After choosing my career—Neonatal nursing. The next decision is which college I want to attend. I have had a few colleges in mind such as: Southern miss, William Carey, and University of Louisiana in Lafayette. I think that career day will be will help me finally decide on which college I would like to attend. Leading up to career day I was very excited because that was something the senior class gets to do every year. For me, It made me feel more like a senior. Therefore, when I found out the junior class would be attending the career day with us I was a little upset. Although the junior class was planned to come I was still very excited about joining Franklinton High School for their career day. A few days before career day Mrs. …show more content…
Although I had everything planned out in my head; when I walked through the doors I felt very panicked and did not know what table to go to first. I looked around for a minute I reclaimed my thoughts. Now Blair and I were on the look for Southern miss, which was on the other side of the gym. We got over there and talked to the man who was standing there, his name was Landon. Blair asked him a few questions as I filled out the form to get emails from them and picked up a sticker, information book and pen. I waited for Blair to finish talking because I wanted to walk with her and not by myself because I get nervous. I am also very bad at talking to the people there because I do not know what to ask them and I do not want to sound stupid. The next table I visited was William Carey. I have already filled out an e-mail paper when I visited them in the summer, so I just got a flyer thing off of their table, and I looked at the posters. I did not talk to the man because there were other people talking to him. I am not sure about the order I went in, but some of the other colleges I visited were: PRCC, The TOPS table, ULL, Xavier college, Southern University in New Orleans, Nicholls state University, Northwestern state. While visiting the man at the Xavier table Emily and I found out some information. He asked us what we wanted to do when we got out of high school, we told him. Although he
When I was younger I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field. I've gone through many different occupations that have interested me. After I shadowed I think I have found a job that I could really enjoy. Labor And Delivery Nurses are very hard working people, they work long hours and have to take care of not only the newborns, but the families too. I decided to choose this career because I love the idea of being able to take care of babies, and help the laboring moms. There’s just something about bringing a little life into the world that seems amazing.
When working as a health unit coordinator some of my my duties is to transcribe doctor orders, process doctor orders, make appointments for clients, order supplies as needed. When I am working as a nursing assistant my job requires me to bathe and dress patients, take vital signs, serve meals, set up medical equipment, answer call lights as needed, observe changes in clients
Having been a certified nursing assistant for just about six years I have had many experiences and come into contact with countless people who have touched my life and inspired me to become greater; to become a nurse. Co-workers, patients, patient family members and my own friends and family have always told me to pursue a career as a registered nurse. A very special co-worker of mine, Kathy a registered nurse, inspired me every day I came into work. She always had a smile on her face, she was always the first nurse to rush to help, she would listen to the patients and take the time to talk to them, and she treated every patient that came on our unit with care. Kathy would also take the time to answer questions that any of the CNAs had and
Comforting and helping people before, during, and after a procedure is something that has intrigued me for a while. I’m relatively accustomed to the field of nursing, considering my dad has to go to the doctor for numerous checkups. Most nurse anesthetist work alone, without the supervision of an anesthesiologist, which is one reason why I chose to research this career. Nurse anesthetists, normally called CRNA (certified register nurse anesthetist), are the primary provider of anesthesia in rural America. In some states they are the sole provider of anesthesia. My initial resource for information about my career was the Mississippi Choices website. Next, I searched the Occupational Outlook Handbook website. Then, I conducted
Children have always been an interest of mine. I grew up as any girl had, always had my dolly dragging behind me. As I have gotten older my interests with children have not lessened. I would like to eventually become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. With this in mind, I like to talk about my future profession with someone that can give me their honest opinion. The person that I have always turned to is my aunt, Nikki Sickmann.
I'd like to share an example from my personal experience that illustrates nursing as an art. While working as a nursing assistant there was a patient who had just been newly admitted into the nursing home. This was his first time being a resident in a rehabilitation facility so he was very hesitant and scared. During his first day, he refused to let me take his vital signs. However, I noticed the uneasy look on his face and decided to talk to him further and discuss his fears. He explained to me that he'd gotten his blood drawn several times that day and didn't want to be stuck anymore. After getting an understanding of how he felt I was able to address his concerns and explain that there no needles involved in obtaining his vital signs.
For my Project Life presentation, I chose to do mine on a registered nurse. The reason I chose to do mine on a registered nurse is because I love to help people. When I help people, it gives me a great feeling. A registered nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a college's nursing program or from a school of nursing and has passed a national licensing exam. In order to be a registered nurse you must have either your associates or bachelors degree. You can get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), if you want to advance in the profession. You can also get a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), it may lead to advances such as: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Anesthetist Nurse, Mid-wife Nurse, or a Nurse Practitioner.
When every girl in your family becomes a nurse, choosing a career can be quite pressuring, especially when you can never imagine yourself becoming a nurse. Nurses remind me of blood, and I am definitely not the type of person to be working with blood. Therefore, I am not very interested in becoming a nurse. Nurses are here to aid people when they are sick. There are tons of different types of nurses. Two specific ones are RN and BSN. A RN is a registered nurse while a BSN is a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Although both jobs will take part in treating a patient, the BSN will have a leader role while the RN helps.
The best feeling in the world to me is not going to sleep in my cozy bed after a long and exhausting day at school or work, it is not wiping off a full face of makeup or even cuddling up in a warm blanket after the cold, chilly winter nights. Sure those things are great but the feeling I get when I show any act of kindness is what I define as the best feeling in the world. Having the chance to impact the world, myself, and even my family, is what I have strived for my whole life. The chance to save lives, be there and care for people through illnesses, injury, pain or loss. Pursing a career in nursing is my ultimate goal. It is a profession that allows me to see people at their worst, all the while, helping them become their best.
Nursing is a profession that requires intellectual, emotional and physical strength. Nurses are revered for their compassion and grace during difficult situations that involve life and death. An attribute I bring to the nursing profession beyond my academic abilities is eagerness. I am eager to learn, eager to adapt, eager to grow, and eager to serve. I welcome and embrace challenge and change as both are occurrences in the healthcare field.
Mental health nurses provide care and support to people with emotional and mental disorders. These nurses must be very skilled communicators, especially when speaking and listening to patients. Mental health nurses organize treatment and therapy for their patients. This job of mental health nurses involves providing care to patients, a four year college or university, & the ability to be patient and compassionate towards patients.
After the training day was over at 3pm, there was this one girl named Shy who was there to help me. She was a student who helps and welcomed other
For is weeks reading assignments I want to start by admitting this was a mass amount of reading to take in. Undoubtable I was impressed with the amount of knowledge I took away from this assignment. The nursing career is hard to explain while identifying exactly what the career entails. This task isn’t foreign to me because I’m constantly confronted with questions from other people, “what is it like raising two special need kids?” as well as “how do you manage it all?” While reading I found myself chuckling at how society needs a clean cut definition to what a nurse is. Any mom can tell you what the beginning steps to nursing are however that is only a small glimpse into the role of nursing. There are a few people within our book that stood
Hello everyone, I am Tiffani Coker, currently a second semester senior here at Southeastern. My anticipated graduation is set for December 2015. This is just four short months away, which allows me to finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Biology. I did not begin my college journey in Psychology, it all began with dreams of becoming a nurse. In the spring of 2014, I was accepted into the ECU/SOSU Nursing Program. During that semester of nursing courses, I quickly realized I was not mentally or psychically prepared for such demanding courses. After much thought, this is when I decided to go the Psychology route. Psychology and Nursing
It was a pleasure seeing you this past weekend. I am sorry that I wasn’t able to stop and have a proper chat with you though, so I wanted to get in touch.
