In the action of reading chapter, two in I started to have so many connections within the first two pages. I can relate to Juanita's story in the way that she had to consult with her mom her career change. My family wanted me to go into a law career but I felt that that wasn't the adequate career for and preferred nursing. While they tried to convince me that law school was a better option they understood me at the end and were supportive with my decision. I believe that a nursing career is a great career goal for me not only because of economic but also because I have the feeling I'll be great at taking care and helping people. There is a strong feeling for nursing in me that I have confidence I can become a nurse. many people will second guess their career or take a different job just for the payment but I feel that nursing is the right path and I have no doubts.Reading this chapter has led me to understand in a more complex way how to help myself while I try to learn who I am; this will take a long way life. Although before I can find myself I have to start doing activities that will connect with my mission statement. I know my mission statement is that I …show more content…
Goals will help me achieve numerous things in life. While goals will always be different they are good to set up. Sometimes goals can be as small as trying to be a better person or as big as finishing an associates degree; no matter the size of the goal is it a goal that will help me succeed and achieve greatness in the future. I have also learned that goals will sometimes need to be changed to be achieved. This isn't a bad thing to do it is actually a good thing for me to do because I'll often forget of my goals and this will help me remember and prioritize. At times, i might need to seek help to achieve my goals and that is all right. Help from people who care about me is a great thing that will drive me closer to the end of my
For my Project Life presentation, I chose to do mine on a registered nurse. The reason I chose to do mine on a registered nurse is because I love to help people. When I help people, it gives me a great feeling. A registered nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a college's nursing program or from a school of nursing and has passed a national licensing exam. In order to be a registered nurse you must have either your associates or bachelors degree. You can get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), if you want to advance in the profession. You can also get a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), it may lead to advances such as: Clinical Nurse Specialist, Anesthetist Nurse, Mid-wife Nurse, or a Nurse Practitioner.
In this article a young, certified nursing assistant failed to follow the guidelines in properly transporting the resident into her bed. Sadly, the resident ended up falling and receiving bruises, and black eyes due to the negligence of the nursing assistant. Rather than getting the resident help right away she asked a coworker to lie for her and say she had helped her, in order to keep her out of trouble. The co-worker didn’t follow through with the lie and the nursing assistant ended up losing her job and is facing charges of a class e felony, and a misdemeanor, also losing her certification. Griffith, G. (2015, June 3rd) Nursing home aide arrested, arraigned for allegedly neglecting elderly resident.
Having been a certified nursing assistant for just about six years I have had many experiences and come into contact with countless people who have touched my life and inspired me to become greater; to become a nurse. Co-workers, patients, patient family members and my own friends and family have always told me to pursue a career as a registered nurse. A very special co-worker of mine, Kathy a registered nurse, inspired me every day I came into work. She always had a smile on her face, she was always the first nurse to rush to help, she would listen to the patients and take the time to talk to them, and she treated every patient that came on our unit with care. Kathy would also take the time to answer questions that any of the CNAs had and
My career plan has taken quite a few turns through the field of health care but I have found my niche where I really enjoy my job and the individuals I take care of. My short term career goal is to get my bachelor degree in health care administration and apply for a job as Q of the houses I work in now. This means I would take care of the mentally handicapped individuals that I take care now just in a different capacity. My long term career goal is to eventually be an administrator for the company I work for now. This means I would have to take the state and federal exams. Then I would be able to take care of multiple homes and have the Q’s under me as employees. Another long term career goal is to continue working on my education and to go for my master’s degree.
When working as a health unit coordinator some of my my duties is to transcribe doctor orders, process doctor orders, make appointments for clients, order supplies as needed. When I am working as a nursing assistant my job requires me to bathe and dress patients, take vital signs, serve meals, set up medical equipment, answer call lights as needed, observe changes in clients
The best feeling in the world to me is not going to sleep in my cozy bed after a long and exhausting day at school or work, it is not wiping off a full face of makeup or even cuddling up in a warm blanket after the cold, chilly winter nights. Sure those things are great but the feeling I get when I show any act of kindness is what I define as the best feeling in the world. Having the chance to impact the world, myself, and even my family, is what I have strived for my whole life. The chance to save lives, be there and care for people through illnesses, injury, pain or loss. Pursing a career in nursing is my ultimate goal. It is a profession that allows me to see people at their worst, all the while, helping them become their best.
It was a Wednesday night and my mother had left for her job at Manor Care again. The house felt hollow, mimicking my state of mind. I was lonely and could not find anything to occupy my time. I did not have any siblings and I was left all by myself in our home. Before she left, my mother said to me, “Najee, this is only temporary until I become a Registered Nurse.” Although I was happy that my mother wanted to pursue her career dreams, for me, the nights by myself filled me with an unparalleled void. I had this lingering feeling that I was locked in a bubble, insulating me from the outside world. A once happy boy had turned into a sad child; I had lost my joie de vivre. I no longer had any positive emotions towards anyone or anything. As a result, my grades began to slip and my once stellar academic record turned into something that I knew was not reflective of the type of student I was.
I recently turned 36 years old on January 29th. My daughters are sixteen and six years old. Zy’Aira my sixteen-year-old daughter has autism and is non- verbal. There are many incidents were Zy’Aira’s behavior will cause me to stay up late nights to complete my homework assignments. Being a mother of an autistic teen is challenging, yet rewarding.
I sit here, thinking about my life and all of my memories, looking at a blank page, wondering where to begin.
Hello everyone, I am Tiffani Coker, currently a second semester senior here at Southeastern. My anticipated graduation is set for December 2015. This is just four short months away, which allows me to finally be able to see the light at the end of the tunnel! I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology and a minor in Biology. I did not begin my college journey in Psychology, it all began with dreams of becoming a nurse. In the spring of 2014, I was accepted into the ECU/SOSU Nursing Program. During that semester of nursing courses, I quickly realized I was not mentally or psychically prepared for such demanding courses. After much thought, this is when I decided to go the Psychology route. Psychology and Nursing
Nursing is a profession that requires intellectual, emotional and physical strength. Nurses are revered for their compassion and grace during difficult situations that involve life and death. An attribute I bring to the nursing profession beyond my academic abilities is eagerness. I am eager to learn, eager to adapt, eager to grow, and eager to serve. I welcome and embrace challenge and change as both are occurrences in the healthcare field.
Whether through formal preparation, such as your BSN or MSN degrees, or through your professional duties like continuing education requirements, our nursing career is an ongoing cycle of learning that is a part of the day-to-day profession. As the number one most trusted profession, it is our duty to continue to progress with the direction healthcare is advancing. I believe the responsibility of the nurse is going to grow in healthcare. While there are topics that I concur with, there are also points in this chapter that I see in an opposing view.
“Call a Rapid Response now and get the doctor on the phone,” my nurse preceptor orders frantically while holding pressure on the patient’s surgical site. The terror I encountered during my first month as a new nurse was one experience I will never forget. I realized quickly there is an immense difference between clinical days in nursing school with a hovering instructor versus the reality of working as a nurse. After my first week, I felt eager to come to an end with my career in nursing.
For as long as I can remember all I've ever wanted to do was help others. I remember just riding in the car and seeing homeless people, and people less fortunate than I and all I wanted to do was help them. So from that point on I made it my life mission to help others. At the time I didn't know how, but I knew I was going to do something. Eventually, I realized I wanted to be a nurse. At first I just wanted to be a nurse to help people, I didn't know what kind of nurse I wanted to be. Then one day it hit me, I knew what kind of nurse I was going to be after college. After graduating from Mount Carmel College of Nursing I am going to be a traveling nurse. I am going to go to other countries and help people that are less fortunate then many
I had many questions, concerns, and doubts about the career path that I was choosing to peruse my future on, after coming to Baker College everything seemed to clearer. All of my questions were answered. My concerns and doubts were becoming clear day by day. Once I stepped into this class, I started learning more about the nursing degree, experiences, knowledge, and role of the nurse. I also got my all questions answered for the current students in the program.
