The entrepreneur I will be interviewing will be John Reedy, my dad. He is located here in Macomb Illinois. John has lived here in Macomb his entire life. He created his own trucking business when he was only 21 years old, which has changed from an owner-operator semi business into a camper hauling business with diesel pickups. John says he had always wanted to be his own boss ever since he was in middle school. He said he had never liked to take orders from other people and that he knew he could do a good job on his own. Growing up John came from less fortunate family and had to always work hard for everything he wanted and needed, since his dad and mom were always at work he was on his own basically. Which I believe is what gave him a good strong background to start his own business. He knew it was going to be tough, but he isn’t the kind of person who gives up. …show more content…
He did this to provide for his family, at the time just my mom and him. He was gone multiply days in a row traveling across the United States. After doing this for a few years, he decided to buy his own semi and he put the “Reedy Trucking” logo on it. This is what his business is called. At the age of 24 John bought 3 more trucks and leased 3 drivers to his company. He was no longer the only one in his business. Not shortly after that I came along and He let the three drivers he had leased on leave and it was only him again. He did this so he could stay home with me more and so he wouldn’t have to keep track of the three
The entrepreneur I interviewed was, Dehra Battle. She is the owner and stylist at Hair Savvy Hair and Nail Salon. The salon opened up on the Spring of 2010. I have known Dehra for the past 10 years. She has been my personal hair stylist for the last 10 years. Being a close family friend, I have witnessed her trials and tribulations with being an entrepreneur. I choose Dehra, because she is a wonderful and hard working woman; she has a passion for helping others with self esteem by creating signature styles that will give any woman the confidence. Dehra was not satisfied with working under a salon owner who was not concerned about the workers safety and customer satisfaction. She wanted to be in control and create an environment that customers would love to attend regularly.
The most impactful event I experienced, was the loss of my father. I lost my father as a result of homicide, but he had made choices that kept him from being in my life. As a child, I saw my father every month and I enjoyed it: I had two sisters, I could hang out with and play with our dolls. My father could be a loving and great person when he chose to be.
Jim F. Hughey III, is a father of three, a husband, and a Circuit Court judge from Birmingham, Alabama. His father Jim Hughey Jr. was a lawyer and his grandfather Jim Hughey was a dentist. “The name Jim Hughey bared a lot of weight and I knew I had to continue the legacy, Hughey said.”
The end of an era is now upon many current and former West Virginia University students. After the 2017 spring semester there will be no more clanking of the heating system, no more puke in showers, no more shattered windows in the breeze way and ultimately no more Arnold Hall.
I interviewed Mr. Dean Bond two weeks ago. He works as a Sr. Chemist for Mallinckrodt, where he has been employed for over 14 years. I estimate he is in his 40s.
On January 21st, 2018 I interviewed a gentleman by the name of Eric who I have known since him since 2008. He is 35 years old, he grew up two towns over from me, but grew up in an entirely different community. As I talked to Eric, I realize how much he was influenced by his family biologically, psychology and socially.
Living in Los Angeles, we are immersed with people from all over the world, which makes Los Angeles a huge “melting pot.” My parents had a long journey to find a better future for themselves and family members. My parents were born in Yucatan, Mexico. My father William Pool was born in a small town name Kopte. My father is the oldest of two. According to my father it was hard growing and living in Yucatan. My father expressed that he had to leave school after his first year in high school to help his family out. He had to work in the fields, under the hot sun for low pay. He also expressed that he never wanted to leave school. My father wanted to be a famous architecture and build a nice house for his mother. For that reason he decided to migrate
It has been an honor and a privilege to work for Richard Henderson this year. He always pushes our staff to go above and beyond our best selves. The standards that he has for our staff and community are very high but I think that it has made us a strong team and an even stronger community. Richard is in his office with the door open during the week, available for anyone with questions or concerns. It is easy to strike up a conversation with him at any time and it will most likely be memorable, due to his great sense of humor and great Scottish accent. Richard makes a point to be out in the community, showing off his pool skills or walking his two dogs Brody and Mosa, the residents know and love him. His wife is also very present in our community
Remembering seeing his dad for the last time, Jason flashed back to when he saw his dad's plane take off for Africa. Later that day Jason was watching the news with his mom when he saw that a plane had crashed just off the coast of Africa. Terrified Jason's mom called the airline company to see if that was the flight her husband and Jason's dad was on. With a mournful look on Jason's mom's face she told Jason the horrific news.
It's been two weeks, since Jayden and I have were talking in the food court of the mall. We exchanged numbers and talk a lot. We have so much in common, but he is also a badboy. I don't know what I think about that at the moment, but I mean he is one of the sweetest guys ever. Tanner and Zoella are also really close, they have been on a couple of dates since then and they are goals.
As a native of Massachusetts, I never cared much about school. And with parents that didn’t care if I went to school either, I just didn’t take the time to go. I mean, why would I sit in school and listen to a teacher rambling on about some useless information. This got me into trouble at a young age. I started to pick up the profession of theft. This got me into prisons all over New England. As you can image, it wasn’t too good of a life growing up.
Beep!beep!beep! The sound of my alarm clock ringing at 5:00 o'clock in the morning, bringing me back from a deep sleep. Realizing that today is another day of working with my dad in the hot steaming sun for continuous long hours. Growing up in my teenage years I've always been spoiled and I never really knew how hard my dad had worked as an electrician and to keep a roof under our heads. My dad worked more than 60 hours a week and took care of 5 people in his family. I've always been given designers shoes to high-end brand clothing to even a 400 dollar watch. Pretty spoiled huh ? Not many kids get to have the things I have and I've always took life for granted .i started working with my dad in the beginning of this summer and it's been the
Being a shy person is really hard especial when I have to do speeches in front of the class. I don’t like talk in front of a group of people, especially in classes. When I do my face gets really red, and I tried to talk normally, but somehow words come out faster than I expected. I have to explain everything again, by first trying to talk slower, but then it again words come faster than I expected. This summer I join a program called Genesys Works. Genesys Works is a program that helps young high school students find a career and are given an opportunity to get an internship at a company. The summer training is to help prepare for getting ready to work in a professional place. During the Genesys Works Summer Training program, I have improved
I would like to show yet another pillar of strength in my life. I have referenced him countless times in this essay and many others. Yes, I am talking about the only person I know that can work for nearly twelve hours, and then still be a cheerful upbeat guy. He is my father, Damion Walker, and he is by far only of the weirdest people I have ever met. That is because he is exactly like me but only a little older and a whole lot wiser. He has had to go through tough times like everybody else, but he never complains and keeps trucking on. He puts our family first, and rarely shows his bad side. Everyone that knows him has the utmost respect for him and the highest praises, and I am a part of this list. I do not think I could do everything he
My Uncle Neal and I were never particularly close. We live in separate states and only meet briefly a couple times a year to exchange a few rather awkward phrases and a quick, tight hug to maintain a masculine relationship. As if a nod to our strange relationship, he liked to present me with obsolete gifts such as a football tee to hold the football I didn’t use or a shirt supporting a team I knew nothing about. That’s why I was surprised then when one Christmas he was eager and giddy to share with me a life-changing encounter he had experienced.
