Up next……Glaciers and lakes! I’ll rent a car for the four-day trip in the Rocky Mountains. For traveling the Rockies, driving by ourselves would be the best because we can frequently make short stops anywhere we like for a drink, or to see the views along the road, explore deeply into the trails. Or just simply hanging out will already be nice enough. Mother Nature’s masterpiece will take our breath away. The lakes are so pure just like priceless jewels that drive away all my headaches and bring back the piece of quietness to my mindLike glaciers taking millions of years to fill a lake, my parents have taken all of their efforts to bring me up from an innocent child to a man. I love the names Victoria Glacier and Lake Louise. Victoria Glacier
The Colorado Rocky Mountains are claimed to be one of the most intriguing and adventurous lands to visit nationally and globally. Primarily, the Rocky mountains are most visited for the skiing resorts, aside from the many other activities and locations to visit. I will persuade the audience what I believe an ideal weekend trip or vacation would be, and the steps and guidelines in making the vacation possible. The locations being covered would be some of the biggest attractions in the Colorado Rocky Mountains: the ski resorts. Some resorts credited with being the best that the Rockys can bring to a particular individual or group of people are: Keystone resort, Aspen, Loveland, Breckenridge, Ski Cooper. Although these are only a few of the locations the Colorado Rockies have to offer there are plenty more, thus I
Beep! Beep! Beep! I wake up to an alarm screaming in my ear. I smack the alarm to shut the yelling off. It was a January day, in the middle of the cold, brutal winter. I finally got up after sitting in bed for what felt like hours, and looked outside like I do every morning. I noticed that there was no sign of grass to be seen. All that could be seen was white, frozen blanket of thick snow. I started to get ready for the school day and I just prayed that school was going to be canceled. As soon as I was fully ready I stepped outside and my food sunk down a foot and a half below the snow! I could not believe it that school was still open. As soon as I got to my car that was completely covered in snow, my mother comes out and yells that school was closed. I felt a huge wave as release and I ran back inside and went right back to sleep.
As many people hear the word glacier they immediately think about the Titanic and how it sank because it ran into a glacier. What many people do not know is the history of glaciers. There are a couple different types of glaciers, for instance the type that the titanic ran into is a Tidewater glacier, which is a glacier that flows in the sea. There are also alpine glaciers which are glaciers that are found in the mountains, and there are Continental glaciers which are associated with the ice ages, and that covers most of the contnents at one time; including Indiana. Glacier ice is the largest amount of fresh water in the world only second to the oceans as the largest reservoir of water total. Glaciers are found on every
On a cold Thursday morning, school was in session but I was starting on my way to Lake Winnibigoshish. I was going up there with my five foot nine, one hundred forty pound dad and my five foot nine, two hundred thirty pound neighbor. We stopped in at the Senior Center for some donuts, and went to Holiday Gas Station for some coffee and a cold drink.
Red Lake Ontario a place that I’ve been But only in my dreams in the last year and ten It’s always been with the boys, mainly my son I invite you into my dreams because you’re my special one. The cabin on the hill faces north over the lake But as the sun set down theres not even a wake
My preschool years I started off at a school called Lake Rim in Hope Mills, North Carolina. My teacher's name was Mrs.Keller and we were all little kids so we thought she was scary because her name was so close to killer. By the second day we realized that she was a very compassionate and nice teacher after giving us candy for every math problem we got right. I didn't go to Lake Rim for long because I think we were two months into the school year and as I was getting out of the reading tub one day a kid named Jermaine. He had just got done at the math section before running across the classroom screaming and as I turned around to get out of the tub he superman kicked me in the face and I flew back into the tub. Mrs.Keller quickly came over to see if I was alright and took me to the guidance office because I had a bloody nose and a boot mark on my face.
It was a hot summer day on Lake Logan Martin, perfect for taking out the jet skis with my best friend Jake. We were showing off and trying to impress some hot girls on a pontoon when all the sudden, Jakes jet ski went flying upside down through the air like a drunk pelican. Before I knew it, all I could see was the bright orange and yellow colors of his jet ski zooming by my head, and Jake hit the water head first causing water to splash all over my face. I rushed over to where his jet ski landed and I was sure he was dead. I dove into the lake and grabbed him, he felt lifeless as I drug him to the surface. A patrol boat sped up to us and helped pull him on the boat. Thankfully he just suffered from a broken clavicle and a broken arm but it
When I was little, my grandfather taught me how to swim. I remember the time we were
I have been in the now disturbing Quetico lake for the last 12 years of my life. I can’t take this. I have one way out, and that is to get someone in, trapped. I am captured in the deepest part of the Quetico lake, 300 feet below, I have gone mental. Around every month someone passes and I restrain myself from knocking, pleading for help. The only way I can get out is if I knock on a boat that passes and put them in my place. I never wanted too, for twelve years I haven’t. I know they will be trapped with a terrible way to escape. It will mess with their mind, but I could not take the pain of going insane. I was stuck...until now.
Just this past summer, under the hot, and sticky sun, we pushed our car to the limit, on our 1,000 mile journey to the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, although in actuality we might have pushed our fears to the absolute limit. Flipping through the Colorado vacation brochure proved to have posed some interesting vacation destinations, such as "Big Bear Lake" and Trail Ridge Road. With the intent to get high in the sky, our family headed out the next morning to Trail Ridge Road, which is a road that takes you up to a staggering height of 12,000 feet. Although optimistic, we imagined of the vast fields of green, the glacier-topped mountains, and the valleys that undertake the them. As we climbed up to the peak, it seemed apparent that there
Snow skiing. The first day learning to ski is rough for almost anyone you ask. The day before my first ski trip, I could not help but wonder. Was I going to fall on my butt? Would I fall flat on my face? Would I make a fool out of myself? These were all questions that I knew I would soon get answers to. I had built up such intense feelings of nervousness and excitement that I could hardly tell the difference. All I wanted was to make it out alive.
My family drives everywhere so the summer of 2015, we began our long trek north. On the way, my family stopped at many famous areas like the Badlands in South Dakota and other areas. My family arrived at a lake called Lake Sylvan hoping to relax for a bit and soak in the sunshine, while I made plans to explore.
Mauri Pelto, a glaciologist, studied a glacier on Mount Baker, in Washington State. The glaciers are melting, as the planet becomes warmer. “At the rate it is losing mass, it won’t make it 50 years,” said Pelto. Glaciers from Mount Baker and the North Cascades are getting smaller. Over the past thirty years, seven glaciers have melted. An estimate was made that the 116 glaciers that they studied in Alaska have lost a total of 75 billion metric tons of ice. There were 150 glaciers in Glacier National Park in 1850. Now, there are only 25."They are losing volume at a faster rate than ever before," Pelto said. "If you cannot sustain a glacier at a place like this in the Lower 48 states, there is no hope."
I have to walk out of my dorm and down two flights of stairs just to get outside. Then, I make a right towards the arch in Friley to walk down another flight of stairs, and lastly I’ll head towards Welch Ave. to arrive at Lake Laverne.
My friends and I love the great outdoors, therefore wanted to have fun and have a great adventure together before we became older, afterward we thought of the great idea of going to the “Rockies”. By
