In the small city of Harvill, there were a group of investigators. The six of them named Willy, Mary, Shawn, twins, Jojo and Carol, and I, Hubert. We solved many crimes though the one where had recently started was an interesting and puzzling one. We were the only ones qualified who could actually solve a case. There was a killer amuck. The first murder case we found was Gerald Johnson which was found dead in his bathtub. On his forehead was a sticker reading H. It was unknown who killed him and he left no traces behind, not even a weapon. Not even the sticker had fingerprints. My teammates all thought it was just a one time thing and nothing more. I thought otherwise and was right six days later, when the mayor of our town, Mayor Robrecht
On Saturday, December 1, 1900, a man named John Hossack was killed in his sleep with a hatchet by his wife, Margaret Hossack. The story told by Margaret was that she had heard what sounded like two boards banging together and by that time the attacker had fled and she didn’t catch a glimpse of him. The next thing she saw was her extremely wounded husband, John, who had a five-inch cut into his head and a fractured skull. A doctor, who came and examined John, and said there was no hope and John died the next morning. As an investigation started, a burglary was thought of as the first motive but the idea flawed because nothing was stolen so the idea was quickly abandoned. In the 4 days between the murder and the funeral, the police talked to
In the case of the three murdered eight-year olds, West Memphis police department’s investigative work led to a numbered list of suspects. Some of the suspects were quickly ruled out while others took a little more investigative work. In the end, the list of suspects was shortened until all who remained were Christopher Morgan, Mr. Bojangles, John Mark Byers, Terry Hobbs, and the
I have written many essays since I was in middle school yet most of my writing was not that important besides for a grade. Yet there is one piece of writing I wrote that change my life and felt that it had an important impact to The City of Chicago. My teacher during that time wanted the class to enter in a citywide competition, which is called “Do The Write Thing”. It is a way for students to voice their opinions on how to stop the violence in Chicago. I wanted to help reduce the violence in Chicago since many youths are being killed in the streets every single day. In my paper, I mainly focused on three body paragraphs. The first one was why the violence in the city was increasing. The second one was some type of violence that I have witness in my own personal life. The final paragraph
There are many infamous unsolved mysteries throughout time, and some investigations span decades. A few mysteries include D.B. Cooper, Jack the ripper, and the unknown assailant of J.F.K., but none of these mysteries compare to the mystery surrounding the Hagley Woods murder and the conspiracies surrounding it. The case of a woman who met a grisly demise has inspired the locals to persist in figuring out who killed the woman whose body was never claimed.
In a small midwestern town in Villisca, Iowa rests the quiet house of Josiah B. Moore and Sarah Montgomery Moore, who were both killed with an ax around midnight along with their 4 children Katherine, Herman, Boyd, and Paul. All in the age range between 5 and 11. In addition to those murders, as if it weren’t bad enough, two friends of theirs were sleeping over. The Stillinger sisters, Lena and Ina both just 12 an 8 years old, were killed as well. The Villisca Murder Case as called by law enforcement was the longest unsolved case of our time. It’s still unsolved, and has been left open for more than 100 years. It was a terrible tragedy because the small town of Villisca lost eight innocent lives that night. The murderer unknown, evidence they hardly have any, and eight people’s skulls
The city of Chicago has been displayed as a dangerous city in which all residents are affiliated with drugs, gangs, and misconduct of firearms. Whether someone fits into this stereotype or not, is normally based on their surroundings and their interactions with others. Growing up in Gage Park, named one of the worst neighborhoods, falling into this stereotype and becoming affiliated with drugs, guns, and gangs, would not be too hard for someone to do. However, I have lived in Gage Park my whole life and have not fallen into the status quo. I have had family members and friends fall into this realm of unpleasantness and watching them become another wrong kind of statistic is upsetting. I have been faced with the decision of continuing to have
Last week, Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village, an apartment complex on the Lower Eastside of Manhattan, was sold to the Blackstone Group. In the recent past, the buying and selling of this complex has only induced fear and frustration to its residents. Since its creation, Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village has been home to the middle-class families of New York City. The complex was established after World War II by MetLife specifically to house returning veterans, and in return for a large property tax break the rents were kept low and affordable. Unfortunately, recent buyers have worked to replace longtime, rent-regulated residents with tenants who pay three times as much.
I met up with the rest of my team at the crime scene. I showed my badge as it clearly stated my position as a NYPD Lieutenant officer. I went under the black and yellow striped bordering tape, to see a pale lifeless body on the floor.
The Dayton community is a unique, diverse, and energetic family to be a part of while studying abroad. When I first went abroad, I had a small network of friends that I knew were going to be on the trip, as well, but there were many other students that I did not know. However, after a few days, strangers became friends. There is a quote that says, “It’s not about where you are, but who you’re with”. I live by this quote and agree that my trip to Rome would not have been what was without my classmates by my side. In addition, I have learned many new things about myself by spending my time in Rome with my classmates. Our common interest of UD provided us with a bond that united us to truly become our own little community amongst the thousands of people in Rome
Of all the murders and crimes the police have been able to figure out they still haven't figured out one. All the killings are from one man, every single death, all in the Mayberry Forest, was by a knife. Mayberry being the town that owned that part of the forest back in the 1950’s.
It was not normal for my parents to agree to go on vacation with the whole family. Especially on such short notice. But, we did agree to go. We did agree to pack our bags. We did agree to the twenty hours it would take us to reach Los Angeles. However, nobody realized what they were getting themselves into. At least, I did not, at the time.
Relaxed, confident, and oh so good looking, Sydney is like the popular girl in school that everyone wants to hang out with. And she knows it, flaunting her shimmering harbour, soaring structures, sun-drenched surf beaches, and leafy gardens like a pretty party dress and a new hair-do. But don’t let all that beauty fool you, she’s smart too, in the form of world-class art galleries, state-of-the-art performance venues, and adventurous cutting-edge cuisine, that consistently see her top of the class.

As far as families go, mine is definitely a ‘variety pack’. My father, an engineer, and my mother, an occupational therapist, raised my four younger siblings and I to be independent, open-minded, and selfless individuals. We were brought up to respect the world around us, think for ourselves, and appreciate others opinions, even if they differed from our own. My family’s hometown of DeWitt, Iowa is one of those cliché places where bare feet and fishing define summertime and winter revolves around snowball fights with the neighbors. DeWitt is one of those communities where everyone is willing to lend a helping hand, whether or not they know the person in need. Humility and kindness are valued and are constantly displayed on both community and
Eighteen years ago Julie Carol Parton (my loving mother) and Ric Parton (my inspirational father) brought Logan Parton (that's me) into this unique and vastly changing world. Little did I know that one day I was going to set immensely challenging goals to achieve. I grew up in a small town, near the corner of Indiana, known as Vevay. For the early portions of my life I lived on a middle sized farm with my family. There always was two different perspectives within our household. On one side of the house there was my father and my oldest sister Christina, and on the other side was my mother and my middle sister Melisa. The perspective that my father and oldest sister shared was that they both felt the want to make money and move away from Vevay, on the other side my mother and middle sister had the mindset of wanting to be farmers and
