
The language of Islam, Arabic, was able to spread across continents. This commonality between people of different territories brought down the language barrier that was such a problem in intercultural communication. The common language served as a bridge between cultures for trade, which was extremely important to different territories of this time period. Islamic conquest allowed their culture to spread to many different regions. This, in fact was how Islamic territories acted as a bridge between sub-Saharan Africa and other civilizations in the Middle East.
The new imperialism was a major thing in the late 19th and 20th centuries in Africa. There were a lot of negative and positive effects because of the imperialism. The people in Africa during the time of imperialism suffered a lot. Most of which were the negative aspects of the imperialism. The negative aspects caused things like a lot of wars between countries. The negative effect also led to all of the Africans to do labor all of their lives no matter what time of the day or night it is. All of the Africans had to labor to get food for their family and themselves. Many of the colonizers wanted to expand their empire.
During the 19th century Europeans created coca farms in Africa and Asia. The French controlled a coca leading producer called the Ivory Coast. By the 1960’s the Ivory Coast gained independence among the French. For the sake of the Ivory Coast they should produce crops to grow economically. Chocolate is unacceptable for the Ivory Coast because of the children working in plantations, the deforestation, and an unfair share of profit.

The Republic of Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa where the power lies with the people. They have a governmental system which is somewhat similar to that of the United States. They hold elections, have certain requirements for candidates and have two primary political parties, though a third is fighting for a chance in power. It is divided into several districts and provinces and has fairly good relations with many other countries. Sierra Leone is also existing proof that colonization can have beneficial effects on a country without nearly, or completely, eliminating a way of life.
I decided to study Cameroon for this project because my cousin is a part of the Peacecorp. And has been stationed in Cameroon for three years. Her job in Cameroon is to teach young kids how to read a wright English. My cousin says that the primary schoolers which are 8 year olds, come to her with many skills such as knowing how to grow their own crops, cook fufu corn, recite prayers, and do their own laundry by hand; none of which most American kids know how to do when they are 8. Unfortunately the Cameroon kids are lacking other skills like writing, reading, going to museums, and watching movies that included characters from different cultures. So as a conclusion American kids and very different from Cameroon kids but neither is better.
I agree with you James that the complete replacement model or Out of Africa model suggests that modern humans were firstly originated in Africa from a single group of Homo sapiens approximately around 200,000 years ago, which they continuously evolve then migrated out from Africa, then spread out into the broader world throughout Eurasia, which replaced other archaic humans, such as Neandertals in Europe. Researchers like Stringer and Andrew supported this due to the evidence they have shows that the identified oldest fossils of Homo sapiens originated from Africa, and also, a variety of various DNA studies on modern human populations all suggest that common lineage from a small gene pool was derived in
Most people know of countries like Syria and the fact that they are war-torn. However countries like the Central African Republic, although people may have never heard of them, there have, in fact, been many horrifying events that have occurred in them. War-torn countries are countries that had undergone war and are awfully poor with very little resources. Providing healthcare in these countries will give these people more opportunities to survive and live their lives which have been ruined because of terrifying wars. According to SOS-USA.org, “Central African Republic remains one of the poorest countries in Africa. Tens of thousands of vulnerable children are without access to basic services.” We can work towards solving this problem by donating
Project Tanzania strikes a big spark in me to go out and help people not only in my community, but in other communities as well. One of my favorite things to do is help others no matter how big or small the project may be. It makes me feel a sense of pride knowing that I was able to make a difference for someone, even if it was simply holding the door for them. I also love to travel and want to travel to as many places as I possibly can. I believe new places provide new experiences and more ways to grow as a person. Tanzania will allow me to fulfil both of these passions of mine. While on this trip I hope to gain more leadership experience and even more appreciation for the life I am privileged with. Knowing what others have to go through
If I had a ticket in my hand i would love to go to Africa. The reason why Ipick Africa is because in my life I’ve always had everything handed to me and I will admit that I've taken things for granted.Nothing would make me more happy than helping other kids like the ones in Africa and their family, they are in much need.I Believe i can make a difference in their life by lending a helping hand.
In recent times, the Central African Republic has had extreme issues regarding their government and development. These issues are causing the nation to enter devastating civil wars. In 1880, The CAR was annexed by France, and it remained a territory until gaining independence in 1960, despite being given representation in the French Parliament in 1946. The man elected to lead this young nation was David Dacko. Dacko first began to cause problems when he converted the country to a single political party. This party required citizens to register as members and pay dues to keep them in power. The party’s ideologies were likened less and less as their deficiencies in government began to appear. At the end of Dacko’s first term, his 1 party system
