“Okay class, today we’re going to continue our lesson from yesterday; finding the area of a triangle!”
That was my teacher, Ms. Allard talking. I was in 5th period math, at Hibiscus Middle School. Everything’s the same here; same old and same school routine everyday. The teacher tells you what you’re going to learn, you take notes, then you do the actual work. I was taking notes like always, and passing notes around with Allyson. Allyson Glen is my best friend; we’ve known each other since kindergarten. She has a nice wavy hair mix of dark chocolate and light brown together, her eyes have the color of a sharp dark brown combination, and she’s about the same height as me. We're both 12. Both seventh graders.

I looked over at Alys and saw that her face was as red as a tomato. It’s very noticeable when she’s blushing. I looked back at the note and looked back up at her; I gave her a facial expression to show that I’d answer the note later. As best friends, we give each other signals and signs to communicate. She answered back with a thumbs up.
It was after 5th period; Allyson and I were next to our lockers putting our textbooks and journals away. Just as we were about to talk, Chris came by and greeted us. “Hey guys!”
Allyson started blushing. ‘Hey’ was all she said back. I waved in reply.
“So, how was it being the center of attention in math class today?” he asked while smirking.
“Um, let’s just say it was really awkward and embarrassing..hehe..” Oh, did I forget to mention that Chris is also in our math class? Well, he is.
“What were you guys even talking about when you were passing notes?”
“Um, some guy..” I muttered.
“Oh really? Who? I promise I won’t tell..” he remarked.
“Uh...”

“Get me carrots! You know how much I love em’! ;)” Chris said energetically.
“Hmm..just get me a salad as usual; can't eat anything with meat remember?” Valerie reminded.
“Got it! Be back in 5!” I headed off to the lunch line and got myself a cup of water and a chicken sandwich, then went to the vegetarian area. While waiting in line, I looked over at the table to see if Val and Chris were still there. Good, they are. Focusing on the line, I saw a familiar face...it was Meghan Carter. Ugh, Valerie’s archenemy. What a coincidence; as I was thinking about her, she randomly turned around and gave me a quirky look. “Oh hi Alys! I didn't know you go to Mama’s Vegetarian Cafe!”
“Not trying to be mean and all, but only my friends and family can call me ‘Alys’; and I don't go to this place for lunch. I'm only here for Valerie and Chris!”
“But aren't I your friend? We've been friends since 5th grade.” She started to sound irritated.
“Uh, okay. I guess you could say that; look, it's my turn to order. I guess I'll see you in choir!” I quickly left before she could say anything back. I walked back to the table after I payed; while walking back, I overheard Val and Chris talking. I hid behind a table so they didn’t hear me
I was never the type of kid to standout in school especially not in the hallway. I was never too tall, never too short, not too scrawny, but the one thing I like to do is make people laugh. Yet even though that was very fun and all I still leave my legacy behind, which as weird, as this sounds, I was the one kid teachers never took seriously, but for the most part I never got that bad of a grade, in middle school(except when it came to 7th grade language arts class).
“It’s okay, same here, I like your shirt by the way,” I looked down to see that she had just complimented the same old Jonas Brothers shirt I’ve been wearing for 2 years now. “That’s my favorite band!”
“You should have thought about being friends before you started going behind my back to talk to Sara. If you would have told me you guys were talking before maybe I wouldn’t have done this, but you started acting weird, and we haven’t been the same friends since me and Sara broke up so thanks for ruining our friendship.” Todd said inraged.
At the end of middle school, I had this idea that there were lockers in the hallway and you would get 15 min in passing to go to your classes. My sisters told me this was wasn’t true , but I believed it because I had seen it on TV. My sister used to talk about the bridge at school; in my head I imagined it to be small wooden bridges dividing the school into 3rd for each program (M, H, and LASI). My sister also told me about a pool on the 5th floor.
As I looked around the room, I saw thirty boards being set up. Around each board sat two players who despite being friendly, were at war with each other. As I watched all thirty battles progress, I listened to the room; ripe with conversation.
"Leah, is their something wrong?" I glanced up at my father (the teacher) then replied "No Daddy, I'll call you later I need to find Sam" I kissed my father on the cheek like I always do and ran out of the class to Sam's collage dorm.
“You only say that because detention sounds like plenty of fun to you,” she scoffed, rolling her eyes with a slight grin.
"I 'm Alisha Agnihotri, I 'm known as Aly," She said giving him a hand to shake, which he took. Instead of going back to her phone on which she was just scrolling through Instagram, she decided to converse with him.
“I won’t eat my vegetables,” She announced happily. She formed a bit of cloud to create a soft white lump. Then the patted it down with her small hands.
“Thank you, I almost thought that I might end up sitting in the floor, the class is completely full. My name is Alex by the way.”
“Baby… I was worried about you. Why did you turn off your cell phone? Why didn’t you give me a call?” Looking not unrepentant at all, like nothing happened, Rosy took Jacqui’s hand, however my friend promptly pushed it away.
“I just wanted to have a talk with you while nobody else is around. It’s about Angel. I know you guys are becoming good friends, but it seems like she’s gotten awfully protective of you all of a sudden.”
"..." Her question caught him off guard. It should not have surprised him, she knew him really well. They shared everything, or rather as much as
“How does it feel to finally have friends?” Cate smirked as I looked over at her.
“Well i’m always shy even if i am the oldest kid in the school.” He had said.
