A young girl has had it hard. She lives in Afghanistan and that makes her life terrible, though she has a hard life, she perseveres to get through it. The word perseverance means steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. The Breadwinner book by Deborah Ellis is about a girl named Parvana that lives in Afghanistan and perseveres through the Taliban’s rule.The author’s portrayal in “The Breadwinner” book states that Parvana perseveres through the Taliban. The first example of Parvana being perseverance is on page 63 were Parvana had too cut her hair and become a boy. On page 63 her mother states, “I’ll cut it.” This proves that Parvana actually cut her hair to be a boy.This proves Parvana turned into a boy because her mom cut her hair for it to be short this demonstrates perseverance because she did not give up making money because she was a girl she turned into a boy to …show more content…

The text states, “I’m here for my father!” This proves that Parvana shows perseverance by going to the prison. She is a girl and girls are not allowed to be outside without a male family member which she did not have. In addition, on page 53 Parvana goes to the market without a shador to get bread even though she was a girl. On page 53 it states “Women were not allowed to go into the shops. Men were supposed to do all the shopping.” This proves that parvana was not allowed to get the shopping done because mean were the only ones allowed to do the shopping this proves an example of Parvana persevering because even though she could not go out without a man she did anyway. Lastly, she waited for her father. The text states, “What about Father? What will happen if he gets out of prison and we’re not here? He won’t know where to look for us!” This proves that Parvana will not give up. This shows perseverance because she gave up Mazar for her father and she will keep on waiting for her
