The gift of life is one of the most valuable and precious things that we have been given. When I take a step back and think about what life means to me, I think of a life full of experience and taking everything into perspective, living each day like it could be my last. I very much cherish my life and live it to the fullest. I love everyone in my life and would do anything for my friends and family. Life is full of ups and downs and even when times are tough I pray and do what I can do and leave the rest up to the good Lord. One thing that is always tough and hard to swallow in life is the death of a family member or friend. It is never easy and something that can really impact someone’s life in a positive and negative way. A positive way in which if that family member or loved one was suffering and although hard to watch you know they are in a better place in heaven. Negative in a way that knowing that the one you loved isn’t there anymore and all you have is the memories of the good times. It’s never easy when a loved one passes, their physical presence vanished and it almost feels as if there is a empty spot in your heart wanting them back. I have had many experiences with the death of loved ones and I can relay to you that it takes a huge toll on the heart. Everyone has different ways of dealing and coping with death. Should people put the value of life into monetary value or should life be kept solely as an emotional quantity? People and societies throughout the ages have been trying to answer the problem of putting the value of life into terms of dollar bills. The ancient Egyptians buried their dead with all of their worldly belongings. They believed a person’s monetary worth on Earth was over, and they should take all of that earthly worth with them to the afterlife. Modern day Americans are different from the Egyptians. Today people believe that the families of the dead should be compensated for “their” loss.
One of the concepts that people do not understand about grief and loss is the general idea of what it is and how it impacts people. According to Teen Health and Wellness’s article “Grief and Loss: Experiencing Loss,” is what happens when you no longer have something or someone that was extremely significant in your life, and the emotions that result are very real to you. You are entitled to these emotions. Many experts believe that the best thing for a person grieving to do is to let themselves feel sad. Lattanzi-Licht writes, common symptoms of grief are: “guilt or anger; restlessness; a sense of unreality about the loss; difficulty sleeping, eating and concentrating; mood changes; a loss of energy; constant thoughts of the
Life. A simple but extraordinary gift that should be cherished and treasured. A gift that can be seen as worthless to some but priceless to others. A gift condemned by certain individuals for the path it is following, while others turn the cheek of its sins. Life, is priceless and every man or woman is valuable no matter their beliefs, their finances, or their wrong doings in this world.
Death is a universally experienced phenomenon. In the United States alone, over 2.6 million people die each year (Center for Disease Control and Prevention [CDC], 2015). For practitioners, it is of utmost importance to better understand the process of grief to develop better interventions for bereaved individuals.
A loss is something most people find difficult dealing with. A term mostly used to refer to loss is bereavement which is the position of having lately departed with someone important in one’s life through death. It is normal in the human world to experience such a loss and people ought to know how to manage such experiences when they do happen. Bereavement is never easy; it is a period that individuals experience too much suffering that leaves them feeling vulnerable. Some people are also at risk of developing physical health and mental problems. Adjusting can take as long as a few months up to years depending on the individual in question.
The passing of a loved one is a universal experience and every person will experience loss or heartache, at some point in their life. Some people obviously appear upset, some do not, grief is individual, dependent on; age, gender, development stage, personality, their normal stress reactions, the support available, their relationships or attachments, other death experiences, how others react to their own grief around them (Thompson & Hendry, 2012).
What is the meaning of life? Well known Greek philosphers such as Socrates and Plato believed that our purpose in this life was to gain knowledge in preparation for the next life. Other Philosophers such as Epicurus believed that pleasure is the main goal in life. After giving these ideas lots of thought, I have come to my own conclusion that the true meaning of life is far more complex than either of these; far too complex for any human to fully comprehend. Though some may say, myself included, that the death of a family member is one of the hardest, toughest, traumatic things to deal with, it also comes with a good side. That good side is that it brings people together to not only mourn over a loss, but to celebrate the life of someone great. One can either sink from a situation like this, or one can rise. Any death is a traumatic event, a major loss that affects every member of the family as well as society (Leming & Dickinson 2011). Coping with loss it’s very important because it allows individuals to express their emotions and to heal their psychological pain. Grievance s a process that helps people deal with loss. Grief is a very powerful emotion that is regularly triggered or encouraged by death (Leming & Dickinson 2011). This process is complex and requires effort and energy from the griever. Coping with any kind of loss takes time and can be challenging. Takes time for someone to assimilated and accept that the other person isn’t there anymore.
My few years on this planet have been a bit confusing. I have learned of many aspects of life from which one can draw meaning, if indeed such meaning can be drawn. I have also learned that there can be no singular meaning of life to stand for us all, or even any one of us. What I have learned above all is that trying to put words to the meaning of life is a task of absolute absurdity. This is not to be confused with the idea that life has no meaning, for life certainly has meaning. However, there is no single meaning of life to be defined - life is different for us all. Therefore, rather than define life for an entire planet, I shall try to explain what life means as I perceive it, and why it means so.

Now I can say that I had never understood others suffering from a bad loss of a dear person. I would hate to hear that anybody died. When this happened to me, when my dear mother died, I started to understand all those people who lost someone they loved. There are perhaps no proper words to describe this pain, This intolerable pain which tears you apart, which is like a stone on your heart, and which make tears run down your face with each moment spent with the dear person who passed away. Time is unlikely to pass so fast this hurt, no matter what others claim.

What is life? That is a question that every human being has asked. Some might say it is merely just going to work every day and doing the things needed to survive. Others might say that life is a meaningful amount of time on Earth that is spent nurturing and caring for the ones you love. Both outlooks are not wrong.
