Personal Narrative: Cell Phones

I opened my eyes and the first thing I saw was the sunlight sneaking through the curtains of my bedroom window. I rubbed my eyes and attempted to rub the sleep from them. I could not see all too well still since I had not put my glasses on yet. I reached over to the nightstand beside my bed and blindly waved my hand around until it met the cold metal frame of my glasses. I slipped them on to my face and watched as the world became visible within seconds. I wiggled and stretched my toes and rolled my wrists. I had a pain in my left wrist; I assume I slept on it funny. The next thing I grabbed from my nightstand was my cell-phone; I debated checking it for a minute because I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be upset this early in the morning. “You know, I bet those girls from your school probably commented something on your pictures again.” Dez was sitting cross-legged at the end of my bed, looking at her nails. “Not right now, Dez. Just give me another five minutes before you start on me today.” I was groaning because I could already feel the negative energy from her seep into the blankets by her body and into my toes. I could always count on my aunt if I couldn’t talk to my mom. It was like losing your best friend. It has been two years since it all, but I still well up with tears when I think about it. “Amelia!” my mother called from downstairs, “Come downstairs and have some breakfast.” I already had felt the poison from the dart flow through my body. It had taken over and I couldn’t do anything but sit back and watch as the chaos went down. I stumbled out of my bedroom into the dimly lit hallway; as I wandered down the stairs to the kitchen, I could smell the eggs and bacon that my mother had recently cooked.
