My father, now retired Naval Commander Dean Amsden, has shown me time and time again what my responsibility to America is. Through his actions and words he has shown me that as a citizen I need to be strong. I need to stand for my rights, work hard and diligently, I need to stand for the rights of others, and protect those that cannot protect themselves. I need to follow all of these so that I can be a functioning and productive member of society. For the same reasons he has also shown me that I need to be kind, compassionate, and understanding. The principles of life I need in order to be human. What I need to develop my own personal code of ethics. Throughout my life the American ideals have been embedded in my psyche. The ideals that, no matter the obstacle, no matter the cost, no matter the odds, we will prevail through grit and determination. That we …show more content…
Sometimes I knew who they were and thanked them for letting me as a citizen live the way I want to live through their sacrifice. Other times I never knew the hardships and struggles that they endured in order to give me the ability to stand here today. Still others were not yet veterans, those that have plans to enter the armed services and to serve their country proudly. Every veteran that I have passed has had a story that I gladly hear. For each is different but from every storyteller there are common threads. These threads are both in their words and in their eyes. Each veteran I have spoken to has shown great pride and surprise in their eyes. Pride from the recognition of their service, but also surprise for the exact same reason. When they speak I have seen these feelings appear and they have brought me a feeling of shame. I am ashamed at the fact that these emotions are not always present in their eyes for all to see. Shame that these brave men and women have been given so little that thanking them is not a routine gesture, but an extraordinary
As a nation, we need to be thankful for our veterans. The men and women who join the military undergo nine weeks, or more, of boot camp. That right there is said to be the most laborious nine weeks of anyone’s life. Drill sergeants break them down both emotionally and physically, so they can improve upon them and make them stronger. Those are the people we should be thanking, the ones who fight to preserve our country’s freedom, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are the fundamentals of our Constitution that those people fight to protect. However, after their service, it doesn’t seem like people know that.
As I grew up and shared the amazing fact that I was born in a different country, I was constantly asked if I was a U.S citizen. I would always answer yes and explain that my mother had my documents hidden in a bureau, but I didn't know why I was asked so frequently. I didn't pay any attention at first, but the urge to ask my parents grew stronger and stronger until one day at the age of twelve, I decided to ask my parents. That day, I received the news that would change my life forever. With tears in their eyes, I remember my parents telling me the dangerous events that they had to surpass in order to enter this country. I remember how they told me about the little girl that lost her life from dehydration as they crossed the desert and how

Anytime you see a Veteran or soldier in uniform, make sure you stop them and say Thank You. Not just on Veteran's Day, but everyday. Make it a habit because the sacrifice they have made for those of us who choose not to serve is unlike any other sacrifice. It is the least we can do for those who do so much for us.
The soldiers themselves need to be acknowledged as well. Every soldier was once just a citizen, not yet dressed in uniforms of red, white, and blue, beaming with the sunlight of trodden battlefields. These citizens were parts of families, loved greatly and deeply. Their departure from home was
What are the American ideals? Many people do not know what the American ideals, only to list a few. Yet, what Americans don’t realize is the American ideals expressed throughout history. But, Americans have lived through the ideas, knowingly or not, through liberty, opportunity and equality.
U.S citizenship has a meaning much deeper than just the legal permission to live in this country; it is challenging to achieve and defines a dream of safety, opportunity, and privilege.
As I grew up, I questioned almost everything that appeared before my eyes. At a young age, I tried to comprehend the changes that occurred in nature or in a human body. I wondered why one became ill or excited, slowly my fascination leaded to falling in love with Biology. I wish to help others using my Biology knowledge that I will obtain in college. I want to travel to other countries and aid those who are unable to get it as easily as individuals in first world countries like
What was the environment in which you were raised? Describe your family, home, neighborhood, or community and explained how it has shaped you as a person.
Growing up through the years, especially as a female adolescent, I am not confronted with what I believe my responsibility to America is. However, I do feel very inclined to help my country. I am a significant citizen that contains an important voice for our nation. However, I can only assist my home, if I decide to apply my voice for good. When I apply my voice, I am demonstrating the following: I want to help the nation prosper and I am committed citizen that supports my country. Numerous people do not expect this from me because I am very young and I am a girl. There’s a noticeable imbalance given to the importance of a woman's voice as opposed to a man. Even though this is evident, I still believe I am an integral part in my country and that it’s my

People in society have many choices in one part of their life. I had a choice to become part of the society which is a new destination. I came from a rural part of society to an Urban Destination. I came from the capital city called Dhaka. It is part of an Urban attire in which I had become familiar with the culture, traditions, and quality of religious being. I came a rural town where land is expanded onward and upward. The city is filled with bright colors and taste of sound and culture. I came to what which people call an “American Dream”. As I read a book from THE GREAT GATSBY By F.Scott Fitzgerald on the Plane. I love in which they call an American Dream.
It all started in October 1998 in the city of Laredo, Texas, where I lived my first couple of months of my life. When I turned 6 years old, I went to live in a city close to the border, Sabinas Hidalgo Nuevo Leon, Mexico. When I started my first year of school, my childhood was totally fun. In Mexico, I went up to sixth grade, everything was perfect until that day…
My journey began from Hlamphei to United States. I lived in Hlamphei for ten year and life is so difficult and hard because their is no job to get money. Their is no bathroom and fire to use for cooking also their is not renting house, the house where we lived was so dirty and there is no light. I never went to school because it cost too much to pay and we need uniform so instead of that I just help my parents. We planted crops but it is very hard to take care of because from my house it is so far and we need to walk long distance because we always need to pour water and get some of crop to cook. Also we have farm and I feel so sad for my parents because they use cows to farm and it was so muddy. We clean dishes and wash clothes at river because their is
Form N-400 is otherwise known as the application for US Naturalization. I have started and stopped filling out form N-400 half a dozen times in the past few years. Most recently, I used the excuse that I couldn’t read all of the dates in my passport. Thus I could not give the relevant dates for when I had left and reentered the country over the necessary time period. The other day I downloaded the form again but now I can’t find my passport.
