I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the sunlight sneaking through the curtains of my bedroom window. I rubbed my eyes and attempted to rub the sleep from them. I could not see all too well still since I had not put my glasses on yet. I reached over to the nightstand beside my bed and blindly waved my hand around until it met the cold metal frame of my glasses. I slipped them on to my face and watched as the world became visible within seconds. I wiggled and stretched my toes and rolled my wrists. I had a pain in my left wrist; I assume I slept on it funny. The next thing I grabbed from my nightstand was my cell-phone; I debated checking it for a minute because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be upset this early in the morning. “You know, I bet those girls from your school probably commented something on your pictures again.” Dez was sitting cross-legged at the end of my bed, looking at her nails. “Not right now, Dez. Just give me another five minutes before you start on me today.” I was groaning because I could already feel the negative energy from her seep into the blankets by her body and into my toes. I felt the cold, dark vibrations run up my legs and into my stomach. “Oh come on, Amelia! Check your …show more content…
I could always count on my aunt if I couldn’t talk to my mom. It was like losing your best friend. It has been two years since it all, but I still well up with tears when I think about it. “Amelia!” my mother called from downstairs, “Come downstairs and have some breakfast.” I already had felt the poison from the dart flow through my body. It had taken over and I couldn’t do anything but sit back and watch as the chaos went down. I stumbled out of my bedroom into the dimly lit hallway; as I wandered down the stairs to the kitchen, I could smell the eggs and bacon that my mother had recently cooked. It overflowed my senses and made me slightly

I walked slowly up the walkway to my house, locking the door after. I ran up the stairs to her my and flopped onto my unmade bed. I laid down, stared up and the ceiling and watched the blades of my ceiling fan spin in endless circles as I mentally plotted out how I would spend my weekend of complete freedom. I quickly made up her mind, deciding to spend her evening reading, my favorite pastime. I searched for the softest blanket I could find, made myself a cup of my favorite hot chocolate and settled down on my overstuffed living room couch, looking forward to my lazy evening. As I opened my book, the lights suddenly shut off, leaving me alone in the dark. “That’s odd,” I thought as I set down my mug and walked cautiously into the kitchen, trying and failing to avoid the walls. I began to search for a flashlight, feeling around aimlessly in the darkened drawers. “Ow!” I exclaimed as I cut her hand on a spare key. Finally, my hand landed on the long, cylindrical flashlight hiding in the back of the drawer. I flipped the switch and the bright beam shined on the wooden
In 1973 the world's first cellphone was made. Although the first phone is not anything compared to the latest iphone, it was a huge step back then. When the first mobile phone was made, it was hardly portable and allowed very little talk time. Now phones are smaller than the average human hand and you can talk however long you would like (as long as you have a charger). At first look, the invention of the cell phone can be seen as a huge technological achievement, however once people open their eyes they see how sad it truly is. So many people have lost touch with true communication and the people around them. Even though technology shouldn’t be as involved in our lives as it is, people still see it as an essential to their everyday lives and they are constantly using it.
Have you ever felt like you couldn't do anything right ? You just wanted to just give up, but the quote "Never give up on anyone. And that includes yourself" ran threw your mind. I felt this once when I tried to teach my great auntie how to use her IPhone. I never thought teaching someone how doing something would be so strenuous. She had something to say about everything I told her; "Why I gotta do that ? " How you know about all this stuff ? When you learned how to do all this stuff ?". Just jumping down my throat because she didn't know what she was doing.I wanted to give up spasmodically because she was asking question consequently. How could she have the gall to question anything that I was doing ?
Cellphones have become an important part of our daily lives. They connect us to others and have revolutionized the world we live in from social interaction apps like Tinder to a GPS that will take you wherever one needs to go. One large competitor growing in this industry is Apple. They have reached more than 700 million people worldwide with their product, the iPhone (Tofel 2015): a milestone that may not have been possible without mastering the art of the global supply chain. The path to the creation of the iPhone is not as simple as the phone itself. It requires many pieces which all do not easily come from the same place. Professor Rivoli’s book Travels of a T-Shirt in the Global Economy spoke of the line between passion and reason. Through passion an iPhone was created but at what cost or for what reason? This is about the path taken to create a product that over 700 million people marvel about.

Nightfall had approached. I opened the large double hinged pine window that was perfectly centered in the middle of the guest room and climb into the old brass bed. My head fell into the softness of the pillow, my body stretches releasing all my worries and stresses from the day. The warmth of my grandmother 's hand knitted blanket grasps my body from interacting with the psychical world. I lay there and listen to the sound of the leaves rustling outside the window, and in the distance I can hear my grandfather 's clock “Tick,Tick”. I close my eyes, unable to see the outside world, my mind drifts into a dream world without thought.

I awakened in a cold sweat, breathing tough while clutching the blankets with white knuckles. I quickly glanced from left to right, my heart only beginning to slack after I realized I was awake. Carefully stepping out of bed, still reeling from the frightening movie my brain played while I slept, I peaked toward the door and froze. Something conveyed the impression that something was different regarding my room though I couldn’t put my finger on it. Pulling a blanket around my body, I attempted to block out the frigid air and overcome my shivering. The sun barely peeked through the closed blinds of my window. It was still early dawn.
As I opened my eyes I saw nothing but darkness. It surrounded me, comforted me, and urged me to go back to sleep. Then, I heard my Dad’s voice cutting through the pitch black. “Are you still going?” he asked. I rolled over and let out a sleepy moan. He asked again, “Do you still want to go?” I nodded my head and attempted to arouse my brain. “Alright, if you are sure you want to.” he mumbled apprehensively as he walked out of my room. I closed my eyes and began to drift back to sleep. I caught myself drifting and threw off the mountain of covers I was buried under. The cool air of my room hit me and woke me instantly. My feet hit the ice cold floor and goose bumps appeared instantly on my skin. It was 5:00 a.m. on December
