The term "colonia," in Spanish means a community or neighborhood. In Texas the Office of the Secretary of State defines a "colonia" as a residential area along the Texas-Mexico border that may not have some or most of the basic living necessities. When searching for the various breeds of cattle for the 2016 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, I came crossed a couple different breeds from Herefords, and main Anjou, but then I came crossed the Charolais. During my researching and talking to my FFA advisor I found out that the Charolis can be an easy to handle and they adapt to a new environment pretty quick. I have not had the fortune to travel to many places, but did not really need to in order to write about one of my favorite places. Although Vizcaya was constructed in what would be considered modern times, Vizcaya’s Gardens were inspired and designed in a European Renaissance style.
