A place called Tradesville I grew(verb) up in a community called Tradesville(noun) located in Lancaster South Carolina. When ever your in Tadesville you know you are home once have you seen the green(adjective)grass near the tabernacle church and(conjunction) the old 1920's looking house near the church. One thing I(pronoun) remember growing up in Tradesville was in the spring time you could smell the freshly(adverb) cut pasture next to my house and the pallin blowing around in the spring air. When I was a little boy during the summer or early spring I would often play under the shade tree in the back yard. I remember it like it was yesterday. My favorite place to play was also in the front yard digging with my dad's shovel and smelling the
It was a nice summer morning we I was all of a suden shoke like turbulence on a plane to wake up. It turns out I slept threw my alarm to wake up for the day. It was about 11:00 am and today we were heading to Florida and our flight takes off at 1:00 pm. You may think that we had time to make the airport in Milwaukee but, we had to drive all the way to Chicago, Illinois because there was no flight for Florida in Milwaukee. Luckily I had packed the day before with the rest of my family so all we had to do was wait for our aunt Lisa to take us to the aiport in Chicago. She showed up five minutes later with a mini van and there was about seven of us jammed in there. It was alright for me because in our family if you called “shot-gun” or “I
I witnessed my cousins boyfriend corpse lying on my neighbors lawn. It was a humid summer night around 3:30 when I peeked through my window and saw my devastated cousin sobbing uncontrollably on my decaying porch. Being from East chicago, Indiana has transformed me into the person I am today.
This past year, I have been apart of Naperville Central’s brand new Special Spaces club. When my friend approached me and asked me to join, I agreed even though I had no clue what I was involving myself in. In retrospective, I can honestly say that becoming a part of Special Spaces has been one of the most meaningful, fun, and fulfilling experiences I have had in high school.
Growing up in a small town is something many people don’t have the opportunity to experience. On the other hand, some people who do get this chance don’t really think of it as being an “opportunity” or anything special. I would have to disagree; being raised in Caddo Mills, Texas has been such a blessing and has impacted me more than anything else in my life. It’s in this town that I grew up with my peers like a family. It’s here that I met the greatest circle of friends. It’s here that I had the opportunity to meet some of the best educators and receive an awesome education. Most importantly, it’s here that I made the decision to follow Christ. I’m extremely grateful that Caddo Mills is the place God lead my parents to raise my sister and me.
I had the chance to attend the final legislative breakfast of the year sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce on April 17th. When I first walked into the room I wasn’t sure where I was supposed to sit or if there was something I had to do before I sat down. Luckily, one of the ladies from the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce noticed I was a little lost, so she asked me if I was a student and then she showed me where my seat was, right in front of the representatives’ tables and the podium. More people started to show up and eventually, Representative Curt Hanson, Senator Mark Chelgren, and Representative David Heaton arrived.
In the small city of Harvill, there were a group of investigators. The six of them named Willy, Mary, Shawn, twins, Jojo and Carol, and I, Hubert. We solved many crimes though the one where had recently started was an interesting and puzzling one. We were the only ones qualified who could actually solve a case. There was a killer amuck.
My trade at the Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel, MD is carpentry. I chose carpentry because I love to construct buildings. I have always wanted to build and design my own home. The plan is to build my mother’s house in the future. At this time there is a demand for carpenters in Maryland. My goal is to seek employment as a carpenter in Silver Springs MD, once I leave Woodland Job Corps Center in Laurel MD. A company located in Silver Springs MD, Terry Carpenters states “if I sign up and join their business, they will help me find homeowners that need help building and repairing” (Carpenters). If I choose to work for a company like them, I can start my own business for myself. Their slogan is “Get new clients Grow your business, we connect you with homeowners who are looking for your services” (Carpenters).
The story you are about to read is me recollecting the events of January, 6, 2008. We just moved away from Judsonia Arkansas to a place called Fisher. You see around the areas close by there are fields of beans, and other agriculture products. Fisher is a small town closer to the countryside, which I particularly didn’t mind.
My transition to Oak Knoll was excellent but arduous. I loved the spiritual community and the close knit class. But, I had a harder time adjusting academically. The rigorous academic classes at Oak Knoll resulted in a drop in my GPA. These grades don’t reflect my work ethic and I enjoy the challenge of a more difficult school. These were enhanced expectations that I couldn’t meet at the time. My lowered GPA resulted from a sickness that extended through my sophomore years. Once I was better, I was able to do better in school, which shows in my previous year grades. These year’s show my true academic potential. I am confident that I will be successful at the college I plan on
Last week, Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village, an apartment complex on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan, was sold to the Blackstone Group. In the recent past, the buying and selling of this complex has only induced fear and frustration to its residents. Since its creation, Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village has been home to the middle-class families of New York City. The complex was established after World War II by MetLife specifically to house returning veterans, and in return for a large property tax break the rents were kept low and affordable. Unfortunately, recent buyers have worked to replace longtime, rent-regulated residents with tenants who pay three times as much.
The morning was shining brightly with a nice ninety degree weather day. Friends from Florida were visiting for the week. Today was our splash zone day where we go to The Great Lakes Military Base and use paddle boards, kayaks, water bikes, swim in the lake and eat lots of food.
The alluring Mead Valley; where there’s roadkill on every main road, starving dogs on your trail, and The Red Store where the whole town is acquainted with one another. Having a large family in a small house is not an uncommon occurrence, and with this sizable household, it’s evident that my mind and persona was shaped by many from a young age. My mom always advised me to be appreciative of the situation I was born into, because in the real world, when deprivation in any form struck me down, I would have the resources to get back up and labor through the rigorous times. I was disciplined through trial and error parenting. Instead of putting a stop to my mistakes completely, I was given the privilege to make my own decisions and learn from them,
I live in Chandler, just of the Santan 202 freeway and Gilbert road. This is a great community and it borders the city of Gilbert, which means we enjoy amenities from both cities. There various characteristics that impact the quality of life of my family but the top three are hospitals, schools and colleges, and various city parks. The hospital (Mercy Gilbert), provide various health care needs for my family. My daughter was actually born in this hospital. The quality of care they provide has helped my family with easy access to care. School and colleges in my community has served the residents and outsiders with good quality education. This has a huge impact on my family as all my siblings at a point in their lives attended Chandler-Gilbert
Eighteen years ago Julie Carol Parton (my loving mother) and Ric Parton (my inspirational father) brought Logan Parton (that's me) into this unique and vastly changing world. Little did I know that one day I was going to set immensely challenging goals to achieve. I grew up in a small town, near the corner of Indiana, known as Vevay. For the early portions of my life I lived on a middle sized farm with my family. There always was two different perspectives within our household. On one side of the house there was my father and my oldest sister Christina, and on the other side was my mother and my middle sister Melisa. The perspective that my father and oldest sister shared was that they both felt the want to make money and move away from Vevay, on the other side my mother and middle sister had the mindset of wanting to be farmers and
I had violent, grass-stained war games with my neighborhood friends, while my mother worked in her small vegetable garden among the honeybees, and watched things grow. An ever-present warming smell of knishes and hot dogs permeated around every inch of my block as the nearby concession pumped a constant flow of fresh food to hungry little leaguers and their families. Looking up, the summer sky looked like an Easter egg God had dipped in blue dye.
