During her college career, she struggled in the beginning because the course work was very hands on. It was a different experience for her because she mainly focused on digital. Once she found her niche by combining both manual work and digital, it became easier for her. Straight at of college, she got offer a job at Apple. Even though she would have security financially, she felt that she wouldn’t be challenged enough. Kalea from k_bossnails, who is not only a celebrity nail stylist but an instructor, changed my way of thinking. Since I followed her on Instagram and snapchat I’ve been inspired and it motivated me to start my own career. It’s amazing how much expression can be put into a full set of nails. Nails have become a part of a female’s wardrobe. Everywhere I go someone compliments my nails and my nail “selfies” always receive a lot of likes. I’m on social media every day and I keep up with the latest trends. It’s only right that I join the beauty industry.
In her article “College Is a Waste of Time and Money”, Caroline Bird attempts to pursued her readers that colleges are overflowing with students who don’t belong there. Her article first appeared in Psychology Today (May 1975). Since this material is outdated, I find it hard to believe that most of the responses by students and parents quoted in the article still hold true. The author has set out to pursue the readers that college is a bad and unnecessary choice for today’s youth. Yet the author holds a bachelors and a masters degree from two different universities. I would think that if she thought college was really a bad choice and a waste of time and money, she would not have gone back to get her masters degree.
Mary Ann also stressed that you need to create the person you want to be. One of the ways you can do this is to figure out the gap of where you are, and where you want to be. Mary Ann didn’t just become the Director of Guest Experience at MGM, she worked 19 years in the industry to do so, and in that time got experience in various other fields so she’s able to do the job that she has now. She filled the gap between where she was and where she wanted with those experiences and accomplished her long-term goal. In addition to that, Mary Ann said that we have to organize ourselves. Mary Ann claims that the problem she has the most when hiring youthful people is that they have no organization. Those young people that are hired are known to miss out on deadlines and always coming up with excuses. Instead of victimizing ourselves, we should be more organized. Finally, Mary Ann also claimed that if there’s something that we want, we need to get

I have been Anna Yamauchi’s best friend for about ten years. I sincerely believe that Anna is an ideal candidate for this years Stacy Cook Scholarship. I live in Chicago, IL which is Anna’s previous hometown. I knew that her love for the sport of skiing from the moment I first met her was so prominent, that nothing could get in the way of it. I recall weeknights, and weekends where she would drive hours to go to Wisconsin just to be able to participate on a small ski team. Her compassion for the sport is undeniable. After years of participating on this ski team in Wisconsin, Anna and her family packed up their bags and left for Truckee, California. Anna was willing to leave her friends, school and everything she knew to move across the

When it comes to hiring and promotion, recognition and achievements are the key! According to the BLS, the job outlook is 10%, which is faster than average. Although M.T. said that being an event/meeting planner is a relatively new (and underrated in my opinion) job, the job outlook is strong. In class, she recounted on how she was able to find a job with an annual salary of $24,000 when she was just 21. I mean, that was way in the past, but still, that’s probably a lot of money back then! Because of her many achievements and ambitions, M.T. has gotten many promotions. For example, M.T. told me, in the interview, that she started to get really “involved in industry organizations” during her first job, which is pretty grand. She started to expand her network in order to promote herself.
Iliana Roman’s article, “First Job”, illustrates the idea that jobs open up paths to learn and that one needs to always continue to learn in his/her life is very true. There are three statements in Roman’s article that are found to be true. She says if you are determined no one will stop you, friends and businesses do not mix, and all previous experiences help in everything you do. Roman’s article contains many factual statements and as a whole her paper is very true.
