The way one’s work of life is taken in by perspective can vary in many different ways. Modern art is different from romantic or realistic art by the work’s complex, interpretation, and overall impact on the viewer’s thought process. There are many ways why modern art was a rejection of traditional art work, romantic, and even realistic art work. An artwork in the modern era was complex because of the compositions of the artwork shown. Picasso was trying to show the viewers what the Nazi’s did to Guernica in a modern way but if a person glances at the piece of work they see a jumbled mess of different images. This is when the viewer needs to take a step back and try to understand what Picasso is conveying through the artwork. Unlike what a romantic artist would portray in a more straight forward motion to get the point across like E. Lutz’s Washington Crossing the Delaware. This artist and many more modern artist use shapes, shades, colors, focal points, depth perception, and many more techniques to capture a moment or thing in the world. …show more content…
One person may see that Picasso is just putting different images that are broken and distorted in one piece of creativity but another person may notice that looking at the piece of work Guernica was a place that got bombed unexpectedly by the Nazis, and here in different spectrums is Picasso’s vision of what the bombing resulted in. Also if someone looked at John S. Sargent’s Gassed the interpretation is shown more in a depressing way because of the images of men blindfolded and injured by what someone can assume was a war by looking at the uniforms. Then the interpretation of E. Lutz’s Washington Crossing the Delaware artwork can be understood quicker because the viewer can look at the piece of work then at the work’s title and understand some of what E. Lutz is trying to convey in the
Painting, sculpting, graphite and ink are some ways of art that I love. Pablo Picasso knew how to do all of that very well and inspired others everywhere. He became my role model; I look up to him and his work. Picasso wasn't just an artist; he devoted his life into making art for others to enjoy. His art showed his emotions, thoughts and his life. Art ran down in his family too; he got inspired by his father. Pablo Picasso inspired many artists, and he inspired me because of his devotion to his phenomenal art.
Born in Malaga, Spain, 1881, Pablo Picasso was one of the greatest and interesting artists of the 20th century. He was a painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist, and stage designer, Picasso was considered very radical with his work. He was the co-founder of “Cubism.”
Picasso plays with shadows and contrast to not only give the painting depth, but also as a form of symbolism between the darkness and gloom of the massacre and the light peaking through cracks which represents hope that is unattainable. The contrast also adds emphasis on areas of focus such as with the bull at the far left and the floating head. Lines are also used for this purpose, as they direct the viewers eye primarily to the horse near the center of the painting.
I am researching the very highly known Pablo Picasso. He is well known for his paintings. He painted, sculpted, and did many other things. He is known as one of the greatest artists ever. In this essay I will be talking about Pablo Picasso’s life when he was younger, his career as an artist, and my opinion on his works and style of painting.

Salvador Domingo Felipe Jacinto Dalí i Domènech or Salvador Dali was born on May 11, 1904 in the town of Figueres. His Father was very strict although his mom was not, she actually endorsed his artistic drive and skills, unlike most families of artists. Throughout Dali’s life, him and his dad struggled with their relationship. His father used to beat him, and as he got older, he became more and more angry at his father. When he was five, his parents brought him to his brothers grave. When he was there, this is what he said,"we resembled each other like two drops of water, but we had different reflections."His parents said that he was the reincarnation of his brother and because most
Art is a human activity, the product of this activity or the idea that we are in fact deliberately targeting sense, emotions and intellect. Art and writing are different forms of expression but they both can convey the same intensity for the creator. Art can be used to express thoughts, emotions and feelings whereas writing is a form of expressing ideas and opinions. Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway are those two names, which they don’t need to identification. They are well-known personality from lifetime works on their own respected fields. Pablo Picasso and Hemingway are most well-known in the 20th century and still popular in art and literature. Both artists created valuable paintings, stories
Picasso’s Guernica will be perceived as “violent, dynamic, vital, disturbing” (Walton 1970, 347). But perceived as belonging to the category of “guernicas”—where guernicas are works with “surfaces with the colors and shapes of Picasso’s Guernica, but the surfaces are molded to protrude from the wall like relief maps of different kinds of terrain”. Picasso’s Guernica will be perceived not as violent and dynamic, but as “cold, stark, lifeless, or serene and restful, or perhaps bland, dull, boring”. (Walton 1970, 347). That Picasso’s Guernica can be perceived both as violent and dynamic and as not violent and not dynamic might be thought to imply that there is no fact of the matter whether it is violent and dynamic. But this implication holds
Pablo Ruiz Y Picasso was the most famous artist of the 20th century. He was born on October 25, 1881 in Malaga, Spain. Picasso showed great talent at an early age. He loved to paint pictures of city life and was fascinated by the circus. He also enjoyed painting pictures of the day-to-day life of poor people in his neighbourhood and was also very poor himself. His father, Jose Ruiz Blasco, was a Castilian art teacher in Malaga and his mother, Maria Picasso, was an Andalusian of Majorcan origin. The medium of this piece is oils on canvas. The message of this masterpiece was simply to address the people of the massacre of innocent civilians and animals. Hitler's german air forces dropped approximately 100,000 pounds of explosives on top of a defenseless village in northern spain called Guernica, and it destroyed about 70 percent of the village and killed or injured about 1,600 civilians. Not only that these bombs destroyed structures, but they were incendiary bombs, which meant after they would explode they would set things on fire, eventually turned everything into rubble. When news got to Paris, Picasso heard about it and was terrified from the reports of the devastation and deaths that occurred in that scaring event. So as a tribute, Picasso made a art piece about the massacre of Guernica. That’s what so specials about this painting, it a was a sign of sympathy for an unfortunate event. This painting shows the varieties of ways how the people and animals die. There are a lot of different events going on in the art piece that he made. For example, on the left side of the picture, there is a women holding a dead child in her arms, and on the right side of the picture is the head and partial body of a large white bull. It's basically the most peaceful part of the painting. The struggle and depth within the piece represents the endless amount of wars and turmoil that captured european history up until that point and symbolizes how picasso wishes to have peace at
Well-known artist Pablo Picasso creates a portrait of Dora Maar. This portrait appears to be a mug shot. The structure, placement, and organization all appear to be carefully considered thus producing a respectful portrait. Picasso fills the landscape by centering and enlarging the head of Dora Maar leaving minimal space unoccupied. A sequential pattern can be detected upon observing Maar’s pearls and shirt. Picasso draws attention and focuses on facial features through color selection and shadowing. The primary colors (red, yellow, and blue) are predominantly used while the secondary colors (green, purple, and orange) are used to shade and accent different facial features around the eyes, mouth, nose, ears, and hair in order to create detail.

Art is a form of symbolic expression in which artists are free to express their imaginations in different visual styles. Artists create pieces that reflect upon the artist’s lifetime or themselves directly. Every creation has a purpose which gives specific meaning and importance to each composition; however, art changes over time, and so does its purpose. Depending on their mood, religious beliefs, political stances, and social messages can be the purpose behind a particular creation. In response the Spanish Civil War, Pablo Picasso created a piece known as “Guernica” which reflected upon the fascist dictator’s, Francisco Franco, cruelty and hostility towards his civilians. He used a cubism design and dark colors to express the emotions of
