The crowd was in uproar we had won our first home game of the season. A clean victory that I felt a part of after putting in the grueling hours at practice throughout the week. After our coach congratulated us on the victory and gave us a few words of wisdom my teammates and I headed to the locker rooms to change after a hard fought battle. As we got to the locker room the musk of the locker room began to fill my nose to the brim. Hard work and victory smelt like moldy chinese food left out in the heat. As I started to slide out of my sweaty gear, soaked to its core, surrounded by my exhausted, ecstatic teammates I could feel the fear starting to creep in. I continued to strip down as some of the guys began to hop into the showers. “well shit I better get out of …show more content…
“What,” I replied, missing his previous point, while I stood muddled in my thoughts. Jesse answered,“Into the showers before the captains come. You don’t wanna get stuck here when they get inside,”clearly annoyed with my lack of attention but willing to still warn me.In that moment, I froze. How could I possibly go in there? The idea was horrifying, but if I didn’t step up now I’d be forced into my fear later. “It can’t be that bad, right,” I thought to myself. I made a few quick glances around me, worried sick to my stomach that someone was watching me, as I slid out of my compression shorts and grabbed my towel. I turned to go in and took one step, then another and another until i felt the cold tile against my feet Looking only at the ground, I turned the handle to let the water rush out. The scalding water sprung out of the shower head and cascaded over me, sizzling as each droplet landed on my skin. Each droplet one by one burning the fear within me to a crisp. What seemed like a massive fear shrunk down into a little pebble. I stepped out of the showers, dried off, packed up my equipment and headed home just like it was any other
“You’re gonna run until I puke”! Said coach as me and the rest of the team stood in front of him.We were in trouble for leaving the locker room a mess after practice one day after coach said not to.
Walking out onto the opponent’s brightly lit turf field setting up for the kickoff of the second half just gave me the feeling that everybody knows, my hair starts to stand up, butterflies began to flutter in my stomach, and everything seems to slow down. Looking into the stands and seeing that our hometown fans had traveled four hours in order to outdo the home crowd gave me a sense of comfort. Looking into East Jefferson’s stands and seeing that our fans, despite having to travel all the way down south, outnumbered their fans by at least 70 people. I found myself thinking that this meant just as much to our town as it did to our school and team. This feeling would be just the motivation we needed in order to finish this game
The excitement and happiness are what we wanted to feel when hopefully lifting up a trophy. We needed to prove that not one person can talk down about us without there being a consequence. Every day for hours we pushed ourselves and each other. We became stronger individually and as a team. It was time for preseason, and this is where we must justify our position in our division. We played in one of the hardest group divisions in the whole country, which was exceptional because that left no room for failure, it just left room for us to
At the beginning of the game I got to go on the field with my family and support my brother in his senior night as a film crew member. While I was down there waiting for the presentation I got to watch the game from the sidelines which was an amazing experience for me. Then the presentation started and we got to be shown on the jumbotron for my brother’s recognition. Once we were done with
“Party at my house after the game!” I told my teammates jokingly as we got in position for what would be our last game of the season. All my teammates laughed. I felt almost as if the championship was guaranteed and all we had to do was kick the ball around for 90 minutes before collecting the trophy. “Whoot” the whistle blew, signifying the beginning of the game.
I heard the whistle blow from our field, which meant the last game had concluded. I knew it was time to play the biggest game of my life. All I wanted was for our team to win. I wanted to win.
My new responsibitly that I had to get down was getting into my locker. I moved from elementry to middle school so now I have a locker. The first day of school I could not get it down. So I was late to class. After second period I finially got it down on my own. The first few weeks were hard but finially got easy. I few months had passed now and my locker looked like a tornado had went through it. So one time in between class i got everything out of my locker and cleaned it . it then looked good and was ready for my next class but although i was late.
When the final whistle blew, the atmosphere was at its peak in excitement and relief: the Spartans had won their first game of the season, and finishing on a strong note.
I heard the lights flicker from the flashes and the camera’s shutter from the snapping of the photos as I came out of the locker room. My name was constantly shouted throughout the crowd, and the microphones from the reporters appeared closer and closer to my face.
It was another day in the monotonous schedule of McGill Toolen Catholic High School. I was stuck in the smallest classroom in the world and longed to leave. The bell rang out, signaling my journey to the next teacher, the mighty, stereotypically dressed Coach Thompson. Upon my arrival to the locker room, I was assigned one objective, change out. I performed what I was told in the largest and well-maintained locker room in America. “Alright, let’s go!” Coach Thompson’s deafening voice boomed throughout the luxurious locker room.
Just like any other game day, I drive to school and make sure I have all my uniforms and gloves, and load up on to the bus with my 20 best friends and hit the road. The day was perfect, in a way that was cloudy and a little breeze coming in, the game was in Georgetown and we had cancelled school, which means the entire town was coming to watch us play the most important game of our lives. So of course I was a mess of emotions, but that thirty minute bus ride was the best one yet, we were all getting in our own little game time zones but at the same time enjoying the moment and realizing we had made it to State. We hadn’t realized that we were making Salado history for soccer, we were just playing the sport we loved with the people who loved
It was time to take the group photo with our trophy. The team gathered in rows and smiled. We took one holding up a one for first place and then with a double U for the win. Then the fan section surrounded us for a group photo. After we took individual photos and the crowd calmed down, we loaded the bus to return to Eureka in victory. We were escorted
The team was ready, we had been working extremely hard for the past seven months for this. We were all in great shape and very rested. A few of the returning players were meeting me at my house to carpool to the final game of the state championship tournament. Everyone knew that the hard work had paid off when we won the semi-final game the preceding day.
Standing on the precipice of temporary fame and glory, Stephen paced locker room. He was about to engage in the first annual Extreme Parkour Lead Dodgeball Event, or, as it is more commonly referred to, X-PLODE. Joining him in the locker room, his friends and fellow team members Jim and Tyler talked excitedly as they finished their stretches. The two chatted back and forth about the girls and free money that this event would cause to pour in.
On January 22, 2013, I was sitting in the locker room with Amber and the rest of the team, as I did every morning before volleyball practice started. It was loud in the locker room as usual. Me being a typical teenager, I had my phone in my hands at all times. I remember I was scrolling through my instagram feed and my phone started vibrating; Amy Edwardson, who is like another mom to me, was calling me. As I said before, it was pretty loud and I couldn’t hear Amy, so I told Amber to go outside with me so I could talk on the phone. Not particularly thinking anything of it, I answered my phone with a cheery “hello.”
