Ethics are what I believe are the foundations of human life. These principles guide us as we grow into adults and throughout the course of our lives. I personally believe that in general, everyone was born with the will to be and do good. No one is born to hate or do evil upon themselves or others. I believe they are taught that and grew up around instances that had influenced them.
People can also be influenced to be even more good than what they were born to be. Also, religion is something that can help greatly shape people’s ethics and mannerisms. For me, religion and spirituality are the two most influential concepts that I have experienced. I am Christian Baptist, and being saved is the best thing that has ever happened to me, atheism
Since I was born, I have lived in a religious household, gone through catholic education, and have been bred by the morals, attitude, and rules of a Roman Catholic lifestyle. This was not my choice, but how I was raised. These ways have shaped who I have become, and who I will grow to be. Although my catholic experience has been bad at times, it has formed who I am as a person and has been a guideline for the life I would like to live.
Church, temple, sanctuary, or the Lords’s house, these are just a few names that your average person might call the place you come to worship God, I have always called it home. The Church I have been attending, Memorial Baptist Church, which is also where I attend high school, I have been attending since I was the age of three years old. Moving to the area that my family lives in now, I do not believe is any accident. At the age of two years old, my father was stationed in Tennessee for the military. After passing away from brain cancer, my Mother moved my two older sisters and me to Killeen Texas, to be closer to her family. Memorial Baptist Church was the only church we have ever been members of since moving to Texas, it has always felt like
I go to Mt. Zion Baptist Church. I’m on the praise team and today, we are having an affable concert. We are inviting all churches in Albany and surrounding towns to come and revere with us. My sister is also on the praise team. She is having an indolence attitude. She says she doesn’t want to go even though she committed to earlier this month. As her sister and captain of the pre team, I encouraged her to come along. The whole way to the church she was being desecrate.
For many years, I have worked in ministry as a support ministry member. In 1993-1997, I served as Administrator at Beacon Light Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Darryl S. Bister. I was responsible for all of his appointments, drafting of documents, and overseer of additional staff members and responsible for the day to day operations. In 1997, I was called to Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church with my husband under Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr. I served in many capacities in this ministry from worship leader to Administrator to the Registrar for Greater St. Stephens School of Ministry. My husband along with our 3 children was then called to Denver, Colorado to serve at Heritage Christian Center under Bishop Dennis Leonard. We serve in that ministry
I attend Gospel Light Freewill Independent Baptist Church in Thomasville, NC. It’s a relatively small church, with about 50-70 people on a Sunday morning. My grandmother, my aunt, and my uncle attend this church as well. I consider myself to be a child of God and a true “born again” Christian. Being “born again” means that one has accepted God into their heart and has been changed on the inside. I accepted him into my heart on October 9th, 2012. Growing up strictly in an independent Baptist church, I didn’t know that other churches were different, at least not until I visited my boyfriend’s church which is Southern Baptist. My pastor preaches heavily on hell-fire and brimstone. He walks up and down the altar, yelling and jumping. There are
I’m a Mormon. I Believe in marriage in the LDS Temple. I Believe I pay 10 percent of my earnings to the church also known as tithing. I Believe in being that I must get baptized at the age of 8, but if you were converted to the church, you can be older. I Believe that I am a Latter day saint of the church of Jesus Christ, but there is a lot of history to us, to make us form who we are today. For example, Brigham Young. He is one of the most important people to us. He helped make “The Book of Mormon.” He was also a apostle, he was also a prophet, a dad, a husband, and a bishop. But most importantly, he traveled from Salt Lake City, Utah, to all over NM, to Nauvoo, Illinois. He brought many Mormons, to basically make the city of Nauvoo, they
To many people, their community is a place where they call home, a place where they know they can go and feel like there self. It can also become their identity what they stand for.The can also call it their family. Somewhere can they can talk and form friendships. The way I came into the Baptist community is because I was raised into it so therefore, I fit best into the Baptist community by helping in outside events, being passionate and practicing the religion.
I became a Christian in 1982 while in high school. I had never attended church prior to Easter 1982. I found something interesting in the whole of the service and decided to read a Bible. The Bible made some sense to me. I had a few questions about some of the stuff that had happened and was given Evidence that Demands a Verdict by Josh McDowell. Well that answered most of my questions. I was also given Mere Christianity which answered more questions. I felt convicted by the Holy Spirit and asked G-d to come into my life and forgive me of my sins.
Sure Pastor. I love the idea of a church wide time for revival. The back the school bash is that same week. Would it be possible to use one of those nights for the bash and the other two nights for the revival? This will minimize cost and effort. Also, Can I let the committee ( Bridgette, Natalie, Delphine, Nette, and Savanah) know to reschedule the groups that are coming to August?
Reading was very diffuclt to me. The pronouncing and putting two-three letters together was discouraging. “Th” or “et”, made me feel like I was illiteric.
Growing up in a Christian home was nothing extraordinary. My father volunteered at my church and was very connected with the community, while I went to the kid service every Sunday. About four years ago the church we had gone to for my entire life shut down. Loosing that church was a tough experience because the church was like my second family.
Growing up in a devout Christian family with a father who is an extreme right on the political scale was tough for me. I went to church 3 times a week and when I came home from my private Christian school I was to read the Bible for homework. I felt as if this life was being force upon me and I begged my mother for months if I could go to a public school. My wish was granted and in 8th grade I went to my local public middle school, and I was amazed, completely astounded at what school could be.
In today’s society, the way an individual defines how they earn their livelihood is generally described as their work, career, profession, or job. Often times, the word hustle, or grind is used to describe a person’s work. Even the term vocation was established among the theologians, Luther and Calvin, during the Reformation, it’s rare that one would hear a pastor describe his work as his or her vocation. Perhaps they find it easier to say what they are instead of what they do, i.e., “I am the pastor at XYZ church”. An individuals work, job, profession or career is anything that person does to occupy their time and exhaust their energies and creativity on a regular weekly basis to a business or corporation in exchange for a desired pay
Have you ever really thought and pondered if there was a higher up power? Let me start off by saying I
Interviewing several pastors can be eye opening in that you will begin to see different character qualities, disciplines and where they are in their spiritual journey. My intention was to interview several pastors, however, I was unable to obtain the responses needed to complete a study such as that. I did get to meet with one pastor, and I believe that it was truly difficult for him to answer most of the questions even after giving him some time to think about each question. My interview was with a very intelligent and spiritual man named Les Harvey. He is currently serving at the Church of the Highlands Greystone campus under many great leaders.
