I do believe that any obstacle or disadvantage can turn into something good. I know this because people learn from their mistakes. Some people give up or lose hope when they are encountering an obstacle. Anything can be make up by thinking or a wise decision. African Americans in the 1950s were racially discriminated and had to go through many obstacles, but this didn’t stop a person. For example, Rosa Parks needed to give up her seat for a white passenger, and she had to sit in the back of the bus or stand up. She refused to give up her seat. Consequently, she had no right to say NO, and caused her to get arrested. Little did she know that she had made an effect on African Americans. Black people had a right to do whatever they wanted just like the white, and it was made into huge deal. Rosa had to overcome an obstacle that turned out to be really positive. As a result, thanks to her all African americans were protected and had the same rights as any human being. …show more content…

For example, Jeannette’s parents never had a stable home, and had to sleep in their car or motels. This never stopped Jeannette or her siblings to have a future. The oldest sister, Lori, managed to move out because it wasn’t stable for her. Lori wanted Jeannette move in with her because she wanted her to be safe and get her education. She moved to New York. Consequently, their parents didn’t agree to this because they were young and needed to be with an adult at all time. Which was an disadvantage for them and the effect of it was that they didn't care about what their parent's opinion was.
