I loved you from the moment I knew I was having you” these are words every mother tells you. The only people that can say that are the ones that aborted the fetus. What is an abortion? An abortion is a medical producer to terminate a pregnancy. Many focus on the women ending the life of a child but not many know the mental health of the women who had the abortion. Nobody really knows the really reason half of these women get abortions but they do go through a lot of mental health problems. Women who have had at least one abortion before or after having a child have suffered from anxiety and depression. The women whom is their first time having an abortion suffer less from depression and anxiety. These women suffer from trauma, the trauma comes from them having to give their babies life up. The producer they have to go to terminate a pregnancy is a very emotionally and physically painful. Most of the women who have had an abortion for the first time usually have trouble getting pregnant or the uterus not being strong enough to hold a child. One of our biggest pop star Nikki Manji spoke out about her having to abort a child that she wanted when she was fifteen and till this day she grief’s over this dead baby. These women suffer the most because they know what it’s like to go through a whole pregnancy and love the child the moment you find out it’s in you. The women who are mothers and have to go through the producer suffer the most because they get emotionally and physically attached to the baby the moment they find out that they are pregnant. A mother knows what its likes to hold something that you created in their arms and love the baby more than anything in the world. Depression is one of the biggest factor for these ladies because they know they will never get to love or see the child that they could have
I don’t know how to really start this because it’s really heartbroken. Imagine yourself giving your own baby an abortion. It’s really horrible. Some people do it for a reason but still why give abortion? It’s a gift God is giving you. On some religions is a sin for doing that, like God’s word says that he personally made each one of us, and has plan for each life: Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart” – Jeremiah 1:5 Also later on you’ll regret what you did.
More than fifty percent of women have regret after abortion. The majority of women who have abortions are depressed for years and years after the abortion. Studies show woman who have abortions are six to seven times more likely to commit suicide (Terzo). On many separate occasions women have reported having dreams about the child they aborted over and over and over again. Doctors at abortion clinics are misleading young scared pregnant woman and convincing them to have abortions. Some women are not warned about the emotional trauma that is in store from hem shortly following the termination of their child. Many women have shared that the doctors who performed their abortion ensured them this child was just a blob of tissue and it was no big deal that they were paying someone to murder their unborn
Abortion can cause periods of depression in which the pain can encysted. Some women become aggressive or nervous, or even hyperactive. Anxiety can find an answer food such as bulimia or, conversely, anorexia. For others, psychosomatic reactions will take over with stomach aches, absence of periods, headaches, the loss of self-esteem ("I'm bad, I'm unworthy, painful for others"), the fear of not being pregnant again or anxiety of existential insecurity are consequences commonly observed. Some episodes of a woman’s life can relive the acutely suffering felt at the time of abortion: the date in which the child had been born, or the anniversary date of the abortion, the desire to make present the dead child, are conducive to outbreaks of suffering intensely lived as, for example, anxiety or depressive
Thesis: I believe having an abortion is morally permissible for any reason during the first trimester as the body and organs are still in formation and anytime following the first trimester if the mother and (if possible) father both exhibit virtuous characteristics in their decision rather than vices. Virtuous traits being responsible, patience, self-confidence, courage, honesty, justice, open-mindedness rather than being selfish, cruel, lack of seriousness, vanity, indecisiveness, lack of empathy, arbitrary.
This paper reviews recent studies on the long lasting effect pregnancy loss has on it's families. Research has shown that families have increased risks of developing mental health disorders and strains on previous relationships. As research continues to develop we see that pregnancy and infant loss is taking a social economically toll on the families surviving this tragedy.
Various studies have been conducted to show the psychological effects following an abortion. According to the results some women experience depression and anxiety. These psychological effects reflect on several factors. Abortion may relieve stress by ending an unwanted pregnancy, but the event itself may simultaneously be experienced as a stressor causing anxiety grief, guilt, despair and anger. These factors could lead to depression, as feelings of powerless, anger and self-condemnation are emotions that underlie depression. Controversies exist whether abortion is linked with mental health or not. Future research requires a better understanding of the conditions that lead to unwanted pregnancy and abortion with the ultimate goal of improving women’s lives and well being.
According to research women who have had an abortion were 37% more likely to experience depression, 110% more likely to abuse alcohol, 155% more likely to commit suicide and 220% more likely to abuse marijuana (Jaslow). Women who go through the experience of terminating a pregnancy often face some form of decline in their mental health. It is understandable after going through something that is so permanent and potentially traumatic to react in such a way that negatively affects a person’s state of mind. Whether the termination is involuntary or by choice, it will likely lead to a change in the mental state of the person involved. In the poem “The Mother” the author, Gwendolyn Brooks, shows what a mother who has
As science advances, it is becoming very common for parents from all over the world to select their babies gender by abortion. However, this trend is unacceptable and detrimental to the natural balance of things, society and the future of humanity.
The act of getting an abortion cannot just be rinsed off; these post-abortion dangers can haunt the woman in a variety of ways. The mental health of the women who get an abortion can be drastically damaged by the events. Abortion is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy. The United States Supreme Court legalized abortion in 1973: currently there are about 1.2 million abortions that are being performed each year in the United States (Trupin). Around the world there are 20 to 30 million legal abortions that are being performed and 10 to 20 million illegal abortions that are performed. Trupin states, “Abortion is one of the most visible, controversial, and legally active areas in the field of medicine.” Back when abortion was illegal there were many deaths that occurred due to illegal abortions. Abortion can emotionally affect each woman differently. Some may be fine afterwards but some may
Despite certain pro-abortion group beliefs, evidence found in personal testimonies and psychological research proves that post-abortive women suffer from the mental health effects of abortion such as Post Abortion Syndrome, regret, and depression. Research has been conducted which combats pro-abortion movements regarding the truth behind Post Abortion Syndrome. Women tell their own stories, which reveal the immense amounts of regret that they experienced. Moreover, these testimonies reveal God’s mercy in abortion and child loss
