Falling On Ice Growing up, I never really was the athletic type. I would occasionally ride my bike outside with the neighbor kids or participate in dodgeball in the gym at school, but I definitely had no athletic ability. There were many other great things I was interested in, none of which being sports, or anything that took any sort of coordination. In fifth grade, I had a little accident that proved to me I am not the type of person for sports. One day, my best friend Gaby began passing out invitations to her birthday party. I always enjoyed picking gifts out for my friends and attending their birthday parties. I was so excited, that I ripped open the envelope the invitation was encased in only to realize the Birthday party included ice skating. I had never been ice skating before, and I could hardly skate on a regular skating rink, let alone balance on top of ice. I was super nervous to skate on the ice for the first time mostly because I knew how dangerous it is. There were actually about 50,000 ice skating incidents recorded in the year 2015. (Dodson) I was excited to have time to hang out with my friends, but I was terrified to try something new like ice skating in front of everyone, with the possibility of failing horribly.
The day of the Birthday party finally came around, and my aunt and uncle took me. On the way to the ice rink, I was super nervous but still excited. When I finally arrived, I walked in and greeted all of my friends who were already there. We
Besides soccer, sledding is something my sister and I love to do on snowy afternoons. We have this amazing hill at our house thats super steep and has lots on turns; its the perfect sledding hill. The only problem with it is that at the end of the hill there is a road. My father didn’t want us sledding on the hill until he could put a fence up to keep us from sliding into the middle of the road.
Playing in the snow during the winter is most kids favorite thing about winter other than getting toys during the holidays. I know as a kid I enjoyed it and I know the dangers of it but they never crossed my mind as I was having fun. For most nothing ever happens to them wasn't one of those kids. As a kid every winter Zack and I would always play in the snow at my Mom’s, Dad’s, Nan’s, or anywhere else.
Instead of writing about which sport or activity that meant the most to me, I am going to share the reason why I didn’t play sports in high school. I am part of a church called The Apostolic Christian Church. One of things we do when we join the church is to separate ourselves from the worldly environment and one of the ways we do this is not participating in sports. The reason for this is to work on being a humble example. When playing sports or even watching sports we tend to lean toward a proud spirit. Some examples are booing the other team, or even cheering on your team saying they are the best. This has helped shaped my life in the way of focusing on things that are more important to me like my religion, family,
Every year when it was my birthday, my parents would invite around 20 people to come to our house and celebrate my birthday with me. They would invite family and friends. Most of family moved to America when I was around seven. My Mom made very delicious cakes for my birthdays. My friends loved my birthday cakes. For food, we would buy burgers. When the party was over my friends would stay at my house and we would have a sleepover. During our sleepover we told each other many funny jokes and ate all the leftover cakes and
Sports have been a huge part of my life ever since I was about five years old. It has impacted my life so much. The biggest challenge that I faced was with my injuries during basketball and soccer season. I recently had to quit soccer and basketball, which was difficult for me.
Beep! Beep! Beep! I wake up to an alarm screaming in my ear. I smack the alarm to shut the yelling off. It was a January day, in the middle of the cold, brutal winter. I finally got up after sitting in bed for what felt like hours, and looked outside like I do every morning. I noticed that there was no sign of grass to be seen. All that could be seen was white, frozen blanket of thick snow. I started to get ready for the school day and I just prayed that school was going to be canceled. As soon as I was fully ready I stepped outside and my food sunk down a foot and a half below the snow! I could not believe it that school was still open. As soon as I got to my car that was completely covered in snow, my mother comes out and yells that school was closed. I felt a huge wave as release and I ran back inside and went right back to sleep.
Ever since I was young I have been the athletic girl in my grade. I played every sport
After a careful overview of the story, the readers understands that the author point is that in some situations, people should do the nice thing and sacrifice themselves to help others. In the story, “What Happened During the Ice storm” the author uses a mysterious, bittersweet tone, “They stood over the pheasants, turning their own heads, looking at each other each expecting the other to do something” (Heynen 1). The author uses this line to show that any other person would not even stop to think; that any other person would immediately attack. However, putting these lines in the story makes the reader notice how the boys took the time to stop and think
If I was trapped in a snow globe I would play in the snow. I would try to make the best of it. Then, I would try to figure out how to get out. I would bang on the glass. Maybe if I scream the glass would break. No, that wouldn't work I can't scream loud enough. But, if I dig alot I might find a way. Seven hours later……. There is no use. I’m kinda getting hungry and I don't see any food. As I’m trying to get out I see this huge person picks up the globe and starts shaking. I hold onto the tree for dear life while he is shaking the globe. Finally he puts it down. That's the story of when I got stuck in a snow
Sports came natural to me it helped me forget about the outside world and focus on the game itself. After playing sports for so long I had my fair share of injuries specifically mild concussions or rolled ankles. Every time there was an athletic trainer putting me back together. So I began to think of all the possibilities for a career. I combined the two which is a wonderful choice for me.
Currently I am in cross country, basketball, and track, but I have done many other sports in the past. I joined the cross country team in 8th grade in hopes of finding a new passion. I fell in love with running and decided to join the track team that same year. Basketball is a different story; I joined in 3rd grade just because my parents signed me up as most sports go when you're younger, and I struggled greatly with learning and understanding the game. I spent long summers training in my yard trying to get better. This determination helped me significantly when it became time for tryouts, as I ended up making the higher team. To this day I still have a lot of determination when it comes to sports and most things in
Ever since I was little I p;ayed sports. People always told me I was goung to make it big. I was good at everysport lole ait was in my blood. My body is built to play sports. A lot of people say im athletic and I agree.
Sports have always been a major part of my life. Since the beginning, I have always been involved in some type of sport. I am the middle child of two boys, so i wasn’t exactly “girly”, I was mainly considered a “tomboy.” I tried gymnastics, but it just wasn’t my thing, I stuck to a bat and a ball. Growing up there wasn’t a time when you wouldn’t find my brothers and I, or my dad and I outside throwing pitch. We all played baseball/softball, so it was kinda our thing just to go out and play a game of wiffle ball.
My entire family is an athletic family, everyone did or does sports. However, I never really enjoyed sports to the extent that my family did. I tried to find something I had a passion for, but didn't really find anything until I was in 5th grade. A time that I was open to growth was my entire time in Phoenix Boys Choir.
It was my 5th birthday party and I was super excited. It was at my grandparent’s house. We rented a bounce house and my grandma did face painting because she is a magnificent artist. All of my friends and family were there and it was a great birthday. One thing that I still remember is that there was a bee in the bounce house and all of the kids were
