There are two basic ways to treat depression which are Psychotherapy and Medication. Certain types of psychotherapy can help relieve depression, particularly Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or CBT and Interpersonal Therapy or IPT. CBT helps change negative thinking and behavioral styles. IPT is used to work through disturbed personal relationships. One of the more common ways to treat depression is medication. Newer medications, SSRIs, have fewer side effects. But the most effective way to treat moderate-to-severe depression is a combination of both therapy and antidepressants. All in all, Depression can be treated differently depending on the person being treated.
