After too much eating, laughing and riding all the thrilling rides, the Colorado River Fair has come to an end. Although the funnel cakes were sprinkled with showers of powdered sugar, the cinnamon rolls came with extra frosting, candy apples weren’t too hard to bite into, the cotton candy was extra soft, the carnival rides took many for a loop-the-loop and the animals were gorgeously groomed for both showmanship and auction, just like all good things, it went away too soon. Receiving numerous amount of feedback from the Times’ Facebook post to lucky Blytheonians who were fortunate enough to receive free tickets to the fair, a compilation of the some of the comments of what you all said you enjoyed most about the fair, your family traditions and how many …show more content…
Lois Shaffer: “Seeing people you haven't seen since the last year's fair!” “Our family tradition is taking a family portrait at the photo booth. It’s always nice to have memories of every year especially seeing how my kids look so different every year,” Belen D Rodriguez said. Judy Schuster: “My favorite fair tradition is watching the livestock judging and auction. This year I get to watch third generation livestock participants in my grandson as he continues something that began with my brothers and I over 4 decades ago.” [I] love the barn and all of the animals that the kids work with and watching all the livestock shows with all the kids showing animals. By far the best attraction at the fair,” Derek Copple said. Amber Barnes: “Waiting until the fair is closing down to get cinnamon rolls, promising yourself to wait until you get home to eat them then promptly eating half of one when you get into the car.” Then the times asked, how many hours do you or your family typically spend at the fair? Angelica Guerra said, “as many hours as my kids will want to stay. It's only once a year.” Whereas, Lori Diane Scott said they spend all 4 days for at least 6 hours each
There are a few sights and sounds that an individual will experience at the Fair. When he or she first arrive, they will see the rides with their bright, colorful lights flashing and hear the rides creak and whiz by as they are walking through the gate. A person can hear the excitement in the screaming, laughter, and the crying little boy who is upset because he could not knock the milk bottles over. As he or she are walking, they can see a large crowd and while they are passing through, they can catch snippets of each conversation
The first criteria for a fun trip to the fair is that it must bring us as friends closer to one another. This is so important because if you don’t grow closer to each other it doesn’t develop your friendships. If we become closer, it makes the trip even
Is it humane to show at the county fair? Is it worse that kids in 4-H are making money for showing off projects that are actually animals with their own rights to live free? It is not inhumane for kids to show and sell animals at the county fair because those kids are learning what farming is like in that aspect. They are also working with those animals for very long periods of time to get them to learn to do what the child wants them to do. The animals are also known as projects because the kids are doing book work and learning about the animal as a learning tool. The money the kids make from showing and selling these animals is just a reward for all of the hard work these kids put into teaching the animals to do what the kids want them to do. It is also to try to get them to stay in 4-H because as long as they are in 4-H or FFA the kids are learning to work and become productive citizens later in life.
The Colorado River Fair, as part of the network of California fairs, provides an enormous return on investment both economically and socially. Fairs celebrate the town’s history and heritage. They are an educational opportunity for youth and provide wholesome entertainment for families. Four-H and FFA programs support California’s vibrant agriculture sector. Community members of all ages enter their artwork, baked goods, photography and other homemade products in pursuit of coveted blue ribbons. Many non-profit and charity-based organizations participate in activities at the fair.
The fair was a marvel of construction, planning and architecture for the day. Never had anything on that scale, in the time frame that was given, been attempted. In around 2 years, the builders terraformed a piece of blasted wasteland into the finished product. They built massive buildings on ground that was basically quicksand before they started. Olmstead landscaped the whole site, with construction going on, in a period of months. The construction effort suffered many setbacks and disasters, with the wind and rain destroying many buildings as they were being built. They built the fair in these trying conditions, with labor problems, it was a miracle.
Since its establishment in 1886, “the State Fair of Texas has celebrated all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment.” (“2016 Guide” 6). The Texas State Fair is a staple of Texas tradition and even became a historical landmark in 1986. The fair is known for its signature 55ft figurehead Big Tex. He greets his guests with a signature “howdy y’all” while sporting some of the fair’s sponsors like Dickies and Chevrolet. The fair seeks to embody the spirit and uniqueness of Texas. It does this by celebrating its four core values of tradition, agriculture, education and community. The fair serves as a non-profit organization that strives to educate and raise money for each of these standards.
None of my family have ever showed before me and my brother, he only showed one year but he was the one that got me into the fair and showing. I had to be in a club to show cattle so i joined 4-h and that has been A ever big part in my life because i could never have done the fair without 4-h.

The people that come to the fair come from all walks of life and the various events provide something for everyone.
This is my first year showing an animal at the fair ,but I am excited to continue growing with the many experiences to come in the following years. I have gained knowledge from how to properly fit and groom in addition to learning about responsibility, time management, public speaking, and keeping records of my expenses , hours and income. On top of that, I also learned volumes about how the FFA works and what its real purpose is. The FFA isn’t
We’re driving my dad’s rusted out maroon 1978 Chevy pick-up with our livestock trailer behind it. Down Highway 20, we’re are headed to my favorite place in the world during the summer, the Sac County Fair. The trailer is full of my two older sister’s cattle that they will show at the fair this Saturday. Every year, the last week of July, we do the same routine over and over and I’m still not sick of it.
The Newbridge County Fair takes place in March for ten days and during those ten days the fair is packed. Everyone looks forward to the fair all year and when it does come around everyone goes as much as possible. At the fair, there is carnival rides and roller coasters, amazing food, and live music and entertainment. The fair has something for everyone and many families get passes for several days. Teenagers in particular, love the fair and go together in groups after school or on the weekend. I often go to the fair with friends on the weekend and we hang out there all day. Of course, no fair experience is ever finished without taking home a bag of delicious cotton candy and so pretty much all families get at least
Although eighteen days can seem like a long time to live at a fair, the time truly flies by. Each day there are new audiences and new memories to be made, then, in two short weeks, it’s time to head home.
As the 56th Annual Henderson County Livestock Show [HCLS] rolled around the corner this year, I was not expecting to have the honor of becoming
One reason for this is because their are many competitions the state fair for the biggest or best livestock which brings in many farmers. The reason why these competitions bring so many farmers to the State Fair is because there are so many of them in the rural areas of minnesota which leads to more livestock. The farmers bring their livestock to the fair because they want to win the competitions. Another reason why the livestock bring people to the fair is for the sheer reason that people just want to see the animals. The Minnesota State Fair has so many types of livestock and a lot of each kind so it makes it really interesting to look at all the animals. It also has a birthing center where you can see livestock giving birth to babies. In conclusion, the livestock at the State Fair is a big reason to why thousands of people visit it each
My second and third visits took place on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday evening was similar to what I had experienced before, but everyone was distracted by all of the other games and activities which were occurring simultaneously. Therefore, I only conducted a couple of activities such as the beginnings of our stories "Oh, The Places I'll Go!" It was during this visit that I was also able to introduce some of the children to my baby goats and to some dairy cows through pictures. Many of the children had never been near farm aniamls before, and even though they could not pet the picture, I think they enjoyed listening to my experiences. Since my
