People Change In The Folk Tale

Throughout time, everyone goes through changes, whether they’re big or small. Some people become a completely different person. In the story “Touching Spirit Bear” by Ben Mikaelsen, a boy named Cole changes his whole attitude towards others. Cole becomes a different person at the end of the story. Cole Matthews has a dramatic change of heart. Cole changes when he had to soak in the freezing pond, carry the ancestor rock and dance “the dance”. He also changes when he invites peter to the island, he also changes when peter accepts is apology later in the story. Everyone at sometime in their life will change.

Someone once said, “You can’t change people, either accept who they are or start living life without them.” This relates to the Westing Game by Ellen Raskin, because in the book, one of the main characters, Turtle, changed throughout the story. At the beginning of the story, she was rude, but at the end she was kind and trustworthy and this showed through her choices, actions, and dialogue. What I have learned is that change is possible if you try.

Some people never change their entire lives. That is one of the themes in the realistic fiction novel Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. In the book Freak, a child with morquio syndrome, and Max, the main character, become close friends and go through many struggles such as Max’s father, Freak getting sick, Blade, and many others. As two children’s friendship blossoms, you will come across many themes.In my opinion, as I read deeper into the book I found two main ones. I found that everything that matters in a person is invisible to the eye, and that some people never change. These themes are so important in life.

The key to change is acceptance. “St. Lucy’s Home for Girls Raised by Wolves” by Karen Russell follows the steps that need to occur to go through a cultural change from a wolf to a human society, and shares what happens if the transformation remains incomplete. This story shows that acceptance is the only way to complete a change because a person has to accept the change itself, others around them, and themselves. If this does not happen, then there will always be something from the person’s old life holding them back making it nearly impossible to move forward in their new life.

It is commonly said, as well as believed, that change is inevitable. It is bound to happen, whether we choose to believe in this concept or not. An excellent example of change, change of character specifically, would be Eliezer Wiesel in his book Night. He wrote about his time in concentration camps, and the traumatizing experiences he went through, some of which most people can’t even begin to imagine. His mentality changed and developed more and more as the book progressed, he has clearly changed from the once religious and faith-based boy, into an anguished and desolate man.

There are so many ways and reasons that people can change. You can change for love, passion, or to fit in. There are many more things that can change a person. I’m taking two stories and looking if the characters changed or stayed the same.

In all stories there is someone who changes after something happens and it turns them into someone they aren't. An example is a person turn into someone you never expected them to be because they are hiding themselves. Its also important to think before everything you do because the aftermath can be unreal. The characters in the“ Possibility of Evil” by Shirley Jackson and the short story,” Lamb to the Slaughter” by Roald Dahl could have learned their lessons. In the story, “ Possibility of Evil” Miss.Strangeworth takes her hate out to an family by writing letters to them. In “Lamb to the Slaughter” Mary makes a bad decision after finding out her husband is leaving her. These stories tell the reader that people around you have a side they don't show, but sooner or later it will come out of them.

Sometimes there are experiences that can completely change a person. A person comes in one way and comes out completely different, usually in their head. This happens a lot, even way back to the early 1600’s in the tragedy-based play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, where Macbeth develops and changes as a character over the course of the play in terms of his mentality. At the beginning of the play, Macbeth is motivated by the witches predictions, can not control his thoughts, and lets his emotions get in the way of what he wants. Towards the end of the play, Macbeth is motivated by his need to survive, can control his thoughts better and limits the effect emotions have on him. These are three key components that change

Over time, many have realized that people have the power to change others, however some believe that people cannot and will not change. One side of this argument is that though people will be the same their whole life, and never change. On the contrary, people have been changed by others over time and throughout history. It is a fact of life that people have the power to change others through their actions, perspectives, and ability to persuade their point of view.

A natural tendency is for characters to change and develop throughout a story as it progresses. A character can develop from A kind personality to a angry personality. For instance how Scrooge changes from greedy and cruel to selfless in A Christmas Carol. When Scrooge is put through a series of test to see what life is like outside of his shell, his demenur on life changes. ALthough characters can also change in a negative way. Scrooge's gradual change in attitude from selfishness to selfless conveys the theme, the populace has the power to change their ways no matter how distasteful their actions once were.

There are thousands of folktales and fairy tales that are firmly rooted in individual cultures, yet the tale of Cinderella has been told through many centuries and throughout the far corners of the world. With thousands of versions of this classic tale in print worldwide, the tale is believed to have originated with the story of Rhodopis, a Greek slave girl who is married to an Egyptian King. The story of Rhodopis, which means rosy-cheeks, dates back to 7 BC and is attributed to a Greek geographer named Strabo. The Chinese variation of this fairy tale is named Yeh-hsien. The Chinese version is traceable to the year 860 and appears in Miscellaneous Morsels from Youyang by Duan Chengshi. Yeh-hsien is a young girl, motherless and in the control of her stepmother, who befriends a treasured fish. The jealous step-mother kills the fish, but it’s bones provide Yeh-hsien with magical powers, eventually enabling Yeh-hsien to escape the control of her step-mother for a royal life. The Story of the Black Cow which is found within the pages of Folk Tales from the Himalayas by John Murray, published in 1906, the child who is mistreated by a stepmother is a male and the role of savior is portrayed by a snake, with a cow serving as the moral of the story, faithfulness. Through the many years the Grimm brothers were alive, an array of children's literature was produced. Actually, the correct term would be reproduced. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm were masters at reproducing and even changing early children's stories so that they had more meaning for the children of the time. More times than not, they censored out sexual meanings and added violence to children's stories that had already been told for centuries. Once upon a time, there was a literary genre commonly know as fairy tales. They were mystical and wonderful and a child’s fantasy. These fairy tales were drastically misunderstood throughout many centuries, however. They endured a hard life of constant changing and editing to fit what the people of that time wanted. People of our own time are responsible for some of the radical changes endured by this undeserved genre. Now, these fairy tales had a young friend named Belle. The black people coming to America entered as slaves, and they were suppressed by white slave holders. They were not permitted to speak their own native tongues. Achebe incorporates folktales and myths into Things Fall Apart to illustrate the Igbo culture, characters, and experiences. These folktales appear a myths and legends which typically explain natural events. Myths are used as tools for teaching their children the history and values of their ancestors. Many draw themselves from the earth, sky, and nature, which the African culture believes to be a central part of what it means to be human. For Okonkwo, folktales are instruments of wisdom which provide important values and morals in order to keep peace within his tribe and to sustain their customs and traditions.
