The soccer ball rolled towards me and before kicking it in half a second, I felt the warm sunset kiss my wet, dirty face. I kick the ball as hard as I could with all of my strength making the ball curve into the goalie’s position. GOAL! I scored my first ever point out of all the games I have played with my team. As I was cheering with my teammates, I look back to see my family. They were all sitting there watching happily and shouting my name with praise. I jogged back to my position. I remember when my mom, my coach, and I went to the soccer shop to buy my own equipment for soccer. As I saw all these amazing things in awe, my mom and my coach already have bought me the things that I needed to play. I didn’t notice it until they brought me home with a surprise of a bag full of equipment. …show more content…
They’re the best!”. This was just the beginning though. I played for several years from the age of 8 I believe up to my teen years. When I started high school, I only played two years of soccer which was during my freshman and sophomore year. Due to all the homeworks and responsibilities I had to do, I stopped playing my passion for soccer. One of my friends (Rubin) was in the same soccer team. He came up to me when it was passing periods during school and said, “Hey! How come you’re not in the soccer team anymore?”. I responded, “I have to focus on helping my family with the money, bruh. Or else we’ll go
Soccer is my favorite sport, no I don’t watch it on tv, nor do I have a favorite soccer team. So, it all started when I was eight years old I believe I told my mom that I didn’t want to do a certain thing anymore and that I wanted to play a sport a.k.a soccer. She of course told me sure. So she signed me up for soccer a couple of days later. I was so happy I was jumping up and down with excitement. Little did I know that I would love the sport. So, the day of the first soccer practice I was nervous I never done anything with the team and I had these questions running in my head like what if no one likes you here? Or what if you like the sport? Or what if you aren’t even good enough ? but I let these questions slide and I had learned how to play the sport. In that amount of time I thought no more like Challenged myself and said “ Cassie you can do this you are going to be apart of this team and you are going to be the best.” From then on I challenged myself, I practiced almost all the
I have always loved soccer, ever since I was small and had just started it, along with kindergarten. Now I was venturing into a new level of soccer: elementary school soccer. For the past year, I had been watching professional soccer, making sure to learn from every important detail that had made those larger than life players so extraordinary, so talented, and so perfect. I wrote down facts, statistics, and formations that seemed to bring them success. I practiced soccer often. For a while, I would practice for an hour or more at home after school, and when it got too cold to go outside, I would go in my garage to juggle and shoot the ball, then up to two hours at a time. I was so excited for the elementary school soccer program and I thought
In the summer before my senior year, I tore my ACL while playing a small soccer scrimmage. The doctor explained my injury as very common in female soccer. But the heartbreaking reality made me feel much more than the statistic on the dry erase board that Dr. Mayer held. I loved waking up, going to school, and finishing the day with some type of sports practice! After the incident happened, I cried and whimpered for hours as my leg swelled to the size of a balloon. But the pain was much more than skin and muscle deep. With a post-surgery recovery time of nine months, I realized my high school athletic career had come to an abrupt and expeditious end. I had also ran out of college credits at my small school in the same year. Because of this,
“Go Spartans Go!” screamed the crowd as we took the field. I felt nervous, with sweat dripping from my face and my hands feeling moist. The moment I took my position, I felt destined to be the best player on the field and thought to myself, “I can do it.” It was my first start for my career as a varsity soccer player for Brookfield East. I wanted to make every opportunity count. I could smell the scent of the freshly cut grass and the aroma of the concession stand. The referee blew his whistle and we were off to the races. The first 45 minutes went by in a heartbeat and I was exhausted. 5 minutes after halftime, the unthinkable happened. As I was sprinting for the ball, my knee gave out and twisted beneath me. I fell in an instant and I felt
The feeling of defeat is one like no other. It was my freshman year, and I had just made varsity soccer for Vestavia Hills. The goal for the team: 7A state champions.
Throughout my lifetime, activities, events, and services that I am involved in have shaped me as a person. The one thing that I personally think has had the most impact on my character is being a soccer coach for Lil’ Kickers, it has given me qualities of leadership that will carry on throughout my entire life.
Chasing the ball down the field to soon hear a loud crack followed by silence.
The sport of soccer ( called football in most of the world) is considered to be the world’s most popular sport. Just kick it up, just kick it, goal kick, to the the goal, get your kicks.
As long as I could remember, I have hated soccer because I did not have the physical abilities. I tried my best to stay out of soccer until one day my parents signed me up for a team without informing me. Thus, I had no interest in that sport. My soccer team, “The Newcomers” changed my emotions and led our way to the city championship.
No, I do not speak Spanish. I didn’t “hop over a fence” to get into the United States, and it may come as a shock, but I have no intention of becoming a professional soccer player. The majority of my life, I have been subjected to preconceived assumptions of what a woman of my race should be like. Having the last name Gonzalez, and bearing the complexion of someone of Latin decent has influenced others to believe that they know exactly what type of person I am. It is for this reason, that I do not only identify myself as a proud Latina, but more importantly as an advocate for multiculturalism and diversity.
Since I can remember, I’ve always played soccer. Whether it was kicking the ball around my kitchen and dining room (this didn’t go over well with my mother) or playing on a youth team, club team, or school team, soccer has always flowed through my veins and helped prepare me for the challenges I faced ahead. These early experiences foreshadowed my maturity and growth through soccer.
Even though I cried after every game because I wasn’t good enough and in practice always crossed the finish line last I still somehow loved the game. It wasn't the only game I loved though; I also loved soccer. After I kept the benches warm 6th grade year I decided I was going to work hard. I started running a mile at least once a week. Which turned into two miles after I filled a few buckets of sweat after a couple weeks. I had convinced my uncle to let me be a substitute on his indoor soccer team since I already missed tryouts.
One day May 17, 1977 one wonderful women gave birth to a baby girl at noon. I was literally born with the worlds biggest passion for soccer. I was living with a soccer life. It even in my blood. For example both my dad and uncle were soccer players while my dad is scoring goals my uncle had the most important job, watching all the games. I wouldn't even be alive if soccer wasn't in my life or even Cristiano Ronaldo.
Since I was five years old I have been a goalie for my soccer team whether it be the local rec team or the high school varsity team. I have always loved the game but I have also enjoyed playing multiple other sports such as basketball, ski team, softball, and eventing. With juggling all these activities as well as doing well in school I never really got all year round training many other goalies get. So when I was a freshman there was an upperclassmen goalie who was the varsity goalie and it was expected that when I was a junior I would take over where she left off. However, a bunch of changes started to happen that year. We got a new coach which meant we all had to prove to him that we deserved our spots the team. There was also a new freshman
This year I would like to play soccer, babysit, and save money. I hope these things will make me a better person or help me go through 2018.
