Structure was conceived Gloria Theresa Thompson on December 6, 1944, in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her dad was a worker, while her mom Jimmie acted as a servant. Her mom had just the barest of a formal training, however cherished the verse of Paul Laurence Dunbar. Structure developed as an extraordinary understudy and essayist at Booker T. Washington High School, where educators empowered her aspirations. She majored in English at Baton Rouge's Southern University and graduated summa cum laude in 1966. Frame went ahead to win both an expert's and a doctorate in her field from Purdue University. She started her scholarly vocation at the University of Delaware, in 1971, and rose through the scholastic positions to a full residency by 1986. She was
A private sector is usually composed of organisations which are privately owned and not part of a government; whereas a public sector is composed of organisations that are owned by the government and voluntary sectors are composed of individuals of who seek help in charitable activities. This following will outline my personal leadership practices and potential future leadership. To analyze my leadership qualities I will use the Seven Habits Profile and a leadership theory to determine my strengths, weaknesses, and areas of opportunity for improvement. In conclusion, I will determine the best recommendations for long-term improvement as well as SMART goals, or short-term courses of action, for leadership improvement.
There are many ways to define leadership, but perhaps the most laconic as well as accurate definition is presented in Peter G. Northouse's Leadership: Theory and Practice book (Northouse, 2013, p.5): "Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal". Individuals, engaged in leadership, use influence to solve challenges, which the groups under their leadership face, in order to succeed in their common goals.
What defines a good leadership? Is it the qualities that he exhibits, or the rather the polices that history remembers him by? The time period of American Civil War is a great time period to examine these questions, and can be done so by looking at the two main presidents of both the Union and the Confederacy: Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis. While the two were both skilled in some areas and unskilled in others in terms of leadership, history remembers Lincoln as the better leader due to his characteristics of intelligence in the political /military field as well as when it comes to personal rights.
Once, a pastor speaking at a conference showed us a picture of Jawaharlal Nehru and another of Mahatma Gandhi. He then asked the crowd to identify these pictures; I was able to recognize Gandhi but I couldn’t identify the Prime Minister of India in that time period. A similar demonstration implementing Martin Luther King Jr. and Lyndon B. Johnson elicited similar responses: no one could identify the person in office but could recognize the true leader. Through this demonstration, I learned that leaders do not have to be facilitated by a position, instead positions should be granted to those who deserve it: the people who care for others, do the right thing, and set good examples.
Prior to the 20th Century, the idea of equal rights or even something similar to equal rights was just a distant thought of a few. The drive towards equal rights was a seed waiting to be planted and once it was, the seed sprouted and became strongly rooted. We of the 21st Century are benefiting from a society established on these roots. A societal change was a result of the sacrifices of past leaders, namely a woman by the name of Alice Paul. Alice Paul was an amazing leader, possessing qualities that all aspiring leaders should try to emulate. By investigating the leadership styles Alice Paul incorporated, we can determine how she was able to influence the movement, the results of her contributions and how the leadership styles are able
Don Lee Camp and Retreat Center sits near the mouth of the Neuse River 5 miles away from the small town of Arapahoe, NC. Along with offering the normal camp activities like swimming and arts and crafts, Camp Don Lee specializes in teaching young people sailing and boating skills capitalizing upon its proximity to the Neuse River and the Atlantic Ocean. In this analysis, I argue that Camp Don Lee’s structure has elements of an adhocracy and a professional bureaucracy due to the nature of the clientele and the nature of the employee job responsibilities. I will assess Camp Don Lee as an organization through the lenses of structure and human resources. Research, my own experiences at Camp Don Lee, and an interview with the Spiritual Formation and Retreat Coordinator, Laura Goldenbaum-Yang provide the basis for analysis.
Through their successes, both King and Jones left lasting impacts in each of their movements. Credited as one of the organization’s most successful leaders, Bob Jones helped the civil rights era Klan in the south gain momentum after having remained stagnant since the 1920’s (Pacatte, 2015). In only a few years time, Jones was able to grow the North Carolina Klan to 10,000 members, gaining the trust of mostly low income people and influencing them to join the movement (Pacatte, 2015). Similarly to Martin Luther King, Jones used his leadership to guide his followers in a nonviolent direction (Cheshire, 2015). While Jones’s leadership largely affected the social aspects of his group, as a civil rights leader, King was successful in inspiring people to join the cause, and in leading his followers in protests and boycotts that helped them achieve their goal of legal reforms (Anderson, 2016).
Raymond Carver the author of “Cathedral” the narrator in this story has some prejudices, against blind people as well as so discomfort and jealousy towards Robert who is his wife long friend and confidence. In spite of how the narrator feel about Robert he does exactly what his wife asked him to do, helps to make Robert feel comfortable. This is where the reader can see the narrator had integrity. He puts his own person feeling behind him and does everything he can for Robert. For example, making sure Robert understands what's on television. We see leadership and integrity in Robert as well, Robert isn’t just a blind man, he is a man that has seen the world and a person who works with what he was giving and makes the best of his life that he

The aims of organisations depend on the type of business they are. For example, the aims of a charity organisation will be quite different from those of a for-profit global business. A business needs to have a clear sense of direction, which must be clearly communicated to all stakeholders. This is the aim of the business which can then be broken down into smaller aims and objectives.
Discovering my style has been an interesting journey into my inner self. I had taken both the Jung Typology and the DiSC tests to truly understand what makes me tick as a leader. I did feel that the DiSC was more involved and had more information as compared to the Jung test but this could have been the difference in style of tests as one seemed as a quick overview and the other more involved. Since I felt that I had more information with the DiSC test I chose that to write about. After the lengthy questionnaire process I found out that I am an SC style with my dot closer to the center. This means that I have a natural desire to be seen as steady and reliable. That I value harmony and accuracy and I do my best to support those around me. I also strive to create a stable environment. I can see that this test is accurate in how I lead and
Manager’s of an organization has to use structure to help the company run efficiently. “The five types of organizational structures are functional, divisional, matrix, team-based, and virtual network” (Draft, 2013, p.316). Functional structure in an organization that is developed by grouping departments by the skills, level of knowledge, activities done daily, and the resource used. “This structure places specific departments from the bottom to the top” (Draft, 2013, p.318). For example, specific departments such as: human resources, accounting, engineering, and manufacturing are placed at the top, while there are mostly seen at the bottom in other organizations. While common functions such as; people, facilities, and other resources are combined together as a single department instead of being divided into multiple departments.
In the early 1980s, Henry Mintzberg’s, constructed the organizational archetypes. In this model Mintzbeg introduces five types of organization structure and how they influence the functions of organizations. On the organizational model there are five categories which are: Entrepreneurial, Machine (Bureaucracy), Professional bureaucracy, The Divisional (Diversified), and Adhocracy. Entrepreneurial organization consists of one large unit with one or a few top managers. The organization is relatively unstructured and informal compared with other types of organization, and the lack of standardized systems allows the organization to be flexible.
