Personal Narrative-Doll Marriage

My home town, where I grew up at, and where I am at now. These three characters link to the three different houses.

On Monday 6/29/2015 Sgt. Alexander and I was dispatched to the Hostess House located at 6741 Highway 70 in reference to 2 subject, Mr. Burnette and Mr. Jacobs that were renting room 251 and had outstanding warrants.

I make dolls for extra money and to keep busy on empty widowed nights. I never thought of a doll being like my child until Violet.

Kelsey is the most creative person I know. My older sister Kelsey is one of the most important people in my life and I’ve always looked up to her. I was actually surprised when Kelsey said I could interview her, she usually tells me to go ask mom whenever I’m asking her something. After interviewing my sister, I learned a lot about her. Before interviewing her I didn’t know how hard it was for her to get through school, I had no idea it was such a big commitment for her to make. I already knew she loved what she does for a living, just didn’t know how much it meant to her.

Driven by beauty standards, media, and the longing for attention, living dolls have one thing in common: they strive to look flawless and often go through radical lengths to do so. Their near perfect physical image is rare and often catches the eyes of those around them, giving a whole new meaning to the phrase “dolled up”. Like the popular Barbie and Ken dolls, the people of this subculture strive for a certain appearance. “The "living doll" look [typically] incorporates small mouths, tiny waists, curvy hips, perky breasts [for women], and a perfect nose” (Medical Bag, 2014) in addition to large doll-like eyes. and fair skin. These traits though most realistic for Disney princesses, have been considered ideal for a great amount of time. Throughout my life, I always helped people with different issues and tasks they either asked me to do or I was willing to help them. Overtime, I realized that I wanted to do therapy to help people with different and disorders. Recently, after taking a survey about my different interests, I saw a career that I never knew about before called “Family and Marital Therapist.” I skimmed over the information about what they did. And, it dawned on me that, “I can help people with family/problems in their marriage.”

The plan was for Meg, his wife, to wake him when she and Beth left for the movie theatre at five. As his wife was quick to point out if he napped too long he would be up half the night grumbling. So Chad was more than a bit surprised when he rolled out of bed with a groan and saw it was just after six-thirty. He figured Megan must have decided to play the caring spouse and let him sleep while she and Beth were gone. Not a rarity in their marriage but not exactly a common occurrence

My family passed by Build-a-Bear Workshop, and he sat on the top-left corner of the shelf with a glimmer in his eyes that I grew to love. While my parents walked past the store, I strutted towards the place.

Nervously I glanced around the room after 15 minutes of brainstorming on my laptop; No one has yet finished; What a relief both for me and our team. We have to triumph on this one as it leads to more opportunities than ever before. We know that we are close to finding the solution; the perfect algorithm to solve the problem we are given. At that point the room was full of competition, starting from high school students like me to senior university students in a group of four who were racing to crack the obstacle ahead of us. At first it seemed like an impossible task considering we were just getting acquainted both with the concept and one other.

As I lay awake in the hospital bed I can hear them speaking. I can hear them and I can sense them but I can not see them. My body will not move although I try with all my might. Ever since the accident I haven't been able to open my eyes or move my limbs. The doctors don’t realize that I can hear them, that I know exactly what's going on. Every time they come in the room I listen to their banter. One of them is a man and the other is a woman. THe door always squeaks open and they rush in, immediately wondering what hey should do to me next or where they should move me. Today was no exception as they scurried in fast and began their discussion as usual.

I come from an unfortunately disadvantaged background. I grew up in an unstable single parent home, often moving around and missing a lot of school. I have seen drug and alcohol abuse as well as a large amount of death for a nineteen year old. This is not said in an attempt for sympathy, but to explain my unique understanding of the world. I have met many different people, people who have succumbed to their addictions and their circumstances, but also people who have risen above all of the things that worked to keep them down. I have met people from every major ethnic group in the southern United States, including undocumented citizens and DACA recipients. When I went for the interview the girls over there were really friendly and welcoming. A past co-worker of mine from a previous job was working at my current job and she told mw about it. The place that I was the doctor was a mess, awesome doctor but awful as a boss and he had no benefits what so ever. Ever since I was a little kid, I have been building things. I was drawn to my dad’s tools, and the spare wood around the house represented something new. Nearly every day I would go down into the basement, for one reason or another, and see the wood, and the heavy drawers where the tools were kept. Occasionally, my dad would have to make small repairs around the house, the kind that all homeowners make. I loved to watch him do these sort of jobs, and sometimes I would get to hold nails and screws, or keep that plywood sheet in just the right place, so he could hammer it in. I was disappointed that I couldn’t help him more. One day, I changed that.
