I believe in my dog. We named my dog Bear. Four years ago,our family decided to get a dog. We weren’t sure what kind of dog to get, but we knew we wanted one. We knew we wanted a small dog that could stay in our house with us and be a good companion and friend.
A friend of my Dad’s was taking care of a puppy that his elderly neighbor could not take care of anymore, but he already had 2 dogs. He knew we were looking for a dog, so he asked my Dad if we wanted it. Of course we said yes when we met the three month old dachshund.
Now that my family had a new dog we needed to come up with a name that everyone agreed on. We decided on Bear because he was ferocious when he played with his stuffed animal toys. He would grab the animal
as we packed our stuff, I saw a dog come up to us and beg for food, so we fed him and we went to the wagon. as we were going the dog decided to follow us! My Father then picked him up and put him in our wagon.
Four years ago I finally got the dog I’ve always wanted. We got her at the Oshkosh Humane Society. There were two other families that wanted her,but they picked us to adopt her!
Walking up to the shelter only to find that the dog we wanted is being taken home by another family, we thought we wouldn't be getting a dog today. But when we found her, we were glad that the other dog was taken. Her black, slicked back fur shedding off of her perfect dog body. Her black beady eyes are bulging out of her head with the look of excitement. Unable to hold herself back she breaks the leash that the vet was trying to hold her back with. Running to us, she slips and falls on her head. We don’t have a second to worry because she jumps up and starts licking our faces with her slobbery tongue. By the time she is tired from licking our faces, we feel as if we just went swimming in a pool of melting jello
About two years ago my sister had taken in a dog named Morgan. At first I didn’t exactly agree with this because she already had a dog that she hardly took care of. When my sister brought Morgan home she was about two months old. I could still hold her in on had. And as I spent more time with her, she became my baby.
In addition to this, weeks later, I found myself at a shelter looking for a dog. As I walked down the hallway I saw this dog that popped out at me. He was so little, dark brown, big bold brown eyes, and all white paws, sitting there looking at me waging his tail. He even resembled a dog I had in the past. So I asked the lady to see him. When she brought him out we played and had a great bond like I have never experienced with any of my dogs. My family was also at ease because he was the only puppy to interact without
She was a lot of fun to play with and she was very energetic. We did not get her that day, but the employees told us that the dog we were interested in was going to be at Petsmart the next day. We went to Petsmart and we were going to make the final decision if we were going to get her. My sister and I really wanted her but my dad was hesitant about the idea of getting her. He did not know if we were ready for another dog. My sister and I really wanted her so we exclaimed “ we will do everything to take care of the dog!”
In 2010 both of my dogs, Daisy and Cody died in December. My family and I were mournful about our two dog’s death ,so we decided to get a puppy. Our family looked on a website to find puppies and we found a lot of dogs we liked. My mother liked a two year old dog named Chester ,but I liked a three year old Pug named Scooter. Finally, my family found a Saint Bernard named Ollie that we absolutely fell in love with.
Growing up, my Grandparents had a Golden Retriever named Chief. Although he wasn’t really all that golden, he was more a rich copper red color. As kind and as fluffy as he was we were best friends from the beginning. Even after I got my own dog I was still infatuated with him. One Thanksgiving when I was around five we were at my Grandparents house. I played with him outside until my Mom hollered “Elizabeth! Time for dinner!” When we finally sat down for dinner, Chief was at my feet under the table and I snuck him food when the adults weren’t looking. After dinner, my Grandpa, brother and I went on a walk with Chief. Before we left I begged and begged for my Grandpa to let me hold the leash by myself. He finally said “ how’s this for a compromise, I’ll attach two leashes so both you and your brother can hold him.” I reluctantly agreed.
I always used to say “That’s just a dog” but I never realized how wrong that term actually was. I never realized how much one dog would unquestionably change my life. I begged my husband Paul for years to let me but a dog, but he was not having it, he just did not want the responsibility of a dog. This left me feeling upset and wanting more in my life. He didn’t honestly know how much we needed to have this dog in our lives. He changed our lives, who would have thought a dog would change your life?
We grew up together, this bond that we shared made me fall in love with dogs even more. My grandpa breed German Shepherds, making me want to raise puppies too. My parents finally gave in and got me a female so we could have puppies. We had two sets of puppies and I loved
It was the 11th of January and we were going to get a new dog. The road has ice, snow and sleet. I had a headache and I was really tired. It was cold, cloudy, and bright. The ride was like a 4 hour ride because I slept through the whole thing and it was awesome. When I woke it we were still not there. So my mom, brother and I all played car games. When we got there it was loud and it made my head hurt even more than it did before. It was wet and really icy so I had to crawl. My mom asked “What are you doing on the ground.” I said “Crawling so I don’t fall on my butt or my side like I always do. When we went in we saw Peanut. The women said “The reason he has bad back legs is because he was at a puppy mill.” He was funny because he was slipping
A few months ago, my family was without a pet. Now, we have a sweet little puppy named Nellie. The day we got our dog was definitely a memorable one! It was an early morning at the Family Life No Kill Dog Shelter. Since the adoption process was first come first serve, we got there before the shelter opened and signed a little sheet on the outside of the door. On the sheet we were instructed to write our name and the dog we would like to meet and maybe adopt. Lots of people were outside, waiting in anticipation to meet the dogs. After the shelter opened, it was probably another hours wait until we could meet Nellie. Finally, our name was called. We followed an employee into a small room and told her we’re here to meet Nellie. The employee
I have two fur babies; Behr who is 5 human years, and Bella, she is 2 human years. My husband and I adopted Behr at Petsmart when he was only 6 weeks old, just a tiny baby. The employees told us that they found him and five of his brothers and sisters in a box in front of the store that morning. He was the only one left out of the five, and I remember the moment I saw
When I was twenty-two years old, I answered an advertisement in the paper for free Labrador puppies. Driving up to the house, I saw all the little critters running around and having a ball of a time. I got into the pen with the pups, and finally decided on the shy runt who spent the majority of his time hiding under a board. I loved his personality and instantly
