Pentecost Outbreak
Yesterday around nine in the morning the disciples and some Christians gathered together to thank God. As they were sitting down they heard the sound of what they thought was strong wind coming in from heaven. Suddenly a big gust of wind came in and filled the whole room. Next they interpreted that they saw tongues of fire separate and come towards them. Witnesses elucidated that they saw the flames rest on their heads. They were then permeated with the Holy Spirit and started speaking in different languages. “It then became really noisy” said a witness. Because it was really loud this attracted a crowd. People saw them speaking in different languages and thought that they may of had had too much to drink. Peter heard the
An investigation was necessary to find the cause of the outbreak, and how to stop it from continuing to spread. The campus clinic was interested in testing the following nine patients: Sue, Jill, Anthony, Wanda, Maggie, Maria, Arnie, Marco, and Alvin. All of the students have similar symptoms and agreed to being tested except for Alvin.
The witness is not just the power to preach the gospel; the first result of the coming of the Holy Spirit is the ability to speak in other tongues.
The first step to identifying the unknown bacteria residing on the blood agar plate sent in from Khokana was to do a Gram stain on it. This is an important first step because it dictates further testing that will be necessary to arrive at a final conclusive result. Viewing the fixed and stained slide under the microscope revealed round chains of bacteria in a purple color signaling Gram-positive streptococci. A catalase test was performed with no bubbling present indicating a negative result. This further confirmed the shape and arrangement seen under microscopy. With this mind, the coagulase test was not done, as it would be of no use since that specifies for staphylococcus, specifically for Staphylococcus aureus. For streptococcus, an examination of hemolysis was necessary at this point. Shifting attention back to the original blood agar plate, gamma hemolysis was noted, thus narrowing the field down to two choices left. The unknown bacteria was either Streptococcus bovis or Entercoccus faecalis. This also means the Optochin and Bacitracin sensitivity tests would not be needed as those pinpoint alpha- and
There is a great multitude of nephites gathered in the land of bountiful conversing about jesus christ. Then some people start to hear a soft voice and they pay no attention to the voice. Then the voice spoke again and again the people did not understand it. Then the voice call out a third time and they listened and the voice said “ This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased and they looked into heaven and saw a man in white come down. The man was jesus and he tells about how he suffered for the sins of the world and invites the people to touch the nail prints and spear wound in his side. And they praised him as the most high god
I hope I did not disturb you by staying last night, if you were disturbed by awakening to me in your room I shall make sure to stay in my own from now on. ” He murmured, knowing he had to come back and tell her the reason why Castiel couldn’t come over, the reason why he was suddenly keeping his distance. His fingers burned, hotter and hotter as fire kissed spires were wedged under his nails and into his flesh. His once easily soothed Grace suddenly more volatile than it had ever been as it fought against the vessel’s confinement. A flare of pain tugged at the back of his neck and he bit his tongue to keep from saying anything, yet the row of candles that adorned the mantle said it all as their wicks caught fire. Each one reaching higher and higher until Gabriel turned around and clenched his fist, nails biting into his flesh, giving himself something else to focus on for the moment as the flames retreated to their normal, gentle mounds of
There are many things that could have contributed to all those kids and the chaperones getting sick. Things that could have caused the outbreak are the food handlers not following the correct procedures.Cooking the food enough and having the correct temperature are some of the procedures that the food handlers could have messed up to cause the outbreak.
The Black Plague which was also known as The Black Death, first originated in Asia and spread across to the shores of Italy during October 1346. It is believed that the Black Death arrived in Europe with trading ships that arrived at the Sicilian port of Messina. Most of the people on board these ships were already dead, with others terribly ill. Many sailors had black boils on their body that were full of pus and blood. By the time the sickness was discovered by the authorities it was already too late because the disease had started to spread rapidly all around Europe.
The year is 1849 and so far I have discovered several things about the cholera outbreak in London. My colleagues assume that the cause of cholera is caused by poison carried in the air that results from decaying matter (Fairbanks and Candelaria 10). However, I disagree with my colleagues in their belief of the miasma theory (Mckenzie 13). I have constructed a theory that the disease is spread by person-to-person contact and the material causing the cholera, must be in fact, swallowed and introduced into the alimentary canal (Fairbanks and Candelaria 10). My experience with the disease shows that not everyone who treats a sick person becomes sick, and others get sick even with the absence of a sick person in close proximity (Fairbanks and Candelaria 10). I have found that physicians who practice superior cleanliness do not get cholera. Cholera outbreak also seems to be worse among working class people, poor cleanliness seems to be what contributes to the spread of the disease (Fairbanks and Candelaria 10). The sanitary conditions of the city are not well by any means. The city is overcrowded, streets were unpaved, filthy, and heaped with trash and garbage (McKenzie 11). Most people get their drinking water from a water pump that is in close proximity to their house.
A common source outbreak is an outbreak that affects a number of people being exposed to a common pathogen agent or toxin. Back in early 1993 more than 400,000 people were affected with waterborne cryptosporidium infection in the greater Milwaukee area. This massive outbreak was transmitted through the public water supply, caused abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and fever which resulted in watery diarrhoea.
The Black Death or the Bubonic Plague “is a disease that has been the subject of literature for centuries and has played a role both in natural disasters and war.” . The first plague, the plague of Justinian, began in 542 and lasted until around 750 during the reign of Emperor Justinian. The plague is believed to have originated in Ethiopia or Egypt and was then carried to Constantinople, the capital of the Roman Empire at the time, in cargoes of grain. “The plague contributed to Justinian’s failure to restore imperial unity because of a reduction in resources, which in turn prevented Roman and Persian forces from offering more than token resistance to the Muslim armies that swarmed out of Arabia in 634.” It is estimated that around one million
“I saw an extremely strong, sparkling, fiery light coming from the open heavens. It pierced my brain, my heart and my breasts through and through like a flame which did not burn; however, it warmed me. It heated me up very much like the sun warns an object on which it is pouring out rays.”
In the distance an orange light shone. As I moved toward it, I heard a confusion of voices, people talking and laughing. The orange light flickered, and I heard crackling sounds. I could smell now¬-acrid smoke. I was at a fire.
One stormy night a man finds a cave in which he can rest. This man closes his eyes and dreams of a man named Christian. Christian is greatly distressed and carries with him a heavy burden on his back. Wanting to escape these burdens he carries on his back, Christian learns that the city he lives in will soon be destroyed by the fire from heaven. The author states through Christian, “...I have received information that the city in which we live will be burned with fire from Heaven.” (Bunyan, 19-20) Christian tries to convince his family of this, but they do not believe him, instead they laugh. That is when Christian meets a man named Evangelist, who points him in the direction of a narrow gate. He is told that when he reaches this gate he will
