Overpopulation The convoluted problems concerning overpopulation remain to be a highly discussed issue in various countries throughout the world. Some issues that are in support of overpopulation include the opportunity to place innovative ideas into action, aids in stimulating the economy, creates job openings in new growing industries, increased human resources, encourages competition, advancement in urbanization and development, creates a demand for industries like farming, and allows for cheaper and more readily available products to be produced. According to an article on Chron, “More homes must be constructed, more food produced, more clothing manufactured. Even during periods of population growth, new technology may reduce the number of employees needed in one industry, while the needs of the people create new jobs in another.” By providing job opportunities in different industries, citizens in overpopulated areas have the chance to explore new careers and would be playing an important role in supporting local businesses. Some values that are in support of overpopulation include quality of life, competition, and the right to live.
Some issues that are not in support of overpopulation include rising poverty rates, scarcity of resources, less land and space to utilize, limit the number of job opportunities in high paying careers, high cost of living, difficult to govern citizens, deforestation and habitat loss, rising crime rates due to lack of jobs, degradation of the
the population is said to reach 9 billion by 2050. The overpopulation of humans is causing destructive impacts on the environment and a high demand for resources. One destructive impact would be climate change because of the exceeding rate of humans, causing pollution in the air. While the Earth is having a tough time sustaining particular resources, the high demand causes the earth to force to get its nonrenewable resources. Overpopulation can lead to dangerous impacts of pollution, depleted resources, habitat loss, etc. Overpopulation is a controversial topic. While there are those who are not paying attention to its effects, the world is displaying its resources will soon disappear due to the depletion of nonrenewable resources such as water, oil, and soil. Addressing the problems and concerns of overpopulation now, can help save the lives of individuals in the future, LITERALLY!
Over population is an extremely serious problem facing the world today. According to an article from Newsweek in Oct. 2009 called “Where do babies come from?”, today’s world population has reached over 6.6 billion people. Also the article mentioned that in 2009 57.4% of all new born babies who were born this year came from Asia alone. This is an issue because over population can lead to hasty consumption of resources. China who has one of the largest population in the world with over 1.3 billion people, has taken a stance against over population.
The cause of human overpopulation is birth rates. The high amounts of birth rates are causing overpopulation to grow each year. Research shows in the year 2030, the population is expected to reach 8.5 billion people and 9.7 billion people in the year 2050. Developing countries is straining the already scarce resources. Intensive agriculture practices damage the environment through the use of chemical fertilizer, pesticides, and insecticides. As the population expands further, many natural resources such as fossil fuels, water, and forests continue to plummet. Lessening population will definitely solve many problems such as poverty, species becoming extinct, food shortages, water and air pollution, and even lower crime rate. High birth rates can be solved by spreading awareness, educate people about overpopulation, and increasing accessibility to birth control.
Over population is an issue that plagues people all over the world. American’s specifically are headed towards a population of over 400 people by 2050. High population numbers like these can lead to an abundance of environmental issues. One of these issues specifically is air pollution. Air pollution is primarily the cause of industrialization and releasing toxic fumes into the atmosphere. This causes the ozone levels to rise to unhealthy conditions. If countries like the U.S don’t become active in preventing these environmental issues, overpopulation would just continue to increase them. This would affect American citizens because environmental issues, like air pollution, caused by over population will have a negative effect on the quality of life and the ability to breathe clean air.
Overpopulation is an issue that many persons fail to bring attention, but don’t know the underlying effects that it can have on the United States itself. The hardships of overpopulation, affects the economy, the available of resources, and also the success of the future generations to come. Without much thought, someone may have children not knowing that it can affect the livelihood of the future generations who plan to land that job or that position they were aspiring to get. There are those individuals that continue having children, knowing that they are not financially capable of supporting another innocent child. In result this negatively affects the quality of living. If there are more births, it foreshadows that there are more jobs to be created, which causes employment hard to acquire, nevertheless, causing the economy to make a turn for the
Throughout the last few hundred years, humans have built a foundation. Compared to all of the other animal species on Earth, humans are the most intelligent. We have built houses everywhere, developed a system to sustain ourselves, and now inhabit almost every piece of land on earth. Humans are smart, strong, and know how to fend for themselves. But, humans have a tendency to take it too far, and we have already done so. There have been numerous advancements over the past few hundred years which could ultimately lead to the downfall of the human race. The main issue is overpopulation due to the advancements in technology and general knowledge. The statistics from an article by Kenneth Smail show that “In the year 1900, there were almost 2 billion humans living on Earth. Throughout the 1960’s, the baby boom, there were 3 billion humans on Earth. Today in 2016, there are just over 7 billion humans living on Earth.” Currently, we have taken up just over half of all available land on this planet, and with increased amounts of people having kids, our population will only increase. Overpopulation is becoming a serious problem all around the world, especially in countries such as China and India. There are many global problems associated with overpopulation that are becoming more and more prevalent, which will all have dangerous effects on the foundation that humans have
“When we have peace, then we have a chance to save the planet. But if we are not united in peace, if we do not practice mindful consumption, we cannot save our planet.”(Thich Nhat Hanh) We as the human race have entered a new age of the Earth: the Anthropocene, a term that became popular in the early 2000s. It means “ Man New”, because of the new world we have created and the amount of extinctions, pollution and alterations in the world’s functions that has come from our expansion. Due to the large amount of waste a small portion of the world produces, it affects the whole world in terrifying ways. People that argue that overpopulation is the largest issue have to understand that it is not the majority of the world that creates so much waste
In the world today we have became to known of the upcoming problem;its not only been a problem in the U.S but other counties as well. Today’s population consist of 7,362,302,944 people world wide.Although, growing in population is consistently is a bad thing but it can be a good thing.
One of the main problems the world may face today is overpopulation. Scientists and people in the society discovered this problem as each year went by. This leads to a huge environmental failure and harm to the society. There are different types of ways overpopulation can be solved and not cause a huge problem to the world. Especially if people in the society corporate with each other, they can fix this terrible problem.
The Worlds population was once of seven billion just fifteen years ago but now? Now after a paralysing epidemic that leads to an almost certain imminent death the numbers are just under borderline of two point five billion. It's hard to keep exact count, the population grows and decreases daily, new births of unfortunate babies being brought into this corrupted World, deaths of old beggars, starving children. The numbers change daily. You lose people, you gain people, it's been that way even before the epidemic struck. People die, people leave yet there's nothing you can do about it and in this measly, broken world we've all lost someone, whether it be parents, brothers and sisters or your Great Aunt Margret who lived down the street with her
The world is experiencing a dramatic problem in overcrowding. In this revolutionary world many problems are burning day by day because of the rapidly increases in the population. Every country facing the problem of overpopulation.
Another problem, due the overpopulation, many people in India go to sleep on the roads with an empty stomach. It happened because these people can’t afford the food and land prices, which caused by the overpopulation. For example, take a glance at Paul R. Ehrlich reading, “The population Bomb” where he argued that a growing number of population placed escalating strains on all aspects of the natural world. “If population growth
One major effect of overpopulation, on the economy, is that because there are so many people. Resource scarcity will be much more common, and already, resources are steadily depleting. One example of this would be water. Already, less than one percent of the water on the planet is drinkable freshwater, and due to this, we must be much more careful in our usage of it. The average cost of living around the world has gone up, because our supply of most resources has been steadily decreasing, while the demand for them has been rapidly increasing, due to the high population growth rate, which means that medical costs, food costs, and prices of housing are all going up. Due to the fact that our oil supply globally has
There are many issues today that pose a threat to our way of life. Overpopulation is a serious problem that will eventually have an extremely negative effect on our countries, and our planet. The problems that arise due to overpopulation could even prove to a fatal epidemic that will eventually wipeout the entire human race. Oftentimes this issue is overlooked due to lack of knowledge and understanding of the subject; or, simply because most of us are so blessed that we are not affected first hand by the problems it is causing this very second. Overpopulation, in my belief, is an enormously serious global issue that should be identified, analyzed, and controlled immediately.
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how overpopulation causes social problems. To do so you must take many things into consideration, such as different views of racial problems and conflicting definitions of a social problem. Social problems can be defined in many different ways. They effect everyone and some of us encounter problems everyday as a result of our race, religion, gender, or low income. Others experience problems from technological change or declining neighborhoods, others are affected directly by crime and violence in their own neighborhood, and sometimes definitions of social problems are changed by society because of changes around you. Finally in
